We were there for Sunday brunch. The food was good, and reasonably priced. The restaurant was very busy, and very noisy. It was difficult to carry on a conversation, and the wooden chairs quickly got uncomfortable. In short, good food, but not a place for relaxed mealtime conversation.
Best brunch anywhere! Pianist could be changed...ridiculous music choices and way too loud. Pretty annoying.
I don't usually go there due to the popularity, however, I wanted to make an exception this past weekend and went for brunch. The overall experience was good, however, the noise level is way up, it's hard to speak one another hence everybody feels they have to shout. Food is good for Sunday brunch.
Enjoyed the brunch. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Enjoyed the music.
Amazing. We celebrated two birthdays. They made it extra special.
The Friday night noise was high with the piano overlay we had to ask them to turn down the piano amplification . By 7:30 the crowd thinned and it was better. Food and service were excellent! Recommend the enclosed and air conditioned patio for a little quieter experience, though it is still pretty noisy. Recommend prime rib, trout, pecan crusted salmon, all salads, pork chop and pastas.
Had a wonderful dinner at Chez Zee for my husband's birthday! Everything was perfect! We really enjoyed our waiter, Ian. He did a great job!
I usually love Chez Zee but was disappointed with the Pad Thai special. There were very few vegetables just noodles. When they brought more vegetables I was charged extra for the mushrooms. I was not told there would be a charge. An excellent restaurant with a not so good special.
A C at best. Nothing real special regarding the food and it's certainly not french regardless of the name. Deserts were the best part which it seems they specialize in. Service was OK. Atmosphere was needing serious attention as it seemed to be a time capsule from the 1980s.
Haven't been to Chez Zee for a while. It was as good as I remember. Plan on meeting there at least once a month to catch up with family we don't see often.
After 9 desserts are half off! Amazing selection. Our server was so attentive and friendly.
Excellent place for Brunch. The warm croissants and strawberry butter, Creme Brulee French Toast with a Rum Sauce, Lobster Benedict were standouts! Ian our server was great!
The food was great. Amazing, friendly service. Walked right in and was seated.
Our UK waiter was a fellow Dr. Who fan and very charming -- and adept. The food, as usual, was bountiful and excellent, and Chez Zee honored our request for a table near the front, so the member of our party who walks with a cane didn't have too far to travel. Highly recommended.
I love that this part of "old Austin" has continued its great food, service, and Austin "vibe". It does tend to get a little noisy.
We were celebrating two birthdays. Our table was decorated with a sign and ribbons. Our waiter was very attentive and the food, as always, was great!
Chez Zee was amazing as always. I hadn't been there in over a year and was always one of my favorite spots to eat. Glad we dine again. Incredible service, food delicious as always and oh my, that lemon cake! Will be back again soon.
I’ve been to brunch at Chez Zees a number of times with my family. A friend had never been to Chez Zees so I invited her to join my daughter-in-law and granddaughter for brunch. The guy behind the counter did not welcome us or smile. The young woman who seated us acted as though we were bothering her. I thank her for seating us and she turned and walked away. She never said a word and did not smile. Water was brought to our table and I asked if my little granddaughter could have a child’s cup of water. It didn’t arrive. It was more than 30 minutes before anyone took our order. I ordered a mimosa but never got it. We were seated at our table over an hour before our order arrived. I asked for separate tickets but received one ticket. I reminded the waiter I asked for separate tickets. He seemed irritated but he had someone else do it. I paid with cash and the other 2 was paying with their credit cards. A different wateriest picked up one money tray and walked away and ignored my friend and my trays even though we were holding them up for her to take. We were never checked on. There were two employees standing at the counter as we were exiting and neither bothered to thank us for coming, have a good day, or even smile. It was obvious not one employee wanted to be there.
This is the first time I’ve been to Chez Zees where I didn’t have to use valet parking because there was no parking. There were lots of parking spaces available. This is the first time there weren’t customers waiting for a table. There were empty tables all around us. The employees there were not overworked or busy. They did all lack customer service.
I apologized to my friend and told her she could choose the next brunch spot. It’s doubtful it will be at Chez Zees.
We had a lovely family brunch at Che Zee on Saturday...the food was delicious and our waiter George was terrific!
Has ever the food was outstanding. No one does eggs better than chez zee.
excellent service & food. Really appreciated that the server didn't interrupt business being conducted over lunch. She was excellent at attending to our needs without becoming part of the event/lunch meeting.
We had never been to Chez Zee and went for a family get together...No one was disappointed! The food was delicious, the desserts were awesome! A great experience all the way around!
We went there for our 51st anniversary and a quiet , undramatic evening. everything was EXCELLENT. Pecan crusted salmon (a predictable favorite) and prime rib. The prime rib was cooked medium rare as requested and was very tender. Dessert was brownie bites and pear tartlet. All was as hoped for and we enjoyed one of our many visits to Chez Zee.
I have been going to Chez Zee since the 1980s and it is consistent- brunch, lunch or dinner. Ambiance is whimsical and charming, servers are knowledgeable and considerate and menu has wonderful favorites and creative specials. Love it.
So glad I took my nieces! Delicious meal,
Ambiance and great service! Plan to take the family for our anniversary.
Delicious and fun as always! Love the eclectic vibe of Chez Zee. Great for brunch, dinner, or a fancy dessert!
No special occasion, just a chance to get together with family. As always, we were not disappointed and look forward to out next brunch get together.
Chez Zee was a nice surprise. The pecan-crusted salmon was cook to perfection and the Godiva Tres Leche cake was superb. My fiance and I loved the ambience, but the service was a little slow. The manager, though, was awesome, making sure my fiance and I were happy. We will definitely eat there again for date night.
Everything was great and our server Gregory was very informative for our first time dining there. My only complaint is we were a two top seated next to a large group in a small room and we were bumped into quite a bit.
A must visit place, if you’re in Austin!
The staff was great, the food was amazing.
Service overall was fantastic.
Will definitely be back.
The food was excellent with a wide variety of options. Prices were overall high, but because of the large selection, you could settle with some less expensive items. And of course, you have to try one of the desserts they are famous for. Overall, a very enjoyable evening.
Delightful time as usual. Food and service were great. Luke did a fantastic job dealing with our substitutions.
Bad hostess, not good waitress and my salad was not impressed. I can have a better salad with the 1/2 price. Sad because this is one of oldest restaurant around town we been here for years. But this time not so good.
This visit was quite disappointing - the food was not well seasoned. My chicken fried steak was tough, niece’s steak was tough, the garlic butter lacked garlic flavor, my list could go on. The prices are too high for mediocre food. Our waiter was very good, but the food left a lot to be desired. I’d much rather spend that amount of money someplace where the food quality is much better.
George was our wonderful waiter! Thanks so much for a great brunch!
Chez Zee is one of my very favorite Austin restaurants. The food and service is consistently good. Of course the desserts are the best!!
Never disappoints. “Old Austin” at its best! Great variety in the menu and always enjoyable.
The food was good but there was a loud table which made it hard to talk to my family during dinner.
A lovely place for a pre-show dinner. The crab cakes were perfectly seasoned and sitting in the bearnaise sauce rather than being covered by it. The apple chutney was a nice accompaniment. The lemon rosemary trout was flaky and fresh. The smoked pork tenderloin was beyond tender. It was drizzled with black cherry sauce, which I would have requested on the side had I known, but it was not overpowering and the flavor of the smoked meat came through. All the sides were tasty, as was the crusty loaf of bread with its dipping oil. All-in-all, a great date night meal!
