We go there quite often and have never been disappointed
The service was outstanding ! The food was the best! The whole dining experience was Excellent! Making reservations is the way to go. We had a large party and we were sited immediately.
The menu was interesting and the food delicious. Good service from the waitress. However, the decor and ambience left a lot to be desired...old-fashioned, frumpy, confused, Christmas lights and Valentine's lights still hanging, all higgledy-piggledy. Even the entrance was not clearly marked. I prefer restaurants that are modern, tidy, easy to understand.
The ambiance and food are unique and superb always! The service is outstanding! This is a true gem in Austin and we look forward to our visit every year! Can’t recommend this restaurant more highly!
We had a wonderful meal here with friends, who were there for the first time. We will be back.
The food was delicious... from appetizer to dessert and the salads and entrees in between. Portions were generous and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
It's been a few years since I last ate here. I was very pleased with the quality of the food and the prompt service This was an excellent choice for a business lunch.
Not is the setting a pleasant surprise, but the atmosphere delightful. Food: Excellent, from appetizer to desert.
Our Valentine's Dinner there was spectacular. Our waiter was considerate and his suggestions were perfect. We will be coming back soon, with friends and relatives! Thanks for being the best Valentine's location we could have ever experienced!
We had reservations for 8:15 and were seated about 8:45, but it was Valentine’s Day and super busy. But enough about that. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and was served very quickly after we ordered. But let’s get to dessert. The red velvet cheesecake-oh my gawd. Best thing I’ve ever had. I won’t mention the food hangover the next day (oops. I just did). Anyway, the entire experience was tremendous and I looked like a romantic god. Plus, I still had money when I left. You just can’t beat that.
It was a wonderful experience. The only negative thing would be the lack of parking, however it was valentine's day and the place was packed.
My GF and I went there for Valentines Day. It was romantic and delicious. What a wonderful experience. I couldn’t have asked for more.
Great place for Valentines Day
Our Valentine's Day meal was fantastic. We had prime rib and a strawberry salad with scallops. And the dessert was divine.... the Coco Leches Cake!!
Valentine’s dinner with friends. Service was great, our special request of a quiet table at the back was honored, food was delicious.
Valentine’s dinner. We dine frequently at Chez Zee on special occasions. Have never been disappointed by the food or service.
We dined at Chez Zee for Valentine's Day. It was our first visit, and won't be the last. The food was excellent. Mine came out so hot it had obviously come straight from the pan. The cheesecake is to die for. Best I've ever had, hands down. Our only complaint was the volume of the live piano music. It made conversation difficult; we would have preferred a quieter environment.
Dragged my reluctant bf to Chez Zee for Valentine's day dinner. He is strictly an Italian and American food guy & I'm a foodie! I'm happy to say that he's a fan. His steak was not cooked to his well done (ew) request, but he did not want to cause a fuss. The person in charge that day did come by the table when he was over halfway through and offered a dessert to make it right, but he declined.
My only complaint was the fact that our entrees came 5 or 10 minutes after our appetizers. I do not like feeling rushed during a meal & really don't appreciate it from a fine dining establishment such as this.
With the exception of the steak being under done the food was delicious, including the strawberry chocolate mousse cake I took home to savor later.
Love Chez Zee - Great as always! Amazing how consistent they remain...
Valentine lunch was fantastic. Our server, Callie, was great!
We love this place, and go often. Always good food, great service, great atmosphere!
There wasn't anything exceptional about this place, unfortunately. The menu looks fantastic - and if you like super-sweet, the creme brulee french toast will hit the mark. The huevos rancheros are a hard pass. The benedicts are OK, but everything seemed to lack seasoning. The best part: mimosas were reasonably priced.
Another wonderful family get together at Chez Zee. We love the atmosphere and the service. Some of us want our old favorites, but they always have something new for the rest. Always a treat!
It's always a treat to go to Chez Zee. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the food goes from good old comfort food to new ideas in food. The desserts are heavenly too. When I have out of town company, this is the spot I bring them.
Eh. I don't know. This used to be my FAVORITE place ever. Lately-the past two times my husband and I have gone to celebrate our anniversary and then most recently Valentine's Day, have been disappointing. I made reservations over a month ago for Valentine's Day dinner. We get there and we are told to wait 10 minutes, even though, there are SEVERAL tables available--I counted 15 free tables. Then parties without reservations for groups as big as 5 walked right in and were seated instantly. When we finally do get to sit down, we are placed at a small table directly by a drafty window when it is in the 30s outside. I asked to please move as I had made reservations a month ago and wanted to celebrate without shivering AND when there were plenty of tables around. The hostess seemed confused by this and told me the room was just cold, but ultimately complied.
As for the food, again, disappointed. My husband ordered the margarita pizza expecting something gourmet. But no, it looked like a kids meal pizza--small, very doughy (no crunch, no browned crust or bottom), and a glob of cheese on top. So much so that there cheese wasn't even melted and the dough was more like pita bread. I ordered the chicken fried steak and can say it had no taste at all. The winners of the meal were our appetizer of fried pickles and the mashed potatoes from the chicken fried steak. Our service felt very rushed-we were given the ticket before being asked if we wanted dessert. Then we were handed our to-go boxes at our table. Someone, a manager I suppose, came over and told us that they usually box up things in the back and apologized.
I will say that Chez Zee brunch is amazing! I just wish the food and service were more consistent.
I've been to Chez Zee many times and it's always consistently good. The ambiance and atmosphere is so festive! Staff is extremely friendly, great menu variety, and food is always good. Twinkling lights, lovely outdoor fireplace and heaters outside. It was a little too cold to enjoy this visit but they have a great outside area with lots of seating if you are waiting for a table. Small parking lot but they do offer valet parking in the evening so its never a problem.
Brunch was delicious! We enjoyed the Eggs Benedict Crabcakes... O'MyGosh... delicious. And we both had the Spicy Bloody Mary's, very good!
We always enjoy Chez Zee. They have a great variety of food and everyone can always find something that fits their dietary needs/wants. Unfortunately this time I has the Smoked Pork Tenderloin and although it had great flavor it was dry that is why the food rating is good instead of excellent. They have great desserts too!
Was very disappointed in our trip to Chez Zee. The hostess was grumpy and didn't welcome us. The restaurant was not extremely busy (only 3 people in line) and yet she seemed very rattled. The waitress was very good even though she was very busy. The food was horrible. I had the trout which was very fishy tasting which usually means it is not fresh. The mashed potatoes and vegetables had no seasoning. The Torta appetizer was dried out like it was sitting uncovered in a refrigerator. My husband had the chicken alfredo. The chicken was very dry and very burned. Most everything we had tasted and looked like it was left over from a previous day and reheated. Altogether a very expensive disappointment for lunch.
Love this place! Great service, great food, great ambiance! Staff is very friendly and helpful! I take friends/family here for any occasion!
