Dinner can be served al fresco on the Chianti Terrace overlooking Lake Huron. Chianti also features a Martini Bar just outside of the dining room that serves signature martinis nightly.
Daily 5:00 pm–10:00 pm
My wife and I walk into this place in shorts and casual dress thinking that we are underdressed, however the lady who greeted us was very inviting and remembered speaking to me on the phone and seated us immediately.
The waiter was a class act. He provided us time to look at the menu and enjoy each other all the while providing solid suggestions to us all night long from the wine selection, soup, main dish, and yes even the dessert. He told me that my eyes would be open once I ate the soup....it was the best soup that I have ever eaten. The entire meal and experience was perfect.
If you visit the island please go to this restaurant.
We went for our 20th anniversary. Our waiter, Basil, promised the night would be unforgettable, and it truly was. The lake view was beautiful, the food was wonderful, and the service was outstanding. To top it all off, Basil serenaded us - he actually SANG for us! I have never had that happen in a restaurant, anywhere. (He has a very good voice, too.) He definitely followed through on his promise.
It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. This isn't the place for a quick meal on a budget, but if you want a dining experience, I recommend it.
Our service was great. The hostess and manager were lovely. Our waitress was spot on. The piano player was fantastic. The gentleman who sang happy birthday to my daughter was superb. In my opinion Chianti was far superior to The Grand in every aspect. When we return next summer we will definitely revisit.
Outstanding food, our waiter, Giodonavan was outstanding
We got off to a bad start by being 1/2 hr late, but I called to notify and they sat us when we got there. That was the good news. Bad news is that they sat us right next to piano player, making it a bit difficult to talk. Food was very good, but not excellent. We asked for no sauce on fish, but it came slathered in sauce. Service was a bit slow, even for a high end restaurant and given it was late and not crowded. Servers were friendly and competent, but missed the little touches like how to serve and remove plates that one expects when paying high prices.
Dad and I had the veal piccata. The flavor was very good. Mom and I’ll be both had white fish which they declared one of the best on the island. There’s always the service was impeccable
Beautiful place, piano player during dining, but the best reason to go is the service! The servers are incredible and make the evening feel very special.
Gilroy was an excellent server. We loved the food and service!
Adrian was a great server. Filet was delicious.
This restaurant isn’t worth it. The food, service and decor were all below average, especially at the point. The view is nice if you are by the windows or on the balcony. With so many good options on Mackinac Island, this one is definitely worth skipping. Our food seemed like it was cooked well ahead of service starting and the taste was very lack luster. Save your money.
We are outside on the deck! It was way too hot to eat inside! The grilled whitefish was very good as was the Caesar salad. A nice bottle of Rosé to go with Fish was delicious!
Great Service, food was very good, creme brule was excellent.
The food was great, there was live music, a pianist, and the view of Lake Huron made it perfect
This restaurant far exceeded our expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly, the service was top-notch and the food was fantastic. Couldn't have asked for a better time to celebrate our daughter's birthday.
The restaurant looks like an especially wide, noisy hallway. There wasn’t a host or anything when we got there. Not a very friendly atmosphere. The food is great but no “doggy bags” for leftovers allowed and you’re going to pay a high price for the high class restaurant they’re pretending to be. Not worth it in the least. There are a lot of better places to eat on Mackinac Island.
They were out of the Firat 3 things we ordered and would not make any very easy changes of the stated dish
This restaurant received lots of high ratings for food quality, and with the excellent view and service on top, we expected a wonderful evening. Sadly, this did not happen. We were greeted very pleasantly and seated at a perfect table near the window overlooking the lake. So far so good! The table service throughout the meal was outstanding, and the manager himself was very visible making rounds and checking on everyone. Unfortunately, the quality of our food just did not live up to the rest of the experience. And in the end... a restaurant has to deliver excellent food to be worthwhile. In fairness, perhaps it was just my choice (Piccata, with chicken instead of veal) due to the fact that chicken was offered as an alternate selection on the menu, thus taking the kitchen/chef out of their normal preparation. The problem is, I have had wonderful chicken piccata in many "lesser" restaurants, and what I was served that night was woefully short of my expectations. The chicken was breaded (looked like it had been transferred as-is from chicken parm, also on the menu), had not been pounded flat, and was tough to the point that I suspect it came out of a freezer from a Sysco box. Worse yet, the so-called piccata sauce was thick, tasteless and had barely (if any) hint of lemon in it. I struggled through about half of this surprising dish and gave up. In retrospect I should have sent it back and asked for something else, but elected not to make a scene on a pleasant evening out with my wife. Her meal was fair (plain pasta with marinara), and she too didn't get beyond about half of it. In the end, this restaurant did everything right except the most important thing: delivering on the excellent quality food which we'd anticipated from the various reviews we had read.
Superb service through the evening. If you plan to visit Mackinac Island and want a more upscale environment Chianti is a great option.
Staying at Mission Point for summer vacation with family. The beautiful restaurant had a lovely view, live piano music, but the great menu offered something for adults and our 10yo son - with all enjoying their meal! Delicious fish served by attentive waiter!
We had Pasta and Veal dishes. The pasta was just "okay" nothing special. We asked about a couple of different dishes and the waiter gave no suggestions very unhelpful.
The veal was very dry and tough.
The only good thing about it was the view...Spectacular!
Would not go back and would not recommend.
We sat on the patio by the lake. Wait staff were professional and friendly. Food was good ,it just took FOREVER to come We were apologized to for the delay. However the restaurant was barely half full. Unsure what the delay could have been. BEST dipping balsamic vinegar I have ever had I would go back again
The service was outstanding! It is a very fancy restaurant, and the view is absolutely gorgeous. A nice little getaway.
Came in for our 25th anniversary! The server was outstanding, the views we're incredible. The chicken parm was one of the best I have ever had. The rib eye was a bit overpriced though.
Indefinite atmosphere and delicious food!
Beautiful setting and friendly staff, but the food was disappointing. The house speciality—hand made pasta—was dry, sticky and difficult to eat. The veal piccata was covered in a thick, almost jelly like sauce that was oddly seasoned and missing traditional ingredients of capers and artichokes. Disappointing although the beautiful views helped make up for a bit of it.
Wonderful experience. The food was great. I love the island and this just adds to the great experience. Wonderful way staff. Very personable.
FANTASTIC!!! Loved the food, view and ambiance!! We will return every time we come to Mackinac Island!
We had a fantastic experience at Chianti celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The view and the room setup was gorgeous and there was a live piano player for atmosphere. We started with delicious mussels then I had the halibut and my husband had the most tender steak ever. Our waiter (I think his name was Aiden) was fantastic and made the whole meal an experience to remember. The best part was that as a surprise to celebrate our anniversary, one of the other waiters came out and sang to us. What an amazing night - thanks Chianti.
Chianti is CLOSED on Sunday but Open Table let us make a reservation. We all showed up for our parents’ anniversary dinner to a closed restaurant. This was an Open Table FAIL.
Atmosphere was pretentious, and the waiter was chauvinistic. The food was OK.
We had an amazing experience. We got an incredible deal on dinner, ferry tickets and room. It was an amazing experience and we will be back!
We ate at Chianti while staying at Mission Point. The restaurant is just off of the lobby. It was May (early season on Mackinac) and 8pm, so we were one of 4 tables being used. There was live piano background and attentive waitstaff. The food is not cheap, but it was very good. We had a table by the window overlooking the lake. Nice atmosphere.
The service was amazing the food was ok. Cesar salad had no dressing, chicken Parmesan was not good, chicken was good the spaghetti was more like German spaetzle.
Awesome service, great food. Staff was very accommodating.
Beautiful setting, both dining room and view of Mackinac Straits. Interesting Italian menu. It is early in the season so wait staff needs to get up to speed to get orders correct, but otherwise gracious service and attentive staff.
A gem where i wouldnt expect to find one...wifeand i generally have a issue of some sort every time we go out..but last night everything fell into place..service was great..wait staff were very freindly food was excellent..view of lake huron with freighters passing seals the deal on my first 5 star review ever.
The only suggestion for improvement would be more attention to ambiance; downlighting was somewhat harsh, more up/table lighting could make this place OVER THE TOP, because food and service was excellent.
Food was not tasty. Tough and over spiced. I got a bill with wine for the meal 269.00 that is decent if the food is memorable and tasty. This just didn't live up to the hype. Wont be back.
I had the elk bolognese with pappardelle. It was excellent and I am not an elk eater.
Each course was exquisite from appetizer to dessert. Service was on point - attentive but not intrusive. On the pricey side, but great for a special occasion
