The food was great and it is a very cute restaurant. Unfortunately there were out of a few items we would have ordered. Our seat was right near the door which I don't love as you get a breeze everytime someone entered. Other than that the food we had was great and the drinks were creative and very tasty. Enjoyable evening with friends.
The service was barely even recognizable based on the fact we had to flag down any server after waiting over an hour couples with with no acknowledgment that we were empty on chips for 45 mins+. Only after we inquired about where our food was did anything show up - if I managed this place, missed opportunity for drinks and apps and terrible service - will not be back after being loyal for years. Such a disappointment.
I will not return. We made a reservation and they sat us right next to the kitchen. Noise level was way above energetic and the tables are uncomfortably close.
Been to dinner at Chicago q many times, but we had not been to brunch in quite a while. Brunch exceeded my expectations. My friend and I shared the hush puppies as a starter, and they were delicious, fresh, hot, crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The chipotle sauced they are served with is the perfect mix of spicy, sweet, and creamy. For our entrees, I had the benedict flight and my friend had the fried chicken and waffles. We destroyed them! The benedict flight is enough food for two, and it comes with a chicken benedict, pulled pork benedict, and a brisket benedict. The pulled pork with cajun hollandaise sauce was my absolute favorite. It was amazing. I also really loved the cornbread that served as the vehicle for the chicken benedict. This was also served with house potatoes, which were flavorful (I just needed room for the benedicts). We also shared a side of crispy bacon, and that was also gone in a blink. The bacon melted in my mouth. I did not try my friend's chicken and waffles, but based on the fact that he did not have anything left on the plate, I'm guessing it was pretty darn good. Finally, I'm a coffee snob, and the Ritual coffee (Colombian blend) served at Chicago q is very delicious. Parker was our server, and he answered every question we had (we had many), gave us recommendations, and had a friendly disposition the entire time we were there. Awesome brunch overall!
Food was delicious with generous portions. Would definitely go back!
We ate here with another couple on a weekend trip to Chicago. We got there early because we had tickets for an evening cruise. We shared the guacamole and hush puppies for starters. I loved the hush puppies. They were flavorful and not too dense. The bacon, cheddar, chipotle aioli was a perfect accomplishment. For dinner I had the Burnt Ends MAC and Cheese. It was rich and creamy and the burnt ends were salty and complimented the sauce well. The portions were big!
My husband got the street corn as his side and gave me a bite. This was the best bite of the night! So yummy!
The place had a cool vibe and our service was excellent.
Great place for lunch! Terrific atmosphere and enjoyable ambiance make Chicago q a great place to meet with friends for lunch. The menu choices are varied and reasonably priced and the food quality was delicious.
Good BarBQ and the restaurant was pleasant attractive atmosphere. The servers were attentive and helpful
I would have expected a place that specializes in barbecue would have amazing ribs, especially for $34. They were dry and both of my dining guests said the ones I make are so much better. Maybe we should have stayed home!
The high top tables are too high for the chairs, and were all tall.
The ser ice was excellent.
We attended brunch. Food was very good, particularly if you like smoked meats and eggs Benedict. Our server, Taylor, was excellent. We look forward to going back for dinner in the future.
Service is always lacking, food is just ok. I always feels off after eating here.
Had dinner here Thursday evening. Ribs St Louis style and partner had half a chicken. Food came out fast and was good, but not as good in the past. Seems like the quality has declined since our last visit. The fact that the dining room was only half full made me wonder too.
This is a great spot for BBQ. I ordered their burger and it was very good!
Food was fine and generous portion. I was not impressed with our server, who was very unenthusiastic and bland.
10/10 recommend Chicago q. Lovely outside area, Benedict trio is a MUST, service was ok this time around.
The service was good, but the BBQ wasn’t. The design of the place looks like they started with trying to be upscale, and then made the place huge. So it had more of a feel of cafeteria.
Came here on a Thursday night with out of town family. The food was outstanding. Mario gave us excellent service, and the bartender Chris made us laugh all night long.
The food had no flavor. Burger was over cooked. Shrimp & Grits- 2 of the shrimp still had shells on. Nothing- including the chips & pickles were seasoned properly.
The food was good but we didn’t have great service.
Great restaurant! Food was fabulous and will defiantly be back. Elevated barbecue in a fun neighborhood.
The brisket is the best I have ever had. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was just OK. I got the pulled pork, pulled chicken, and chopped brisket; none of it was tender. I barely ate 2 bites. I also had a taste of the sliced brisket, VERY over done and tough. The fried chicken and the smoked chicken were excellent, the mac & cheese was basic (not sure why there is a frenzy about it), and the mashed potatoes were a bit weird, but still good. The service was great, though it did take about 40 minutes for the food to come out. I expected better, but maybe I went on a bad night.
The fantastic team at Chicago q managed to squeeze us in at 7.30pm despite wanting to close for the Easter break. The food and beer was delicious and plentiful, with excellent service. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic and delicious BBQ food in Chicago!
I have been to Chicago Q a few times now but this last time on Easter, the food was not as good as it normally is. I'm not sure if the regular chef was out for the holiday but the quality of the food definitely was not what it normally is or what it should be.
We went to Chicago Q to celebrate my husband's birthday after attending a Cubs game at Wrigley Field with my three young children. Our over all experience was awesome. We made reservations ahead of time on Open Table since it was Easter Sunday. We arrived 15 minutes prior and were seated right away. Shortly, after being seated, our server came to take our drink order. He was very welcoming and kind, all of the employees were. After taking our drink order, another server dropped off a bowl of delicious home made chips. They were excellent, we loved them and my kids were so hungry after the game that they kept asking for more, and again, everyone at the restaurant was accommodating and religiously attentive to making sure that we had everything that we needed: full pitchers of ice water, plenty of chips, etc. My husband and I ordered the Flights which included small ramekin sized portions of: pulled pork, pulled chicken, and pieces of brisket. The waiter also brought us 6 different kinds of barbecue sauce. All of the meat was tender and delicious. I ordered the garlic mashed potatoes and it came in a small sized skillet. My husband ordered the garlic mashed potatoes and baked beans which also came in a small sized skillet. Everything came out perfect and we both enjoyed our meals. My kids ordered off of the kids menu and got the sliders, macaroni and cheese, and grilled cheese with fries. To their surprise, their meals came with a dessert. They were pleasantly surprised. The food was great and we all left happy and eager to tell everyone that we know about our experience there. The ambiance was nice and the restaurant seemed fit for either a family dinner, or a date night. The value was excellent, we definitely felt that everything on the menu was fairly priced. For our family of 5, our bill came out to a little under than $80. We are looking forward to going back again.
We had reservations for a party of 8 and 6 of us arrived a 1/2 hour early. They accommodated and brought several rounds of their delicious complimentary chips and pickles. Host was super friendly, staff was very nice and attentive. Ambiance was warm and inviting but casual. Would recommend and will go back.
We went for my birthday, and everything was delicious! The staff was friendly and accommodating, and I can't wait to go back!
Food was fantastic ... good sized portions. The Sauces that come with the meat were the perfect compliment. Must try the mustard/brisket combo. Nice bourbon selection!
Best brisket we have had I think ever....and the burnt ends, omg!
Mario our server was fabulous!
Ribs fell off the bone, baby backs....awesome!
And the q burger, amazing...
We will be back, it’s in our favorites list now...shared our experience with our Uber driver so he could share....
Dinner for 8 including my children and grandchildren. Handled very well
Wonderful place to go! 10/10!
Everything in the menus is fantastic especially their pork chop special.
Consistent good food. My husband and I went for an early dinner with our 9 month old. They were very accommodating for us. The food came quickly and was good as always.
Great restaurant in the heart of the Gold Coast. Excellent food, all the way around. The burnt end sirloin tips appetizer is the best. You cannot go wrong with the Fried Chicken. Will definitely return, and will recommend to friends. Don't miss this place if you are visiting Chicago.
Great food; fast friendly service; everything was explained (like here are five sauces to try and here are the differences...)
I'd have give it 5 trs except the portions are a bit smallo n some items for the price...i.e., the alligator sppetizer., however, taste of everytihng we ordered was phenomenal. would definitely go back.
Good except for waitress was more attentive to her family that seemed to be dining in than other customers. Had to wait numerous times for service
Very good barbecue. I had the St. Louis ribs and they were excellent. The MP fish - Mahi Mahi was not that great, but the fried chicken was very good. We had meatballs and fried alligator for starters and both were great. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly.
If I have one piece of feedback, it is that under the Sparkling bottles section, it should indicate that they are 1/2 bottles so we know what we're ordering.
Excellent all around!
The food and service were excellent. Dina really took care of us. Everything came out on time and hot. My only feedback would be to update the online menu. I arrived expecting to order a pork chop, but found out it was discontinued.
