Chicago Prime Italian Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been to this restaurant many times. They have great food. Their staff is very friendly. I have a disability and they are very accommodating to you making space for my wheelchair and having the staff cut up my food, because I am unable to do it myself. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion, even if it’s just a night out.
Food is really good and our waitress was nice, but it was very loud. Partly due to loud, live music, and partly due to being seated near the kitchen doors. It was hard to carry on a conversation and there were only three of us.
I also had mentioned in the reservation that it was a birthday dinner and there was no acknowledgement of that. I saw several other tables celebrating that were acknowledged by the waitstaff, so that was a little disappointing.
I made a reservation for 7:30 for four people, and we had to wait for over an hour as people with out reservations were able to get seat in smaller parties of two or three. Extremely disappointing, we had friends in that traveled in from out of town, and were not compensated in any way , only thing we got was thank you for your wait. we couldn't even get to the bar area to have a drink.
The food is excellent and our waitress was terrific. Only two problems...
1. They had a DJ playing very loud music and providing vocals to the songs. Really a distraction. Hard to talk. Hopefully, they'll stop that.
2. They overbooked the reservations, so there was a log jam when we arrived. The wait wasn't too bad however.
If they can get their reservations fixed (I'm sure they can) and knock off the loud music the restaurant has great potential.
Very disappointing way to share New Years Eve dinner with friends.
A $79.95 to go meal, for a New Years Eve celebration!
I was given the wrong meal, promised the right one, waited and watched my friends eat for 20 minutes, and finally had the manager apologize that my entree still wasn’t done. Coincidently as my friends were finishing their meals our bread basket was finally delivered. Apparently, for an $79.00 meal, bread comes at the end.
Having lost my appetite I gave up and had the kitchen pack my meal for home.
The manager did offer us a round of drinks but laughably mine was not drinkable and had to send it back. The bar did get that one right but when I ordered a second it too was wrong. Not sure how a one ingredient drink is wrong two times.
Save your $$$. Too many other restaurants to choose from that give you your money’s worth.
We went for New Years Eve and I was told there was a limited menu so I asked what food was on the menu and specifally asked if there was regular pasta on the menu seeing how I do not like sea food I was told yes so once we drove there from Indiana there was not pasta and no one bothered to mention It was $80a person I went to reorder a drink and waiter stated they ran out of strawberry mix for my martini so I was very disappointed not to mention my steak came to very under cooked and sent It back And It came Back the same way
Went for an early dinner on New Years Eve. Booked same day through Open Table. Saw nowhere that it was a set menu and price. Was very surprised when we were seated and was handed the menu with an $80 per person price. Wanted to get up and leave because I was with my teenage daughter and elderly mother and husband knowing full well my daughter and mother would not be able to get their moneys worth. My husband overruled. One small glass of champagne in a plastic flute was included. Food was mediocre and definitely not worth 80 per person. Will not be going back anytime soon
This is an outstanding place to enjoy a truly well crafted meal. The honest exceptional dining experience. It’s not cheap, but for the value of what we received, it is well worth it. The quality of the food here is second to none. We live across the country and travel here periodically - when we do, we seek this place out. It sounds cliche, but it’s truly a memorable experience. The wine selection is not vast, but every time it has been an excellent choice at a reasonable price. The salads are fresh and great. One of our party tonight had the tomato Florentine soup and couldn’t stop raving. The steaks were outstanding - with and without special treatments. I came here tonight to show one of our party what a “really good steak tastes like” - this place delivered! He now understands. You should have seen the look on his face. The sides we had were great, and the deserts were crafted with care and a truly wonderful wrap up. Service was excellent - quickly attentive without hovering. There are a lot of good restaurants in this town, but this place provides a genuine experience in well crafted food. Thanks for great experience.
The place is amazing and food is very delicious! We had a great time sitting next to the fire place - perfect ambience with great appetizers and dinner entrees! The owner Andy, also stopped by and we all had a great conversation with him. It was perfect overall.
Chicago Prime is probably an ok restaurant on most days, but not for Christmas dinner. Our family agreed, indisputably the single worst holiday dining experience we ever experienced. The wait service worked hard but they could not overcome management and kitchen shortcomings. I’ve never been more disappointed with a restaurant.
The service was excellent. The ambiance was excellent. I loved that the tables were spaced out. It provided a more private and quiet dinner with our guests. The food, however was far below what we hoped for and expected. The tomatoes in the salad were too soft and not fresh. Each meal was bland and disappointing. We will not return.
Great tasting food and well paced as we had drinks, appetizers, main course and desserts for a party of four....We never felt rushed and each part of the meal arrived shortly after the previous was finished.
We were there on a Monday night so it wasn't particularly busy.
Only negative comment was the waitress did make a mistake in placing one of our orders and ordered chicken marsala rather than veal marsala. She apologized and owned up to the mistake but we didn't get comped for the error, mostly because we didn't make a fuss because the meal was still very, very good.
