We had a great time with family celebrating a birthday. Excellent food, service, and ambiance. A fabulous Austin restaurant we have treasured for a long time.
We reserved a table and it was not very desirable table.
I had specified "birthday" on my reservation, but was surprised to arrive and find banners on the table and a Happy Birthday sign. It was a very nice touch. The food is always excellent, and my friend had a choice between two desserts. She chose the coconut tres leeches cake, and it was delicious!
The only problem is parking. . . The valet service is slow, and it's easily a 10-15 minute wait during the busiest hours. The way to beat it is to park off site.
As usual, it was a wonderful dining experience. Food and service was very good!
Wonderful dining! Service was impeccable
Nice spot, food was good but nothing extraordinary. Not the place to go for privacy as the tables are really close together. Parking is tight but valet is available. Would return.
Ex went food. Cool atmosphere. Chaotic but still felt intimate. No noise issues.
Waiter was inexperienced.
Person in charge was attentive
This is one of our favorite Austin restaurants. My red snapper was outstanding. My husband always goes for the prime rib. They even have an expresso coffee machine so you get the real stuff. Desserts are a;ways wonderful.
It was my wife's birthday and she enjoyed everything including the wonderful cake slice with a candle. Everyone has positive comments about the food. I had the pecan crusted chicken and found it tasty but quite dry. I was also slightly disturbed when the check was immediately brought to the table before we were asked if we wanted anything else. That was disappointing but I still enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone.
A group of friends and I meet at Chez Zee a few times a year for brunch. Excellent food, great variety, fresh coffee. I personally love their Spicy Bloody Mary and Zee Migas with avocado. We will return!
Nick, our server was excellent and helped us make good choices on our first visit. We were in town on vacation and the availability on what turned out to be a UT football Friday was welcome. Your food and wine offerings are spectacular.
Not sure if I would recommend Chez Zee to a friend at this point or not. Probably would with the caveat that our last few visits have definitely been a mixed bag. This most recent visit, at least all of our food was good again, more like what we have received in the past here. However, the service again was pretty poor, I rated it a two reluctantly but ultimately, we did get what we ordered delivered to our table so I guess that's fair. Drinks were not refilled at all, we couldn't even find our server after waiting a full 10 minutes after the last person (who eats slowly) finished eating, to get our bill, finally received it and another 10 passed without her picking it up, so we had to go to the front & pay the manager on the way out. Once again, sad service but at least the food was good again this time! Highly recommend the chicken fried angus steak & the cake trio sampler to share amongst 3 people!
I’ve never been disappointed at Chez Zee
This is a GO TO place for my friends and family. Consistent Food and Service. Good experience and Ambiance. My only call out is that they have a Piano Player on Saturday nights and it is super loud and difficult to hold conversations if you are stuck on that side of the room. I always forget that and end up in that room and the grandparents are never happy about it.
Great meal as always. The menu is diverse which is great when no one can decide where to eat. Our waitress was very friendly but not as efficient as she might have been so we were not served bread and water glasses stayed empty for a stretch. The bread with smoky olive oil is a big draw there! She was probably at the end of a long shift.. .
We used OpenTable to book as we usually do but Chez Zee didn't acknowledge our anniversary even though we'd written it when prompted during the reservation process. I happened to notice a celebration banner on another table on the way out and asked what they do for anniversaries. They lovingly gave a slice of yummy cake to go but we definately felt like we were just a number while there in the corner. Our server brought our mimosas out separately after we'd reminded her we both ordered one. Not an ideal anniversary spot for a LOUD Sunday brunch at 11:30am. We've been coming here for years so we were a little disappointed. Overall, great place though.
Chez Zee never disappoints when it comes to brunch. From the warm croissants with strawberry butter to the french toast to the eggs benedict everything was delicious!
Our waiter, Julio, was very personable and he made certain that everyone enjoyed all parts of our visit - without being intrusive. Flavors and portions were outstanding. Ambiance was energetic, warm, and welcoming. Highly recommended.
My wife and I went for Saturday Brunch. The food was very tasty and the service was great. We will return. Because there is a lot of wood and stone, noise levels (other conversations) is very high. This will not stop us from returning, however.
Chez Zee has been a family favorite for 30 years. It is unfortunate that you do not offer a meal for someone on a vegan diet. Called before arrival and was told there are plenty of vegan options when the only available item was one chocolate dessert. This makes it hard to enjoy Chez Zee with my family and I can’t say I will be back anytime soon. There are so many ways that plant based food can be incorporated into mainstream dining. It would be nice to see Chez Zee make some changes to at least offer a few items on the menu.
Everything would have been 5 stars but there was an event in your extra room and parking was horrible. Yes there was valet but there was a long line just to do valet. You should have a separate parking area for your event customers.
Wonderfully diverse menu. GREAT SERVICE! Lunchtime business meeting started at 1:30 ... and ended 3 hours later. So impressed and grateful that oOur server never rushed us in any way.
It has been several years since we visited Chez Zee when we lived nearby. We now live in Georgetown but needed a place to take guests in Austin. Our good memories of Chez Zee led us to our choice to make reservations at Chez Zee. Wonderful choice! Even better than our good memories :-) .
This is my fave Austin restaurant. They are personable, have a playful sense of humor, and the menu is inventive and delicious.
Always great, fun atmosphere with seasonal decorations, friendly staff
Overall a very disappointing visit to Chez Zee. We've been there many times in the past & enjoyed, but this visit, the service was medicore from beginning to end & the food was bad to mediocre, just not what we expect or usually get from Chez Zee. Sadly, I don't think we will be going there again for Brunch anyway, due to the sub par food & service. We may try again at lunch time some time, or for a special treat for our granddaughter some afternoon. This recent experience was definitely not a good one.
Great place for breakfast! We had a wonderful experience.
We had 10 o’clock reservations yesterday morning, food should have been fresh that early! potatoes tasted a day old, quiche was crazy runny. have not been here in years, was hoping to show our in town guests our used to be hidden gem in Austin, was very disappointed.
Went for our 20th Wedding
Anniversary, and restaurant had a Special Decorated Table for us. Food was phenomenal, but service was extremely slow. I think our waiter had too many Large Tables he was having to service. It took a really long time to just get water & the drinks we ordered!
Dining room is a bit quirky, but fun. I had a pretty basic meal, but everything was prepared well. Service was exceptional. Nice experience!
Great service. Wonderful food!!
My husband and I went to Chez Zee for my birthday celebration. The staff decorated my table with “celebration” ribbon and a “Happy Birthday” place card. Our waiter, Mario, was fabulous and granted all of my requests while keeping our iced tea glasses full and clearing all used dinnerware from the table. He also told me that my dessert was on the house, so that made me very, very happy! The food was delicious, as always. Chez Zee is my favorite place to dine in Austin. I always treat my out-of-town guests to a meal there.
Love the brunch, ambiance, eclectic and fun!
Wonderful service and terrific brunch! I’ve been going here since moving to Austin in 1997. Never disappoints! ❤️
Chez Zee is an old favorite. The entire menu shines, but the desserts are legendary. Best Italian cream cake in town, and try the Kahlua Crunch pie which is amazing.
We went for my daughter's birthday. Everything was wonderful. The food was great. Our server was terrific. There were banners on the table, and a Happy Birthday sign. And management comped her dessert. We had a wonderful time.
Love meeting friends a Chez Zees to enjoy great food and drinks!!!
Not up to prior experience
Our group of friends always enjoys our get togethers at Chez Zee. Food is great, atmosphere can sometimes be a bit loud, but we like the energy. Service is excellent!
