My birthday dinner was exceptional!
Our waitress Destiny was outstandingly fabulous and made the dining experience more than just good food.
Took my mother in law out for her birthday. Food and drinks were good. Waitress was nice and friendly.
Always good. Last night the fried oyster appetizer with the spring rolls, seaweed salad and the sahara roll made the perfect dinner for two!
Nice ambiance kinda small but a really nice place with good food
Service was excellent. Food quality was mediocre to poor. Tried every oyster on the menu - cooked and raw. Many of the oysters were past the day which they should have been served. At your oyster prices, we expect perfection- especially since your price point is top 3 highest in the city. Cooked oysters were flat in flavor. Not a lot of thought went into creating these apps. Crab cake was rancid- we sent it back. Sea bass tasted as it was freezer burn. Lamb chops were meh - over cooked and over sauced to make up for poor quality meat that had been in the fridge for a week too long.
Sorry COH team - the issues experienced with the meal were all back of house created problems. Would have expected much better fora 4 person $700 dinner tab. Too many fantastic steak and seafood restaurants in our city. Swift and Sons, Bavettes, Maple and Ash - make COH look like Applebees which would have been a better dinner option.
Had such hopes that this would be a great meal. Sadly, we were very disappointed. We tried many different food items and only a couple were dishes we would ever order again. And, service was very inattentive and slow. The menu sounds great snd it is so close to the convention center - but, we will not be returning.
Went out with my fiancée for a nice dinner here. It started off fine but quickly turned sour.
I’ll make this short and sweet: they have A5 Wagyu in the menu but what they served me was not A5 Wagyu. What came out were tiny cubes (with absolutely no fat marbling) riddled with gristle, already pre-cut, and bone dry. Not to mention my first bite had gristle. A5 Wagyu doesn’t have gristle. Also the steak was not cooked medium rare but medium. I politely told the server that this steak was not up to the level of what I paid for ($120/4 oz), and she took it back. Then another waiter (why I don’t know) came back and tried to convince me it was cooked properly and this it was indeed A5 Wagyu, and then told me that all they could do was give me half off, and couldn’t return or replace items “because of covid”…as if before covid returning a bad item was any different?!
They finally agreed to give me a full refund after way too much hassle. Had they simply agreed to replace the bad item straightaway instead of trying to convince me I was wrong, it would have been a fine experience.
I’ll give two stars since our waiter Destiny was fantastic. The oysters were also good.
Went out for the wife’s bday. Ordered a crab cake, her favorite. We each to a bite of the $20 single crab cake, both had shells in our bite. Sent it back. Destiny, our server, was fantastic. She took care of it immediately. Ordered several sushi rolls as we always do. The spicy tuna tasted exactly like canned tuna with some heat. Not good at all. And the dynamite roll, with baked shrimp and scallops, had shrimp tales/shells in the roll. If I wanted to eat shells, I would order soft shelled crab. Super high reviews led me to a super huge letdown.
Food was great, and so was the service, the only thing is the restaurant could be nicer inside. It’s kind of very simple and outdated.
I came to this restaurant for the oysters. Unfortunately the oysters were old and not kept very cold. The rest of the meal was just ok. Service was fast and friendly.
The oysters, clam chowder, and several suschi roles we had were all excellent, as was the service. Can't speak to the steaks, but they looked great as well. We eat in the South Loop often and this place instantly went to the top of our list. We'll be back.
Went here to celebrate our first anniversary and could not have been happier with our experience. Food was phenomenal, service was great, and it was the perfect atmosphere.
Delicious food impeccable service. Best salmon sushi! Children’s menu is amazing too. Wait staff went above and beyond.
Loved it! I don’t know why we didn’t try this restaurant sooner. The food and drinks were great and the service was fantastic. We will definitely return soon!
I’ve included a picture of my Lychee Martini that was the best I’ve ever had!
Website showed a happy hour. So took my father for fathers day. We are huge oyster fans. Only to showup and be told happy hour was for there other location. We were bummed being he drove 2 hours to visit and let down
Dear Joshua, We stopped our Happy Hour Specials for a few years now. Our website do NOT show any happy hour specials. We can not regulate what google posts online, outside of our web page, as we do not own google. Perhaps, you came across a post that was over 3 years old that was not from our website. Here is our website: chicagooysterhouse (dotcom) Honestly, no one really does happy hour on a Saturday night in Chicago, especially on a busy night and recovering from the pandemic shut down.
I took my wife here for a date night. The food is amazing and the service is excellent! If you like steaks and seafood, you will love the Chicago Oyster House.
We had a reservation and when we arrived we were not seated right away. After about 15 min. we did get asked for a drink order. Drink arrived 20 Min after we ordered. People were complain in the dining room about many issues. A young girl dining with her family was blasting loud music from her iPhone...very distracting and nobody from the Oyster House asked her to shut it off. Food, cold and not good. Service fee was added for a table of 2, which was unreasonable giving them 20% for a horrible Saturday evening meal.
This was an unforgettable dinner. Amazing!!!
The grill oyster were a little too wet. Would have tasted better if grill in butter and garlic.
One of the best restaurants and quality of food I've been to in a while. There are more expensive restaurants I've been to but this place definitely tops it. Great Service as well
First time I took myself to dinner
Best oysters I have ever eaten! Service and ambiance was amazing. We will definitely be back.
Food was PHENOMENAL. A small but impactful restaurant. ALL the food was good!
Food was delicious & ambiance is nice & cozy the decor was pretty.. highly recommended
Excellent food. Great service
It was great. Our server saw me with a toddler and immediately brought over a high chair and a kids menu without me having to ask. She kept checking in with us as it was our first time and we had indecisive teenagers with us. The service was fast, we didn’t wait any time for drinks or food. They sat us away from other patrons and followed the current COVID protocols. The food was delicious!
I went for Mother’s Day 2021 and it was amazing! The food was delicious! I had The Rockefeller and the Delaware Bay Oysters along with the lamb chops, wasabi mashed potato’s, Sautéed mushroom with sake, sauté baby spinach with garlic, also an oyster shooter with sake
The food was absolutely delicious! The seafood was extremely fresh and well seasoned. The lamb chops were delicious. Note that a sauce is on chops (the sauce is superb), so order the sauce on the side if you are unsure. The Oyster House is smaller venue, which makes the dining experience more intimate. The restaurant is on my short list of great Chicago restaurants.
FABULOUS service and the food was delicious!! A little pricey but totally worth it, I will be back!!!!
Food was amazing and delicious! Colossal shrimp, Lobster tail, sautéed garlic spinach. The Mrs had Lamb chops. Service was great. Went on Saturday night before Mother’s Day. Almost forgot about the oysters entrees were so good: pricey but well worth it! First time, definitely will be back!
The quality of food for the price did not compute. Our $55 ribeye was quite thin and lacked flavor and the cajun seafood boil was really a boil and not cajun at all. Expected much more than this for what we spent.
Oysters and service was good
They were great. Food, service were excellent. Lil pricey but worth it.
I felt rushed although there were not many guests I felt rushed. The food was mediocre at best especially for the price. I will not be dining there again. The service was good though.
Great service and the oysters were great. The only problem I had this time was with the seared tuna. It was very tough. Other than that, it was great.
Amazing experience. Great service.
The food was excellent with the exception of the garden salad which was average. We had both raw and grilled oysters for an appetizer. Both were great. My wife had the grilled prawns which were seasoned and grilled properly. I had the sushi deluxe dinner which was excellent- generous proportions of fish.
Absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Excellent service. Calm, relaxing atmosphere. Delicious food and drinks. Five stars.
