My husband’s pork chop was flavored well but a bit dry. Everything else was delicious!!!👏
Terrible service only 1 server and a while restaurant full of people. We waited over 30 minutes for everything! The food was meh and there’s a sign in the front entrance that says if you bring your own birthday cake to the restaurant they will charge you $50 DOLLARS!!!!! Ridiculous! We will not be returning!
Excellent food and good value.
Great food and service...………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
In a party of four it was our first experience and a good one. The food was excellent. Each person had a different selection - duck, sea scallops, chicken and salmon. All of us said we would definitely order these dishes again. The food is very well prepared with fresh ingredients and tasty sauces. And, there are a number of nice French wines to accompany the meal. The tab, $140.00 that included a bottle of wine (before the gratuity) for the four of us was reasonable based on the quality of the meals. Glad to see the restaurant doing so well on a Wednesday evening. We shall return.
What a gem in the heart of old Milford! Our server (Renee, not the owner though) was lovely! She gave us many recommendations, and each dish that we tried was outstanding! We would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommend. :)
This was not a good experience/ for 3 of us that ordered Mussels - they were cold chewy and tasteless - we sent them back - they were cooked better but still almost no liquid and not a lot of flavor. To add to our disappointment, the bread they served was grilled probably in Olive oil and it smelled rancid.
The carrots were soggy and overcooked. This is not a place I would give a second chance.
First time there. Wonderful food and great service.
Chez Renée is always a treat. Server was attentive and helpful.
I will start out by saying the food is excellent but the staff need som direction. Nestled in Old Milford this small and minimally furnished restaurant sits along Main Street and provides a view of the busy street of cars and pedestrians alike. Upon arrival we were seated quickly and assigned a waitress. When seated at most restaurants or when the waiter/waitress arrives it seems customary to be asked if we have dined there before, briefly explain the menu, etc. Since this did not occur we heard the couple next to us struggling to order sides as it apparently a a separate small menu at the table- something that seems should be pointed out. Having the menu explained would have also help alleviate questions about the main dinner choices and the sauces they come with too. Maybe, if one is not familiar with the restaurant they may need a description of the flavors and how light or heavy they may. Luckily, we saw the other patrons struggle and figured out the menu situation so we were ready. After receiving our drinks we did not see anyone for about 5 minutes or so and the nice young lady who sat us noticed we had not received bread and apologized and quickly rectified that. Our particular setting sat along the large window looking out onto the street. The view isn’t bad as much as the noise through the old windows. Given a large number of loud cars and motorbikes passing through dinner I realized one huge improvement of this old building would be a better window to lessen the noise and make the dinner more enjoyable. Combined with wood floors there isn’t much to absorb the noise so I would suggest requesting a seat in the back area away from the front. The only other thing that didn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the restaurant was the presentation of the mousse. It was excellent, but the presentation in a mason jar with sprinkles (odd) made it seem as an afterthought. TL;DR Great food, staff needs to be more informative. A little loud by the window.
A quaint, small family owned business with a great menu and enthusiasm, however short on help but very apologetic. Spotty on the food, the mushroom soup was amazing, as well as the seafood but a basic burger with fried egg on top were overcooked, and they ran out of frittes (fries), and several other items. They are licensed to sell beer and wine, which took forever to get, poor management on their end, as you want to keep the customers happy if they have to wait. As it is a small business, I would give them another try, but several in our party were hungry and tired of waiting for both food and drink.
Great food and service.
Food was really excellent and beautifully presented! Don't skip dessert, or you will miss out! We'll be back to Chez Renee, soon!
This is my second experience at Chez Renée and has definitely won a spot at the top of my favorite spots in Cincinnati.
Good food, but don't be in a hurry! Slow service on a night where it shouldn't be; business was light at the restaurant.
As a ‘best new restaurant’ in the Cincinnati area was very disappointed. Drove a distance to try. Out of Cabernet Franc which in and of itself not an issue. The rational that ‘it’s out is season’ was stupefying. The salmon appetizer was good. The duck was served cool and the skin was not crispy as a good duck should be. Sorry to say but over hyped.
Have been there before and came back because the food was so good. This time the food was exceptional but the portion was minuscule. We both ordered quiches-3 cheese( house specialty) and Loraine. The waitress advised that it was a flat quiche but an eighth if an 8 inch pizza is insulting especially at $10+. We both had the full size quiche plus one side. The waitress advised to get the full serving plus 1 side, wonder what the lunch special would be
Love this lovely bistro in quaint Milford. The food is good, but not always consistent.
Wonderful quaint restaurant with incredible food. Will definitely go again.
Love Che Renee. Great little restaurant in the heart of Milford. Have never had a disappointing meal there.
Service was great, offered wine and food selections. Attentive and friendly. Able to sample a couple of wines before ordering.
Ordered the bouillabaisse and it was delicious. The halibut was the best part of the dish. Mussels were so so.
Turquoise decor, soft, ambient music.
Had a lovely girls night!
Solid - but not exquisite - French bistro fare. I had the Moule et frites special, and the Moule sauce was not as good as I had in another French restaurant (it looked milky and didn't have much flavor). My husband's Croque Monsieur was excellent, however. The cassoulet is also very good.
We had dinner for four on a Saturday night. We had not been to Chez Renee before and were very surprised that there was only one other table occupied. The food, service and atmosphere were all first class. We would strongly recommend this restaurant to others. Milford needs to support this excellent
While the food was good, it was not stellar. I enjoyed my quiche and salad, but my partner's burger was just "Okay. Nothing Special." It seemed odd that the chef/cook would give you halved cherry tomatoes and tiny mini gherkin pickles instead of a nice slice of tomato and pickle slices. The frites were good and hot. The quiche was surprising creamy and filling despite the fact that it looked like a thin slice of pizza... It did not look like a typical quiche. The chocolate crepe was good, but would have been better with a dollop of whipped cream versus a teaspoon, especially since it was being shared. Outside of food, the décor is really tired and worn. The electric candle on the table was tacky and it didn't work. The restaurant was dark on a dreary morning. The turquoise color is a bit overwhelming and the ceiling had a lot of old hooks and holes where a previous decoration or plant had been placed. The old photos hanging around did nothing to "lift" the somber feeling of the place. The server was friendly and efficient, but the restaurant did not have change available when I paid with cash, which I thought would be the preference of a small business. Another employee was going door-to-door on Main Street, seeking change. It appeared that the owners were half interested in running a success bistrot. I would like to go back on a sunny day and have the Croque Monsieur. If I wait long enough they may have time to freshen up the place.
Great place for my birthday meal! Excellent service! I recommend the mushroom soup and chocolate mousse. Delicious!
Chez Renee is an adorable gem of a restaurant. The food is amazing and I love the more relaxed atmosphere. It’s great to sit and not be rushed out a la the chain restaurant. Try anything on the menu — you won’t regret it.
Decided to go out to dinner at last minute and wanted some place different. We enjoyed lunch at this restaurant several times so based on those experiences, chose it for dinner. The atmosphere was pleasant, the service timely and excellent and the food reminded us of bistros where we have dined in small towns traveling through France. They also had a nice selection of wine by the glass and by the bottle which we thought were reasonably priced. Overall, a very enjoyable evening.
Very quaint hideaway in historic Milford. Food, service and ambiance match and make a rewarding spot for romantic couples. Or a few friends.
Excellent food and ambient. Great value! The hot Brie is wonderful. Also had the vegetable plates, salmon skewers and egg curry salad. Everyone was happy with their meal.
Wonderful authentic French food. Simple fresh ingredients prepared beautifully. Reasonably priced for the quality. Fish/ shellfish and vegetarian options were stellar.
As always the food was delicious. We love the relaxed flow of dining here.
The food was very good and reasonably priced. The seating is cramped and you end up overhearing the entire conversation of the table next to you. The wait staff leaves some to be desired. The table next to us was being cleaned while we were eating our meal, and they sprayed us with cleaning solution in the process without apology. Another unfortunate side effect of seating being so cramped. If close quarters and a noisy restaurant don't bother you, then it's worth a try for the good food.
We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but were very disappointed. We were seated behind the door in a cramped location. I noticed the patron next to us had taken three pillows and left me with one. Very uncomfortable booth and too close to the other couple to carry on a semi-private conversation. Waitress was very sweet and pleasant, but brought out the wine bottle we ordered, already open, and without showing us the label. The young man waiting on the people adjacent to us was talking loudly and joking that he couldn't pronounce the things on the menu. I would think there would be training for this. Our hot brie was delivered room temperature, after waiting quite a while for it to be served, and my side salad came with the dinner, instead of being served beforehand, which we had agreed to when our waitress had offered it. The salad itself was very underwhelming: mixed greens with four cherry tomatoes and topped with untoasted walnuts. Walnuts go from ordinary to awesome with just a little toasting. The walnut oil served in a paper cup had no other flavoring. My seafood au gratin was pretty good, except that the cream sauce was a little overpowered by herbs. My partners scallops in puff pastry dish was very dry. We shared dessert: a crepe with peanut butter and chocolate, which we enjoyed.
The wine was old and had turned...the food was covered and smothered with cheese and just really not French. The duck was extremely rare. The food is expensive and not a complete meal...things are ala cart.
Food and service was very good. This is a bistrot...not a full serve restaurant. They offer a very nice selection of lighter foods and a few major piece entrees. Two of our party had their salmon salad which was greeted with raves. I had an egg chicken curry sandwich which I had to make myself put down. When we arrived the music was just a little loud and they very kindly adjusted. Their wine list was o.k. and priced with served wine around town $10-14/glass. As usual, if you are planning on having a few...best at home. The decor is warm, but a little dated.
The mushroom soup was super creamy & the spices perfectly balanced. The giant macaroon was better than pastry we have had in Paris. The chocolate ganache was stellar, excellent dessert from top to bottom.
I had heard so many nice things but was very disappointed. I had mushroom soup which was very thin with little mushroom flavor and salmon quiche. The quiche was barely room temperature. Perhaps if it had hit the flavors would have been better. The puff pastry on top of the soup was excellent.
My friend said her salmon burger was ok but not nearly as good as others she had had in the city.
Our waitress seemed to be overwhelmed and rushed. Had to keep asking for more water.
It had been nearly a year since we'd last been to Chez Renee and even though it is less than 1 1/2 miles from our home, there are so many restaurants and not enough time. That might've been the case before last Saturday evening but not any longer when it is Chez Renee we're speaking of. We'll return frequently and with great pleasure.
What a delightful, cozy french-country bistro. Makes you feel like you've found a bit of rustic French in Cincinnati. Scallops on Phyllo special was a real pleasant surprise. Cassoulet was thick with duck and pork, delicious and large enough to share. That makes room for appetizers - hot brie and toast very well-prepared, with finely-chopped apple and grape. Wine list is affordable, including a good selection of nice-quality glass selections. Great use of fresh herbs, added late in the preparation to enhance the freshness of the dish. Atmosphere is a very nice store front. Service is friendly and efficient but not stuffy. Very affordable for the quality of the food.
