Chez Moi Ratings and Reviews
Went New Year’s Eve and were somewhat disappointed. Our lobster tail and filet were undercooked; had to send our plates back to finish cooking. Server was underwhelming given the holiday. Place was great for Thanksgiving, other times of the year, but I would rethink NYE next year.
A terrific place to have dinner on New Year's Eve. This is the 3rd time we've been here (first to try it, second for my birthday, now NYE). It's a warm, cozy, friendly spot, the service is impeccable, and the food is fantastic. It's our new favorite French restaurant and one of our favorites in the city. My partner gets the steak frites every time because he says it's perfect. It was freezing outside that night and the French Onion soup was the perfect way to start. They had a special Holiday menu which had Duck L'Orange on it and, boy, was I glad I got that. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, and sauced, with a lot of crispy skin. Great profiteroles for dessert. This is the place for a date or an anniversary.
Lovely date night spot. We were seated in the back room which was really quaint and quiet. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu and wine. Everything was delicious. The molten cake though wasnt all that 'molten' but taste was good overall.
Had a very nice Christmas Eve dinner for two at Chez Moi. Found the food to be very good but not Great and I'll mark it up to being Christmas Eve but staff was stretched thin and our young man was not very versed in either the wine menu nor the entrees - had to keep asking someone else for help. When they were out of a specific wine that I had selected they were out and had to bump up to a much more expensive wine with no consideration from the management - not cool. I'll still go back as it's a quaint little dining establishment but probably not on a pressure night.
Fantastic neighborhood bistro, the restaurant is very cozy with a great feel to it. It felt as if I was eating in someones living room. Great selection of French wines and they carried my favorite French beer which is sometimes hard to find. Most of the classic french dishes are on the menu and the two that we had were great. I think to be able to drink, have an appetizer and two entrees and get out of there for just over a a hundred bucks is a win in the city of Chicago, especially since the food and service was so great.
Wonderful experience and our waiter enhanced that as well as well as the chef greeting us at the door. The French onions soup is the best I have ever tasted . Also had the tuna tartar and the crab cake with lobster bisque, also excellent ! Great ambience and will come back
I have always been a fan of Dominique. The ambiance and food were stellar. We arrived an hour early ( I know horrible) and were seated immediately. My guest, we were doing an early Birthday celebration, had not been before and he loved it!!! I wanted the cassoulet which is always fabulous, it didn’t disappoint. I only wis it as closer to me I would go every week!!!
The food was not very good. Everyone at our table had a fish entree, the salmon had an extreme fishy flavor and the skate wing did not taste fresh. The food was too heavy and did not exhibit a lot of skill. Appetizers and desserts were not much better. Everyone was very nice, it's a very cute spot, but unfortunately the food was not good at all. There are much better places to eat in that area.
Classic French Bistro in the truest sense. The kind of place you find in Paris and return to every evening of every trip. From the crusty bread to the fabulous last bite of perfectly prepared brunch Benedict (my husband had classic, I had crab) the meal was divine.
A Lincoln Park gem and totally worth the trek from The Loop. Can't wait to go back for dinner.
Authentic French bistro in Lincoln Park. Good for families as well as date night and friends' get togethers. Wide ranging French wine list by the glass and bottle. Attentive service, and chef/owner also can be seen in the dining room visiting with guests. Street parking available as well as valet
Chicago for Thanksgiving, we wanted to try something new rather than old favorites. Chez Moi took over the old Cafe Bernard space (sadly, never ate at that former Lincoln Park classic) and offered a great prix fixe deal that was hard to resist. My companion had French Onion Soup, Turkey and creme brulee while I opted for the quiche entree, Cassoulet Toulousain and chocolate mousse. Everything was excellent but the cassoulet exceeded most that I have had in Toulouse ... the sauce was a lighter olive oil and tomato, rather than heavier creamy gravy, and the meat (duck, sausage, lamb) was excellent quality in reasonable proportions. Neither of us were overfull and enjoyed our desserts with coffees. Next to us, one of that party had the steak frites and recommended it highly, so that will definitely be something to try on our next visit!
We’ve eaten our Thanksgiving dinner here for the past 4 years. Along with a choice of appetizers you get a traditional turkey dinner plus a delicious dessert. The French Onion Soup is the best I’ve ever had, and the Chocolate Mousse was delicious. Service was excellent and for $42.00 each, the meal is a good value. We’ ll be back next Thanksgiving for #5.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal at Chez Moi - the food was excellent although the desserts felt a little like they had come out of the freezer, not totally unexpected since they were very busy! I would definitely recommend the place - easy to talk and great service.
This was prix fixe Thanksgiving—there were enough other choices or you could just do the turkey special. Large portions; very good food value. We had to ask for bread and the desserts never came with forks, but otherwise service was very good. Dine in now to get $15 off coupons to use at a Xmas Eve or New Year’s Eve dinner!
I always like to go to Chez Moi for special occasions. It is very good food at a correct price point. Taking about basic bistro food, but often with a nice spin. The wine list is very good. The ambience is nice. Whenever I go there I am asking myself why I don’t go there more often.
We were attending a lecture at nearby Floating World Gallery and with an early reservation we enjoyed a warm welcome, good wine and excellent authentic French cooking. The ambiance is chic, clean and warm with lovely art and French music. Lighting perfect!
We started with wine to take the chill off a rainy, miserable night. The Crabcake in lobster bisque pool starter was magnifique! The pris fixe meal offering at $45 was perfect. It afforded choice of salad or soup, choice of entree, dessert choice and generous glass of Beaujolais!
That evening the entree we chose was coq au vin; every morsel and drop was tasty! The rustic bread also on table sopped up every trace!
This was a highly recommended spot (Yelp)that we were lucky to discover. Reservations would be a good idea!

Wonderful French Food. The best French Onion soup in the city. We both had the Steak Frites and the sauce on the steaks was remarkable. Nice tender steaks, frites were nice and thick, cooked right, loved the seasoning. Friendly service. A hidden gem in this city.
