Chiapparelli's - Baltimore
The meal was great but I was just a little disappointed the lemon cake wasn't available. But otherwise GREAT meal and EXCELLENT service
Really packed on a Saturday night.... glad I made this reservation (and they have a valet which is not mentioned anywhere). We still waited 45 mins after our rezzie time, but it went by fast.... we were yapping.
All the servers were in chaos.... large parties everywhere so the noise was INCREDIBLE.
As I read before we went, the salad had WAYYYYY too much dressing. Just lettuce, exactly 3 grape tomatoes & slice of red onion in each bowl. Appeared to come out of a vat. And sure enough, halfway thru our meal, I saw our server carrying a vat of salad to the kitchen 🤪. We were a chatty group, so I don’t think anyone LOVE LOVED their meal, but I must say their red sauce/Marinara was delicious. My son ate his meatballs but did not take leftovers home. My friends DID take theirs home (drowned gnocchi & Shrimp Nicola). Portions were generous.
Wine was good left us a carafe of water which is a fave of mine; bread was ok. Fake Italian bread but warm.
I don’t think I’d run back to Chip’s. So many other restaurants in Bmore to try in my limited times I’m in B. Not BAD, just not great..... 🤷🏻♀️
The food was good. Server was incredibly overwhelmed but very nice. The hostess and what I assume was a manager were absolutely horrible- argumentative, rude. It was uncomfortable to see and completely uncalled for. A seated table walked out after waiting 30 minutes for the table- they had a reservation- due to condescending comments from the hostess/manager. What was supposed to be a special birthday dinner turned into an awkward meal in a place we felt didn’t care about its patrons.
The chips salad that comes with the entrees was large and tasty. It has a lot of cheese in it. The chicken marsala was tasty but not large enough considering the cost. The tomato sauce was more savory than I prefer. My spouse enjoyed the mixed seafood entree with mussels, clams, calamari, etc.
We found ourselves in Little Italy last Friday evening and hadn't been to Chiapparelli's in quite some time. The food was just as good as we remembered! The salad there is amazing and both of our meals were outstanding (veal saltimbocca and penne vodka). However, the best part of our meal was our wonderful server, Helen! She took excellent care of us and was so fun to talk to!
Food was excellent. Very traditional place.
Helen was phenomenal and made our meal.
Our evening at Chiapparelli's was fantastic as usual. When ever we are in Baltimore we have dinner at Chiapparelli's.
Our server was very friendly & engaging. Staff was very accommodating for our disabled guest. Thank you!
Birthday but didn’t get any perks
There are much better restaurants serving the same style food in Baltimore. The food was okay. Nothing was outstanding. The bread basket was cold. We started with fried calamari, which was a bit greasy and slightly undercooked. The salad that came with our meals was swimming in salad dressing. The dressing tasted good but there was way too much of it. The shrimp parmesan was good but the pasta side was just okay. The fettuccine alfredo with shrimp was loaded with butter and had few vegetables in it. The veal saltimbocca was nothing special.
The atmosphere is dated and worn. The restaurant is loud. The service was the best part of the meal.
Our server has been working for the restaurant for 30 years. She was friendly and nice, had recommendations for us, and was knowledgeable. However, because you can get much better versions of the same items from many places in the city, I do not recommend Chiapparelli's.
Just a wonderful place to go with the family and enjoy traditional Italian food.
Frankly I was disappointed. The food was okay - but not what I expected having been a long time customer of Chips. The salad was too flooded with the dressing so that you eating more dressing than salad. The chicken dish I had (vencenzo?) was nicely prepared and presented, but was too sweet for my tastes. My companions had similar complaints - food was okay - but not to the degree we would expect
With all the choices of excellent restaurants in the Little Italy area, it may be some time before I visit Chiapparelli's again.
My only complaint was that there were several small children running around and also playing in the ladies room, therefore tying up the facilities for more than 15 minutes.
Great food. Solid service
We had a fantastic experience at this authentic Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Helen our server was incredible, sharing her stories, suggestions and love of her job. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the entire experience. You will not be disappointed!
Chips has become our go to place in Little Italy, good food and service at a reasonable price.
Great family setting with hearty portions and overall tasty meal.
Excellent lunch, nice variety, great food!
The best salad ever. Been eating it for years
Made a reservation for 8 and still had to wait 45 minutes. Ok I get it. A little behind. But after being seated we had to wait another 10-15 minutes. Asked the gentleman who brought us water to get a waiter. A waitress brought us bread then the hostess ended up taking our order. Never asked if we wanted anything to drink.food was good. Wish the overall service was better.
Another great meal at Chiapparelli’s. Crowded because it was parents weekend at Loyola but wait staff treats you like family even when they are overwhelmed. In clinker was the valet team - who acted like jerks.
Wait time for table very long
Salad was iceberg lettuce and drenched in mediocre dressing
Waiter had too many tables to handle
Food kept going to wrong tables
Waiters on the stairs sounded like a stampede of elephants
So delicious amd love the family owned atmosphere.
My daughter’s birthday
It was our nieces birthday. The food was good but the waiter wasn’t very personable. He didn’t welcome us or tell us his name.
My husband and I went with our 2YO and our server was amazing with her! Would definitely go back
Chips salad is the best!! Can’t get enough!!
It’s been decades since we’ve been to Chiapparell’s, but we wanted to introduce a new generation of family members to the original famous salad. To start, all the entres were delicious and generous in size. However, knowing times have changed along with receipes and staff, it was dissapointing to see changes to the bread and salad. The bread was dry, but the bruschetta was very good. If you have never had the original Chiapparelli salad then you will think this one is great. But to us old-timers who got the receipe from Buddy, not so much. Gone were the red wine vinegar and lemon juice, chopped eggs and chunk tomatoes. In their place was a white wine vinegar and whole cherry/grape tomatoes. While I use them in the winter when local tomatoes aren’t available, slicing them would have added more flavor to the salad. For dessert, the Cannoli was very good, but the Ricotta Cheesecake was hard and tasteless. Chiapparelli’s is a traditional italian restaurant offering outstanding service, good food and wine at a very moderate price.
Good meal, extra friendly environment. Old but good. Our Waitress has been working there 35 years and was really friendly and excellent. Enjoyed it very much
Dinner was delicious!! The shrimp scampi with garlic bread was the best I ever had!! They accommodated my son by making him pizza when it wasn’t on the dinner menu. Can’t wait to visit here again!!
I’m already dreaming about my next visit!!! The restaurant is so cute on the outside and inside! Feels very homey with brick walls and pictures everywhere. The service was great and we got two appetizers, entrees and dessert! The fried mozzarella and bruschetta were a great start (good size portions and very tasty)! I got fettuccine Alfredo and my boyfriend got grandmas ravioli and it was to die for! Full of flavor and great portion size again! We ended with tiramisu which was heavenly! Super creamy too, with a kick of espresso coming through! Not to mention, great homemade bread to start and the best side salads ever (and I hate salad, so thats saying a lot)! I couldn’t speak more highly of this place! It’s been the first restaurant I’ve attended in Little Italy Baltimore and I’ll definitely be back.
Great dinner. We always have great food there.
Great food and great service. Best spot in Baltimore!!
We've been making the hour long drive to Chiaparelli's for many a year. Although some things have changed since our last visit (smaller menu and wine list), it still has its old school charm. We love the white tablecloths, china and other small details which make this a go-to destination when we visit Baltimore. And the pasta is terrific as is the chicken dishes we had!
This was a great place to host guests when we went to a convention. The atmosphere is excellent, the server was outstanding - very attentive, good sense of humor and made some good recommendations. Food was cooked and delivered in a timely manner and the dishes were superb. All of the entrées came with a salad and the prices were good. We'll come back here if we're ever in Baltimore again!
Helen is always great.
Great food with great service. Just a lovely place that has been this good for the 35 years I have been going.
Salad salad salad of my goodness and everyone’s meals were great
Started our vacation out with a trip to Chapparelli's, excellent choice. The place is very cozy, the servers were pleasant, and food was amazing. Was very happy when I saw the bill, two entrees came to $54, we spent more then that on breakfast the next day. Highly recommend A+
