The meat was great but the sides could use a little more flavor. Had the coleslaw and macaroni. But I will say the cornbread was awesome. Meat was falling of the bone.

I reviewed Chicago Q a long time ago but I have decided to rewrite my review now since the place has changed a lot since.

We have been coming to Chicago Q on and off since it was opened. I still rememeber our waiter told us on opening day that the chef won the throw down with Bobby Flay and the food definitely backed it up. We didn't go as often as we would like because service was always very slow. There was a time when we sat down and no one came for over 15 mins and we saw all of the wait staff walking pass us during this whole time. We just left.

It WAS quality BBQ, tender meats, perfect smoke and unforgetable sauces. You can enjoy the delicious pickled cucumbers and chips while you wait for your food. After all of these years, the flavor of the food has not changed but the quality has gone down hill for sure. We came on a Saturday night and there was no one here. I think partially because of the COVID protocol (vaccine card check, and yes get your shots), partially because of the same old boring menu and partially because of the food quality. The meats are definitely on the drier side, like others mentioned, reheated. My whole rack of St Louis ribs shrink down to 60% of its original size. I can understand COVID has caused a lot of issues for many people but cutting these corners will simply make things worse in my opinion. One thing I just found out, they started charging for the chips and the pickles that was given out for free, $3 each and no refills. Seriously, pretty soon they will start charging for toilet paper, nakins and take home boxes. The menu prices have already increased by 20-35%.

I used to pick Chicago Q over Bub City and definitely Carson's, so even though the service was slow I will still make the effort to come once in a while. But now it will be a very long time before I will come again or never. No wonder there is no one here on a Saturday night.

First visit, staff was moldy disengaged. Meal wasn’t coursed, all items came out together, the apps, salad, mains.
Pulled pork was good, the balance was average.

Hilary was a great, attentive server. The support staff was equally helpful. The greeter was especially pleasant as we sifted through the covid protocols. Look forward to a return visit for the food and people.

The service very good and the waiter was attentive. I ordered the half chicken and brisket. The chicken was juicy and very good, however, the brisket didn’t have that smoky flavor I expected. It was tender, but a little bland. I believe my friend liked the baked beans with brisket bits, but I think they were just ok.

The restaurant wasn’t crowded so the noise level was fine. I would visit again and try the ribs since I heard they were good, but as I mentioned, I was disappointed with the brisket.

Everything from food to service was wonderful quality, the place just gets extremely loud during peak. Peak is not a great time for those with bad hearing or hearing disabilities but everything else makes it worth it!

Chicago Q is a charming and comfortable restaurant in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Serving up Americana by way of BBQ, fried green tomatoes and mac & cheese. Casual and comfortable, this restaurant is a good choice for a great meal.

In the past we have enjoyed this restaurant. This time very few in-person customers. But the service was still very slow. We could see a steady parade of packages leaving the kitchen and headed for the pick-up table. It felt like this is their real focus. Disappointing.

Not the Chicago Q we remember. Dry rub wings we had to send back because they were not edible. Service was shotty at best. Best thing about our experience was the fireplace. We have been here more than a dozen times, including Valentines Day and Brunch. Hopefully they figure it out.

My husband, daughter, and I sat on the patio. Everything we had was delicious! We got the Sangria, pulled chicken, cole slaw, mashed potatoes, kids cheeseburgers & fries. The only thing I did not like at all was one of the pumpkin cocktails. Service was excellent and ambiance was perfect! Will definitely visit again!

Everything at Chicago Q was delicious! Our waiter was very kind and helpful, and the food was amazing! The fried alligator was the best I’ve ever tasted, as well as the hush puppies! I can’t even describe the BBQ platter because it was too good. Also, thank you to our waiter for recommending the carrot cake, it was as amazing as he described it!

A great restaurant, one of my favorites here in Chicago. The burnt ends are the best! Also, a great place for brunch on the weekend. Great options if you are looking for something different, with a little 'grilled' variance. Definitely recommended.

The atmosphere is terrific and the service was excellent. Wine selections are overpriced. The fries and hot links were very tasty. The pulled pork was good as was the pulled chicken. The prime brisket was dry and pretty tasteless,

The food was excellent. We all had the baby back ribs but I had the q3 which is the ribs with two additional meats. The additional meats were the pulled chicken and the beef brisket. The sides for all of us were the fries, Mac and cheese, corn bread, and the coleslaw. In addition we had the pickles which are a must. The come as an appetizer, but having them with the meat is the answer. Delicious! The servers were very attentive and they help one another. We dined outside and still the noise level was no problem at all. The weather was beautiful and the neighborhood made for good people watching. Excellent dining experience. We will return.

I visited Chicago q many years ago and was excited to return. My visit this time was a disaster. We arrived and were ignored by the hosts for about 15 minutes. After we were seated, the waiter promptly took our drinks and appetizer orders, but ended up forgetting to put them in. We waited for a while, until the waiter finally realized we didn't receive any food yet. (The same happened to two other tables near us!) Once we got our food, everything was good, but not great. Overall, I was super disappointed in this visit. I am sad to see the restaurant management totally not care. In addition to being unattentive, I felt that the staff was uncaring and rude (especially the host).
