I'm sure we're in the minority but we had a terrible experience at Chez Nous. Maybe it was an off night but it was OFF. we wanted to celebrate our anniversary there because we had heard such good things about it. Unfortunately we did not experience any of the good aspects. We showed up at our reservation time and there was confusion about where they were going to seat us. That took about 5 minutes to sort out. Odd that they didn't have it all set up since all they do is reservations but things happen so no biggie we thought. When we got seated, the hostess pulled out the table for my wife to sit which was a nice touch. The waiter brought the drink menu right away. We picked what we wanted but no one checked on us for over 10 minutes. I had to flag someone down to order our drinks. There were waiters all standing in a corner of the room but I couldn't tell you what they were doing. We had perused the current menu online before and my wife was excited to try out the 7oz Tournedos. My wife could not find it on her menu but it was on my menu. We asked the waitress about the discrepancy and she came back to state it was a mistake and they were out. She said she'd inform the manager immediately but no one came by. 20 minutes after we placed our order, the manager I'm guessing came by to see how everything was and we told her what happened. She was surprised because no one told her about any issues.... They immediately took our menus and checked the rest for the discrepancy. To add insult to injury, she stated we could have ordered a different cut of meat like a filet and it would have been done like the Tournedos. Well too late for that suggestion. A better one would have been can we get you that instead. The manager said she'd take care of us for the issues. That was a joke. She comped the desert they were already going to comp for our anniversary. That was the first and last time we'll go to this restaurant. An anniversary night ruined.

Got the chefs table with wine pairing. It was magnificent! Highly recommend!

We loved our date night at Chez Nous. Everything was wonderful. The service was fantastic, the food superb and the overall experience just brilliant.

Very good restaurant. The attentiveness and service by the waitstaff was impeccable. All the food was very good. Two minor dings: 1. It took awhile for the entrée to arrive. Maybe they were shorthanded in the kitchen. 2. Lighten up on the salt. My carrot slices and my wife's spinach bed had way too much salt. We think half the amount would have still flavored properly. We asked for and had the most chocolaty, sweet dessert. Oh my word. It was absolutely decadent. You had to let the vanilla ice cream and the chocolate rest on the tongue and savor the dessert experience. This restaurant is a dining delight experience.

We enjoyed my wife’s birthday celebration upon our return to Texas after 19 years in the Carolinas. The food was excellent, the service outstanding. A truly outstanding occasion. Thanks.

Chez Nous never disappoints. I always expect the food to be great, but lately I’ve had to make severe diet restrictions, which makes eating out challenging. The chef was able to accommodate and the sides for my salmon were perfect. The service was attentive without hovering, friendly but not intrusive. Impeccable service is so hard to find and greatly appreciated. This restaurant has it fine tuned. I would go for the service even if the food was not good (maybe). But I don’t have to worry about that. As I said, Chez Nous never disappoints.

When we thought our dining experience at this restaurant couldn’t possibly get any better, it did. This place sets the bar too high for anyone else to even come close. Highly recommended.

Once more, it was great! Started off with the French onion soup, which was awesome. Then, ordered the Chateaubriand, it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the Caesar salad and a seared filet with a creamy Cognac demi glaze sauce....he loved it! It was also cooked perfectly. All paired with a great bottle of wine - Venge Silenciaux. I also had a martini, I can't recall the name, but it's a house drink and it was delicious. Finished our dinner with an Irish coffee...no room for dessert this time :)
This is a great place, it never disappoints, so glad it is in our backyard sort of speak. Everyone working there is so nice and helpful in making your choice the right choice; they make you feel special. Love it, love it. This restaurant should be in your "bucket list".

Loved it! Quiet romantic atmosphere. Classical music playing in background. We got the foie gras, escargot, filet and rack of lamb. Deeeelish!

We’ve been going to Chez Nous since 1986 when it first opened. The owners have changed but the dining experience remains the best in Houston. The service,the intimate ambiance and meals are still superb. It is always a special night out.

We went to celebrate my oldest daughters birthday. As soon as we sat down, my daughter said she thought she was in France. Service was attentive but not irritating. The food presentation pleasing and taste wonderful as we found it on previous visits. Really like the consistency.

We always love going to Chez Nous for special occasions. They truly know us and track our special dates and anniversaries. The atmosphere and food are incredible. Perfect spot for special outings.

My wife and I did the chef's menu and wine pairings, it was fantastic. The waitor did an excellent job with the pairings and every plate was better than the last.

Excellent menu selections and our entrees (Muscovy Duckling and Filet Mignon) were spot on. The salad (romaine, apple, figs, and feta with a vinaigrette dressing) was incredible! The wine selection is ver good and the Chez Nous Grand Marnier Soufflé was outstanding!

As usual and as expected, Chez Nous exceeded expectations. This is an establishment that you would expect to find in the middle of downtown Houston with a much more exclusive set of diners. Located in an out of the way part of Humble, Chez Nous delivers a superior dining experience.
Their COVID precautions are prevalent, obvious, yet not invasive. Thank you for that:-)
There is no way to completely express how tasty and well prepared and presented the meal was. Everything from the appetizers (onion soup was FABULOUS) through our entrees, desert, and the wine ware A+++. As a wanna-be chef, I’m amazed at the nuance and skill in the selection of ingredients, their preparation, seasoning, and presentation are without equal in this region of Texas.
I would ask anyone who is considering dining at Chez Nous to treat this establishment as a special occasion to take a couple of hours to spend quality time over an outstanding meal. Please, no shorts ant tshirts - it truly detracts from everything the chef/owner is trying to present. Have a little respect and wear a collared short and pants - this isn’t McDonnalds.

50th birthday

Hands down the best dining experience in the Lake Houston area. A delightful seasonal menu, fresh ingredients, expertly cooked and professionally served.

We never are disappointed when we go to Chez Nous. We have been customers since 1997. Always a wonderful experience. One of these days we will get to meet the chef?

Food and service was fabulous. Soufflé was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!

We had a very nice meal with excellent service. The noise was higher than normal due to a larger group of young people who had no respect for others in the restaurant. The group was rudely loud.

Always a great experience. Staff was attentive, food and selection is wonderful. Never had a bad item. Great place to meet with friends for an "adult" date night. We will be back again and again.

We go the Chez Nous once a year for our Anniversary and have done so for years. The food has always been excellent, the wine list more than adequate, the service superb.

It's a well-run, special place.

We've eaten at Chez Nous 3 times since they reopened following COVID. Two of the three dining experiences have been fair and one was outstanding. They are normally on top of everything with well trained servers and the food is consistently great. However, they're having a difficult time regrouping. Not sure if this is because they've begun another dining adventure in another part of Houston or what might be the problem. I was called 20 minutes before our reservation to tell us that the table wouldn't be available but we were already in route and our business associate we were taking to dinner was already in route too. They then asked if we could sit in our car and wait until they called us. I told them that would be tremendously embarrassing to have to tell our guests that. Nonetheless, we stalled visiting with our guests outside the restaurant but entered right at 7 PM, our reservation time and their was hardly a table open. They seated us in a nice booth but the service in this part of the restaurant has been poor both times we've been seated in this area thus why we asked for a specific table not in the other area. The problems began when we waited an HOUR before we got our order taken and I had to stop the server who was running by to wait on a private party in the bar (which was also the problem we had the previous time) and ask if we could please put in our order. I had to ask for bread too. The food was just fair too, not the exceptional food that they had always served and was outstanding 2 weeks ago. I'm sure hoping Chez Nous will work through these problems and return to the exceptional dining experience they've always provided.

My birthday. Always wanted to try Chez Nous and this was perfect time. COVID-19 protocols were adhered to. Menu is tried and true French classics. I had the charcuterie starter followed by the duo of duck. Dessert was delightfully decorated with birthday wishes. Food was delicious well seasoned but presentation on the plate was a bit heavy handed. Service outstanding. The wine list was very approachable with good value and range.

We were celebrating news that we didnt get laid off at work. Overall fantastic experience

Hadn’t been in a few years. Was absolutely as stellar as we remembered from the first time we went 14 years ago. Such a lovely restaurant - with a high level of service and culinary mastery. Enjoyed the escargot (always) - the duck and steak (Halloween menu) - followed by a salted caramel dessert (that we are every single bite of...) Looking forward you our next experience at Chez Nous. Happy to see them open and delivering the experience we’ve grown to love over so many years.

The food and ambience were well worth the 45min trek but service this was extremely disappointing. Mr. Winkler (I believe that was his name) was absent about 60% of the time so that we received foie gras without toast (arrived several minutes later, cold, burned, and with Mr. Winkler's muttered "you'll be needing this) and we sat in front of our finished, congealing entree dishes for about 10 minutes before they were taken away and we immediately received our dessert souffles before we received our spoons or were asked if we wanted coffee. also, not once did our server set down our plates with even a simple "hope you enjoy". although he was certainly dressed the part of a chez nous server and seemed genial with larger tables, we found him cold and standoffish and he left a very unpleasant taste in our mouths despite the wonderful food. he did mention that he was new, so perhaps that was the issue? our previous experience at Chez Nous was so wonderful that we had mentioned to our waiter that we thought this should be the first restaurant in the Houston area to win a Michelin star but we were never asked, not even once tonight, what we thought of our meal. Not sure if this is a sign of overall decline or just an off night, but it was disheartening to receive service that's worse than you'd get at a local chain restaurant like the Cheesecake Factory.
