Italian
Nancy Silverton's latest addition to the Mozzaplex, chi SPACCA– Italian for “he who cleaves”– was borne of the wildly-popular family-style dinners hosted weekly at Scuola di Pizza, the previous occupant of the intimate dining room nestled between Mozza2Go & Osteria Mozza.

Heralded as a "meat speakeasy" by Food & Wine Magazine, chi SPACCA has come to represent the quintessential new Italian dining experience, where accompaniments like the Foccacia di Recco, warm salted Medjool dates, and Culatello & Puglia burrata are just sideshows for the rest of Chef Joseph Tagorda's meat-centric menu which features a 42-ounce Tomahawk pork chop, a 36-ounce dry-aged bone-in New York Costata alla Fiorentina, and a 50-ounce dry-aged porterhouse Bistecca Fiorentina.

Enchanted by the artistry of Italian salumi culture, we built the first “dry cure” program in Los Angeles so that we could experiment and perfect Italian charcuterie techniques in house. Open Tu

The sommelier was not the most kind and was fairly rude, but other than that it was amazing.

Loved the place and took my parents there for their first experience.
I thought the $50.00 corkage fee was ridiculously high.

The food was good. The bone marrow was the best. Pork was the best pork I’ve ever had. However most of the food tasted a bit too salty, some people might enjoy that but I had to drink 2 beers and 5 cups of water. Overall a great place for dinner, great host, service, and great ambiance. 4/5

Service was spectacular. Excellent pacing and temperature. Ordered a variety of items to share, yet everything was over salted for our entire table’s palates.

THE best restaurant in Los Angeles (and might be our favorite restaurant in the world). Joe Tagorda is the new chef de cuisine and is killing it. Try the vegetable pie. Must order though is the focaccia di recco and the milk roasted pork. Service is great and the wine list is amazing.

I made a note about it being my partner’s birthday and the lovey host made reference but when desert rolled around, nothing was done. I was embarrassed to say anything. I really tried to love this meal but all I’m stuck feeling really disappointed.

The food here is INCREDIBLE and that is coming from a major food snob. The short ribs, beef drippings, pea tendrils and cauliflower - amazing. Wonderful service too!

Definitely order the focaccia. We also adored the beef/bone marrow pie. We sat outside in the front so the view wasn't the greatest facing the street, however they did have privacy plants/planters in between the tables which was a nice touch. Our server was excellent. We just wished the served cocktails.

Foccacia so thin and cheesy its not foccacia, 36 month aged prosciutto, a bright herbacious salad, a rich caesar, a bone in tomahawk pork chop slathered in fennel pollen (idk but yuh), and a pie bb.

I love everything that Nancy Silverton does and Chi Spacca is no exception. The anchovy on butter on toast is a knockout, as are all the salads, steak, chicken, fish, savory pies, sides and dessert!!!! LOVE THE WINES TOO! Big Fan.

Had the razor clams & Bronzino in addition to our usual red meat selections. We’re not usually into fish (diet food In my book) BUT wow it was amazing. I could easily eat the fish Dishes & leave happy & not feel like i had missed out. If you have non red meat eating friends they will be super happy w the options on the menu. Thanks again to the amazing staff for an AWSOME Mother’s Day meal

Came to chi Spacca for date night whit my girlfriend. We both needed a little get away and could not be more happy about our experience. The service was amazing. Thien was our server and she did a fantastic job. All of her recommendations were great and the food was amazing. It can be a little price for some items but for a special occasion it is worth the money. The cured meats were perfect, the breads (it is Nancy we are talking about) are too die for, bone marrow pie is incredible, and the sides perfect. Also the wine was amazing. Everything was perfect. Thank you chi Spacca for making out night!!!

This is simply our favorite place. The food is just incredible & there is always something new & amazing to try. Best charcuterie board anywhere, Bistecca Florentina is hands down the best I’ve ever had & it’s a go to where ever we eat. Don’t skip out on the simple things like the pickled vegetable plate, it’s great. This place is best w 4 people min so you can try a lot of dishes, otherwise the portions/plates are large so you don’t get to Cruze the menu as much w just 2. Also corkage fee is marginal so bring a bottle if you like but they also have some greet by the glass options

Totally unfortunate dining experience at special event “cookbook dinner.” Outside dining without heaters on a cold LA night, food all underwhelming and without precision. I’m so happy that restaurants are able to find ways to be open during Covid-19 and happy to supportthem, but this dinner didn’t feel, in any way, like the chefs would have wanted it to be. Not sure if it was just being ill prepared for the weather or other factors related to the current circumstances. I hope to experience Chi Spacca as it’s meant to be at some point, but that wasn’t the case tonight.

We were so disappointed at how bad the service was as we are regulars at Spacca and LOVE IT! Dinner took two hours to get to us and as such the meal dragged on much longer than it should have. We appreciate the effort during this crazy time but perhaps they need to stick to take-out for now.

Overall the food was delicious. The only thing that disappointed me was that I took a survey before my reservation answering some questions about my reservation. One of my answers explained that I was celebrating my birthday. No one greeted me once or even offered a candle. And that was pretty shocking from a place of such a high caliber. It’s not the end of the world, but for a lot of people right now who’ve had to have a quarantine birthday, a simple greeting goes a long way.
