Chez Zee Ratings and Reviews
Hostess when we got there ignored us for like 3 minutes super frustrating then indicated we were having a special occasion meal and got seated in kid land. Then a manager moved us which was nice and had a fairly pleasant experience after that. The kahlua cake was average.
We have been to Chez Zee many times. The food is always excellent.
Normally I would say the service is too. The man was polite. However , our food came slowly. Our waiter brought a bottle of wine and 2 glasses; we did not order any alcohol. We waited a long time for the dessert menu after our meals were finished, even though we said we would have dessert after dinner when we ordered the entrees.
I asked the waiter twice if I could have my leftovers from my entree in a box. It never happened.
I gave up.
My husband asked for the check when we ordered the dessert . It did not happen either. Again, more wait time. Honestly, I was tempted to give one star for service , but the waiter was polite. Maybe he needs more training?
I usually enjoy this restaurant quite a bit; however, my husband's burger was not cooked to order--overdone. My pasta dish with grilled salmon was very good. We were seated at a table that was so crooked that it leaned considerably and had to request that it be fixed in order to eat. The curtain hanging nearby had an awful odor, so I had to move away and seat in the opposite direction. While the food was good and I would recommend going there for a lunch and especially trying the desserts, the restaurant really needs some upgrades. Someone needs to buy new curtains and tables or at least fix everything.
We use Chez Zee for our very special occasions. For years we have celebrated our Engagement and all of our engagement Anniversaries there. We go to Chez Zee to talk make our plans for the coming years goals together We go there to decide how we will celebrate our personal and marriage milestones. We want to grow together forever and Chez Zee has become part of that.
Chez Zee is our New Years Eve/ New Years Day family tradition. It was just immediate family this year and as usual we were very happy with our food, drinks and service. We ordered creme brulee to go and unfortunately that didn't quite make our top favorite list. First time in 20+ years that I wasn't impressed with the creme brulee. But, I can guarantee you I will order it again next time.
We have visited Chez Zee many times and loved it. On this occasion we left our car to be valet-parked, but the parking attendant ran over my wife's foot because he started moving the car before she had even shut the door and cleared the area. There was no significant injury, just soreness, but this is unsafe, inattentive driving. We reported this to the hosts, and my wife asked for and received an ice pack from the waiter.
At a minimum I would have expected an apology from the management and some assurance that there would be some admonishment of the parking crew. Instead I had the strong impression that this was not even reported to supervisors and that Chez Zee isn't very mindful of customer relationship issues.
Waiter was SUPERB. Live music was superb. Ambiance was superb. Price reasonable/fair. Parking attendants superb. Had to ask for another table...first had kitchen door opening into ours. :-( Wish there were tablecloths. Wish every time could be as perfect as the first several...they’re what has me returning, even though seating is sometimes odd. Overall, I’m pleased Chez Zee is here...just wish it could stay consistent. Thanks.
I took my mom for brunch recently and we both enjoyed it. Initially, we were seated at a table directly under the heat vent but when we asked to move, they quickly switched our table. The brunch was delicious and the service excellent. We'll definitely be back!
Eclectic Austin landmark, Chez Zee did a phenomenal job for our wedding anniversary. Great food and drink. Appetizers were tasty, and promptly served. The granddaughter enjoyed her child's meal. We had the bonus of live a capella singing from a group of carolers in Dickens period costume.
Altogether, this is our go-to restaurant for special occastions.
Extensive eggs benedict menu with many different varieties. I had the portabelliono benedict and my companion had the baked polenta eggs benedict. Both were delicious. Extensive dessert menu. Even with all of the options, there were specials. We split the oreo mint cheesecake and it was terrific. The only downside to the dining experience is the noise level due to the acoustics in the dining room. We were sat next to a table of eight people celebrating a birthday and had to practically yell throughout our conversation since they were so loud.
