Chicago Prime Italian Ratings and Reviews
Made reservation on open table for 7:30. We got out of a play early so I called to see if they could seat us early. Hostess said it was busy and she would let us know when we got there. Without our knowledge she changed the reservation to 6:30. When we came at 7 she said we were late. She said to have a seat by the bar and she would call us soon. When we went to check on the seats after 45 minutes I believe she forgot us.
Food was also delayed due to a party we were told.
This was an off nite. We’ve had good experiences on previous occasions but Saturday was not one of them.
Our first time dining there, we weren't disappointed. Our server Becky made a stellar recommendation on their Saturday special which my wife rated as her favorite pasta dish she's had in quite some time.
Good spacing between tables helped the experience; it was nice not to be seated on top of the other tables. We will be heading back.
This was an off night. We were sat at a table and no one came to attend to us. Then they apologized but the service continued to suck, they forgot bread even after we asked for it, the host apologized and said our drinks would be on the house and the bill came back with the charges. Not sure what or who was missing or if they did not want us there.
First trip to Chicago Prime Italian, and it didn't disappoint. Owner/host Andy-John made us feel like family. He regularly checked on all the guests in the room. The drinks, food, and service were all top notch. Favorites were the meatballs and the Tiramisu. Definitely want to return for the live music in the Lounge next visit!
I loved teh fact that when I made the reservation, I said it was my Fiancee's birthday and without any prompting, they brought out a piece of tiramisu with a candle on it. What I didn't like was that we had to ask for a bread basket. I ordered the Chicken Vesuvio and there was literally a TON of oregano in the sauce. I took it home and took it out of the sauce in order to eat the remainder. The lasagne my Fiancee ordered was pretty good tho a little dried out. Not sure if we would go back for dinner again.
The music in the bar was fantastic tho!
I picked Chicago Prime Italian because it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and we wanted to try somewhere we had never been before. What a GREAT choice!! The waiter we had couldn't of been any nicer. He explained everything to us, came back on occassion to check to see if we needed anything.
My wife ordered the Lazagna and couldn't eat all of it, it was HUGE, she took the rest home and ate it then for two more days, that's how big it was. I ordered the linguini with white clam sauce. Wow, loads of linguini great white sauce and lots of clams. It we included about 8-10 clams still within their shells. I am a big guy, so of course I ate the whole thing while I was there. My wife and I ordered a side of spinach with garlic to split. That was a large order as well and it tasted SPECTACULAR!!! I forgot to mention my wife had a cup of Navy Bean soup with Bacon and I had the wedge salad. She loved the soup and said it was very tastie and my salad was loaded and I mean loaded with Blue Cheese crumbles it was AWESOME!!!!
We can honestly say we loved Chicago Prime Italian, definitely will be going there again soon. Highly RECOMMEND!!!
This was my first visit to CPI and I was impressed. Service was top notch and our waitress took excellent care of our part of 6. Portions were plentiful and our entrees were all done as requested. Sufficient beer selection and huge wine selection as well. It's a bit noisy, but not more so than any other restaurant that is full of patrons. While not in the bar area, it is large and inviting and had live music the Thursday night we dined. Overall, definitely worth a try!
This was my first visit and I have to say I wasn't overly impressed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating so no complaints there. The food was average at best unfortunately. For appetizers we had shrimp de johnge and an order of calamari that we had ½ fried and ½ grilled. The shrimp was good but nothing over the top. The calamari that was grilled was too thick and not pleasant to eat while the fried was ok but again, nothing special. Everyone in our party ordered a pasta dish and seemed pleased with what they had chosen overall. I picked one of the specials which was a mix of tortellini, ravioli, gnocchi and cavatelli. The sauce was a mix of white and red topped with parmigiana cheese and I added crumbled sausage to spice it up a bit. This too was an average dish. The hit was the lasagna that someone in our party ordered as it was about six inches tall and four inches across from side to side. It was a monstrous dish which we were told was very good.
I am hoping it was perhaps just an off night but fear that it may just be their style which didn't appeal to me as much as other Italian restaurants around the area have.
The overall feel of this place was incredibly refreshing. The food was amazing here. I ordered the Chicken Caprese, and it was simply fantastic. Perhaps the only thing better than the food was the service. We were welcomed by very pleasant people, who showed us to our table in a timely manner. Our waitress was friendly, courteous, and diligent to make sure we had a nice evening. Definitely five stars in my opinion.
