Chez Pierre Bistro is an authentic French Bistro, one everybody wishes they had in their neighborhood. Most of the dining is in the charming covered patio where the ambiance is intimate, friendly and always very professional. Prepared by Chef Pierre with the knowledge, passion and respect of the seasonal ingredients from the farmer’s market, the food is superb. The specials on the blackboard are impressive, unusual and follow the seasons. In winter you can find Chef Perre’s famous cassoulet to wild game; In the spring shad roe and soft shell crabs; and in the summer you can find paella, steak tartar, and pomme frites.
It’s no surprise that Chez Pierre has been voted The Best French Restaurant of the Desert for the past six years and has been rated “Dining Excellence” by Zagat and Gayot.

We were disappointed with Google directions sending us to Pierre's old location, after about half hour of wandering we called the restaurant and were given good directions, finally there!
Looking back the place was worth the scramble to get there. Met by very pleasant waiter and seated immediately. Ordered cocktails for my wife and I and relaxed listening to Charles Aznavour singing favorite french song. After 20-25 minutes ordered their special bluepoint oysters and found them fresh, tasty and most delicious at a very reasonable price. I then ordered petites frog legs provencales and my wife orange ruffie, both dishes were excellent, tasty and properly prepared. Though the frogs legs could have used more sautéed garlic to further enhence the delicacy. All in all we rate THIS RESTAURANT FIVE STARS and wish it great success in the future. Nos meullieurs souhaits a Monsieur Pierre et son equipage.
Never Disappoints. We've become regulars at Chez Pierre with its delicious menu selection and wonderful execution. The experience is further enhance by its incredibly priced Prix Fixe option, which allows you to select a three-course meal from the entire menu for a price of only $29.95 making it a true French bistro dinning experience. My wife had the perfectly-prepared Orange Ruffy, while I can't seem to get beyond the Sweetbreads which are alway superb.
What a wonderful find! We loved our whole experience. Chef greated us when we arrived. Pate was excellent, Cesar salad arrived with anchovies, sweetbreads were tender and plentiful. We each had the prix fixe 3 course meal with lots of choices. We may be back this week for the soft shelled crab! This will definitely be one of our regulars when in Palm Desert!
chef does not disappoint. the restaurant was surprisingly busy for non season.
waiter did best he could do but he was serving alone at least 7tables, no bus boy.
pate and bread, salad were delightful. my veal was not wonderful however my companion had sweetbreads which were good. martini and wine also served by the waiter were good.
rice pudding for dessert was nice. a nice meal but underwhelming overall.
There are many good restaurants in Palm Desert, and this is our favorite. Whenever we are in town we always make sure we have a reservations at Chez Pierre's . The food is excellent, and the wait staff is attentive and welcoming. The restaurant is quiet and very special. We definitely have recommended it to our friends and family. We also also always take our guest to Chez Pierre's. We strongly recommend Chez Pierre's.
We have eaten here a number of times, but PIerre was open this summer for the first time in his 16 years so we went once a month since May.
As always, we had a terrific meal. The summer deals are still in effect, so I had the veal stew with a small Caesar salad, & the profiteroles for desert. My wife had a Caesar salad & the soft shell crabs. Both main dishes were excellent.
We lived in the Washington, DC area for 36 years and soft shells are a specialty in the Baltimore-Washington area. I can say the way they are cooked here is as good as you can find in the mid-Atlantic. I have had them elsewhere in the valley & they are OK. Pierre does them justice.
He also cooks veal as well as it can be done and this stew is fabulous. Try it is you have not. The meat is tender and perfectly seasoned.
This is a really good restaurant and we will continue to be regulars.
Love this quiet, small restaurant that offers some outstanding food. Love the white tablecloths and the little bit of Paris atmosphere. Love that the chef is actually there and cares about the food that leaves the kitchen. Love the prix fixed menu as well as the soft shell crab that is sometimes offered on the specials. Love that it isn't too far a drive from La Quinta.
That being said, I really hope that Chef Pierre will continue to belong to the Wine Vault program. There are severak excellent wines on restaurant wine list, many at reasonable prices, but for those of us with Wine Vault memberships, this is a greatly added value and allows us to dine here more frequently.
Chef Pierre came by our table to tell us about their entrees and introduce himself. The food was wonderful. I had veal pot roast and it was divine! My husband had the Bistro steak which was great as well. The price fixe dinner included an appetizer, entree and dessert for a very reasonable price.
It was a totally delightful dining experience while celebrating our anniversary and we will go again n when in the mood for authentic French food!
We just enjoyed an excellent, very authentic diner. While our comments are minimal, we highly recommend this restaurant! Comments: cut the sauce on the Tarte Tatin - it takes away from the quality of the pastry and add more ice cream to the profiteroles! Salad with goat cheese --excellent. Chicken Paillarde and veal Milanese excellent. Servers couldn't be better. Hostess lovely and chef visited tables. Great night! PS - espresso was week and didn't do justice to the dinner.
Every time we return to Chez Pierre, it seems the experience simply gets better and better. On our most recent visit, we tried the Chef's special summer prix fixe menu. And it was terrific, offering a wide choice of both appetizers and entrees as well as some classic desserts. Not only was the cuisine excellent -- the service was outstanding, too. You can't go wrong by dining at Chez Pierre!
Loving Pierres, especially since they have joined the Wine Vault! Exceptional food, good service and a real chef on the premises who cares about the food preparation as well as his patrons. It's a small restaurant with tablecloths and an intimate atmosphere. It's definitely one of the best this side of the desert. But shhh, don't tell everybody. Oh, and they have a very reasonable 3-course dinner during the summer.
This first time visit will not be our last as the food was fabulous. More than generous portions of difficult to find, delicious dishes. Steak Tartare, Sweet Breads, Frogs Legs, yum. Prices are reasonable and the 3 course meal has many choices for only $30.
Chez Pierre is in our top ten desert restaurants. We have been going there since he opened next to Trader Joe's. It is always fun talking with Pierre, that why we go early when it isn't crowded. Pierre even fixed us a small tasting of Sweetbeards that we explained never tried. That's how costumer conscious he is. Oh ... yes. Arturo is a "professional" waiter!
