Always a great meal and service. So glad it is in the neighborhood.
Classic French bistro in Lincoln park with amazing food. You won't be disappointed.
We visited Chez Moi on Valentine's Day weekend after a matinee at the Steppenwolf and enjoyed it immensely. We started with the escargot pastry and split the French onion soup and both were delicious. Our main courses, Cassoulet Toulousain & Boef Bourguignon, were excellent and paired well with the Chateau St. Bernard Bourdeaux. Service was good. Our only issue was we felt a bit rushed at first but the server slowed things down upon our request.
Excellent service, great ambiance, terrific food.
Food was great. We were there on Valentine's Day so seating was a bit cramped.
I made reservations for Valentine’s Day. At first the hostess was very accommodating, but when we sat the waitstaff was not. We couldn’t put in our appetizer order unless we put in our entrees at the same time. They tried taking my over half full drink multiple times through out the night. Then gave us the check before we could see a dessert menu. I understand it’s a busy night and you have to turn tables, but I would have liked to sit down for more that 45 minutes to enjoy my night.
My wife and I went here for the first time in Saint Valentine’s Day. The place was really crowded and pretty hectic, but the wait staff handled everything pretty smoothly and we didn’t wait and in ordinate amount of time for anything.
She had skate and I had beef Bourguignon and they were both perfect. The place itself gives off the same vibe as many of the small restaurants have in Paris.
We both agree that we have found our new favorite place. Can’t wait to come back
Maitre d' was rather rude and insulting. Food was mediocre at best. Service was actually very good though.
From the moment I walked in the door to the moment Chad wished me a good night, the experience was warm and inviting, as if I was going over to someone’s home for dinner. They managed this even on a busy Friday night.
The food is outstanding. Well executed French classics. I expect nothing less from Chef Dominique. I cane for the Cassoulet but was talked into the Boeuf Bourgogne and was not disappointed.
I will be coming back, as often as possible.
Came here for restaurant week and been wanting Wellington Steak. Perfectly cooked.
Brunch was great. Started with with the lobster bisque, good. The eggs Benedict's was spot on. Beef Wellington was good. Sevice was great even though they were very busy.
What a great place and value for brunch. The only disappointment was the crème brûlée and gateau Breton in the dessert sampler. On the platter they had two teaspoons of what look like it was the crème brûlée, very strange presentation. It should have been in a small ramekin not on some teaspoons!!Hopefully we didn’t eat somebody’s leftover! Also the gateau Breton was very small, like one bite!
Love the french feeling of the space. Had a great french wine and wonderful food.
Food quality was outstanding and good value for money, especially the prix fixe menu for restaurant Week. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Great for pre-theater or post-theater for matinees. Have been there several times and would go back.
Great neighborhood place with good food. Atmosphere is inviting, good wine list, and the service was prompt and kind.
Everything our group ordered was fantastic. Our server was friendly and informative and never intrusive. A perfect place for a fun evening with friends.
We were a part of 10 adults who were there Friday Feb 8. 3 of us ordered the restaurant week fixed price menu and the other 7 ordered first and second courses from the ala carte menu, cocktails and wines. The cocktails and appetizers arrived in a timely manor and were good. However our main courses arrived one hour after apps were cleared and 1 hour and 45 minutes after we sat down and half were barely warm. We figured it was a kitchen error since 2 tables of 6 who arrived after us , had their dinners finished before we had our mains. Ok, every restaurant had glitches but it is how they deal with them that shows their class. On leaving I asked to speak with the manager. Told him it was inexcusable it was 1 and a half hours after we sat down to get our mains and I felt the kitchen had lost our order. He belligerently denied The order was lost and said it was just a misplaced paper with the order for the mains ( what????) and what did we expect, a party of 10 on a Friday during restaurant week. He said we should have ordered the price fixed menu. No one told us that and gave us ala carte menus. I told him no problem since there were a million restaurants in Chicago snd we didn’t need this one. He snarkily corrected me that there were 3500 restaurants in Chicago. The conversation ended with me calling him a disgrace and him calling me one. A good restaurant had glitches and all we wanted was an acknowledgment and apology, what we got was an aggressive and arrogant put down . No problem since there are 3500 other restaurants in Chicago,
always consistently good food and
wonderful value for restaurant week.
dinner was great; lobster bisque soup,
fish stew, gateau ba... cake with
salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. yummy!!!!
service is excellent and ambience
cozy. would highly recommend.
We went during restaurant week and had a great meal. the room is fine although nothing spectacular. But the regular menu had so many great French dishes. And our prix fixe meal was delicious, especially the beef wellington which is not on the regular menu. The creme caramel was also the perfect consistency and flavor. We can't wait to go back and try other dishes on the menu. The escargot en crout looked especially good.
Many visits always happy. Food is very good.
We usually split a desert but in Chez Moi each
of us gets his own, so good.
Take advantage of Restaurant Week as Chef Dominique is serving traditional beef Wellington. It is outstanding, and this is possibly the best French restaurant in the city. Independently owned. Support your local businesses. Note to Chef: please offer beef Wellington as a take home holiday meal/prep with all the trimmings for next Christmas!
Great food and g refer eat service. What more can one ask for? It’s always a delight to eat at Chez Moi
We decided to try Chez Moi during restaurant week. Each course was outstanding. My husband had the lobster bisque and I had the beet salad as a first course. Very good. Next, we both chose the Beef Wellington as our main course and it was wonderful. The foie gras pate and mushroom duxelle surrounding the beef tenderloin was so delicious. For dessert I had the creme brulee which was served warm instead of cold like most places. It tasted as though it had just been prepared, and so delicious. I love that they serve it warm. My husband had the Gateau Breton which was to die for. I had never heard of this dessert, but now I can't stop thinking about it. It was absolutely incredible. Upon perusing the menu, I could see a host of other dishes I would love to try. I can't wait for a return visit.
I was not impressed with the time it took to receive service initially. It took a while to get a drink to the table (other than water). Towards the end of my meal, a large group of noisy individuals sat next to my table. There wasn’t any type of a buffer!
Cozy, friendly, service is good, the food was fantastic.
My only complaint is that the restaurant is crowded, the tables are very close together and that guy at the next table was very close to me.
Great restaurant week menu! Would go again and recommend to a friend for a nice night out.
Restaurant week menu was superb. Lobster bisque was great. Fish stew had a great broth and accompanying sauce was just the right spice level. Creme brûlée for dessert was perfect.
Restaurant Week Dinner the food was unbelievable the flavors perfect to the palate. Some think of French food to be rich not here the flavors are married perfectly We will be back
CRW 2020 —awesome deal!
Excellent food and great value, a great neighborhood restaurant
Went on restaurant week. The prix fixe menu was as outstanding as the usual fare. Chef Dominique tireless effort never misses the mark.
Service was great, food was delicious, decent cost for restaurant week menu.
I was with my daughter and decided to try the restaurant week menu. We were early for our reservation and they seated us immediately. My choices were lobster bisque, beef Wellington and creme brûlée. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. I would definitely go back.
Outstanding neighborhood asset. Great food, super service, good wine list, attractive room--what more do you want?
Great place. Food is very tasty. There are few details here and there in the dishes that could use some work.
We have been to Chez Moi many times over the years and consider it one of the best restaurants in Chicago. The food is just excellent and a great value as well. Chez Moi is our "go to" place if we want an outstanding dining experience.
We had a magical dinner Saturday evening. Terrific stuffed pork tenderloin and boeuf bourginon, and outstanding service from Cosme. Thanks to the entire friendly staff at Chez Moi.
Outstanding all around. Courteous, prompt, attentive service during busy “Restaurant Week”. We had the two specials and each course was delicious.
Neighborhood gem. Food is delicious, nice wine selection, reasonably priced. Excellent service. Stylish dining room.
