I feel lucky to have this in the neighborhood. This restaurant would pass in Paris - no question.
If you haven’t had it already, enjoy finding your next weekly spot.
The restaurant was very good, but not as good as the last time we were there. For example, the goat cheese in the salad was not soft/cushy but was hard and didn't have much taste.
Excellent food and wine selection, waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. Had a Parisian bistro feel, which we enjoy.
Everything was perfect
Authentic French food in a charming, casual atmosphere.
we've always loved chez moi. it was our anniversary; we used to frequent the prior restaurant, cafe bernard. overall, the food was very good - excellent escargot, foie gras were superb. great bread. mussels were pretty good, but some were rather fishy. lamb shank was okay, but lacked jus. our server did bring us some when we requested it.
i was surprised when we asked for a pepper mill, the server brought us the ony pepper they had, which was in tiny paper packets. same for the salt. must have been a pandemic result.
overall, very nice evening. nice wines by the glass.
Outstanding French cuisine that maintains many traditional French dishes that most other French restaurants don’t offer, like onion tart, cassoulet, coquilles St Jacques, duck a l’orange, several fish choices including skate wing, lentil salad, and even 4 vegetarian dishes. All good, with good service and for a very reasonable prices. Good wine list, casual comfortable ambiance inside also with some outside seating on the quiet side street. My favorite French restaurant in Chicago.
Good as always was excellent which was augmented by great service by Remi
Food is excellent as is the service and atmosphere. Great selection of choices for every course. A real winner.
My friend and I went for brunch and dined on the patio. We arrived early for our 11AM reservation and the restaurant was locked up until 11AM. We chose to sit on the patio. Nice ambiance it was good weather so it was fine that there were no umbrellas. Lots of street parking in the surrounding area. We didn’t get our servers name but he was polite and recommended the escargot ( I was a huge fan) it was the perfect amounts of buttery & garlicky with a nice puff pastry baked on top. She had the quiche and I had the crepes for main course, those were good but I would try more savory items next time I visit as they own a bakery.
Will be back, thanks for the hospitality.
We had been wanting to visit Chez Moi for a while, and were not disappointed. Nice cocktails, particularly my Sazerac. My SO started with the escargot, while I began with the onion tart. Both were very good. For entrees, my SO had the bronzini special, which was good, but maybe could have used a sauce. I had the cassoulet, which was hearty and delicious. Service was very good, with a nice wine recommendation with our mains. Would easily recommend Chez Moi.
Short ribs and foie gras were excellent, and skate wing was the best I’ve had here. It’s a different preparation than was at the departed Bistrot Zinc, but just as good.
Great french inspired menue and wine list. My wife always orders one of their desserts.
Always delicious - I’d go for the appetizers alone!
We went on Bastille Day. Food was excellent. Service very polite with good recommendations. My only critique is that the service seemed rushed. Our main course came when we were still finishing our first course. Noise level moderate even though the restaurant was full; we'll definitely come again and just ask for a more leisurely pace between courses.
Always great. Lovely room, location, and great food.
We love Chez Moi for the outstanding cuisine and the excellent service.
The food was amazing as always.
The waiter was knowledgeable and very attentive to our every need.
I dine here at least twice a year and I’m never disappointed
The French food was fantastic and quite diverse. From frog legs, to escargot, to mussels, to fois gras for appetizers to several steaks/beef wellington, to 2 types of duck, to a lamb shank, to several types of fish and seafood, it was really good. Will be back soon.
We were celebrating my daughter's birthday. She had just returned from two years living in France near Lyon and she was thrilled to see the food she had come to know and love on the menu. Her pork loin stuffed with goat cheese disappeared, as did the scallops and salmon others ordered. She introduced her grandmother and my husband to escargot. I was pleasantly surprised to see vegetarian options on the menu (important for me and many of my friends). Excellent peach and raspberry sorbet helped bring dinner to a close. Have already recommended this place to other friends planning to visit Chicago soon and will go back again when we are next in the city.
Very enjoyable dinner. Staff very friendly and professional. All four entrees at our table thoroughly enjoyed, especially the beef bourguignon, and the escargot was delicious. Also appreciated that it was fairly quiet, which meant we didn’t have to yell to be heard.
What a Lincoln Park gem. We sat outside -- the only noise was the motorcycles revving on Halsted (really guys????). We all had the goat cheese salad and loved it. Entrees included gumbo, trout, salmon and lamb shank--all winners. AND OH WOW--the bread pudding!!!! YUM!.
Service was great---needed a couple of reminders every now and then (coffee spoon for example) but it was Theo's first night--he was charming and patient with us so we were with him.
Excellent as always. I had Beef Wellington, my wife had duck, and our friend had skate.
All fantastic! Our server, Yuliya, was exceptional. Highly recommended.
We thought the service was excellent and everyone loved their dinner.
We had a fabulous meal and a relaxed, lovely time with our friends. Our Server was especially thoughtful, and yet without “hovering”. The food was on a par with fine dining we have experienced in Paris.
Friends, who had never been there, and we, who had been there a few times pre-COVID, all agreed that this was one of the best meals we had ever had. Not inexpensive, but very reasonable as comparred to other higher price restaurants with comperable food.
Our special favorite is the artichoke app which is not always on the menu. It is amazingly scruptious. The Coq Au Vin was a bit dry but the Beef Wellington was over the top delicious!
Wait staff is always professional and personable - Last night, Troy was our guy!
We really like Chez Moi but have concerns about the inconsistency in the food preparation. Two of us had the Skate and Shrimp/Salmon special. Both were outstanding. Another person had the escargot which lacked enough garlic and the duck which was just OK. The pork tenderloin was awful - tough, meat hard as a rock and lacking flavor. The restaurant is so nice and Chad and Remy do a great job, but the chef was totally off his game. We write this review in hopes that these problems are addressed.
We do love the bread and the apple tart was amazing, especially the caramel. Yummy!
One of our favorite restaurants that never disappoints.
Excellent food and friendly service.
We will be back!
Amazing! Delicious! Perfection !
Wonderful as always, with excellent service!
great food and service
Remi Was a good and attentive waiter, and the whole experience was very nice.
Food, service and ambience were perfect. It was a quiet atmosphere which is a welcome element.
The main course and dessert were excellent, though the appetizers (and the available selection thereof) could have been a little better. Despite that, though, the service was impeccable, the cocktails were tasty and the ambiance was delightful. Nice job overall.
The best creme brûlée ever, the amount of food is very substantial and delicious, the French onion soup is awesome
Dined at Chez moi yesterday. Food was authentic and delicious.
Well, the company had a lot to do with it but I have to say it was a magical. We ordered a bottle of wine and started at the bar with some escargot….yummy. Moved to a table and finished the bottle along with our wonderful entrees… duck alaorange & lamb shank. To make the meal perfect we shared some delicious chocolate mouse. The service was terrific. Our waitress was attentive and so pleasant it made a great meal even better! Can’t wait to go back!
Exceptional French delights. We had scallops, beef bourguignon (best ever), and outstanding salmon. The portions were generous and so very delicious.
We've both had the opportunity to travel throughout the US and the world, including many trips to France. We've dined in Paris, Nice, Rouen, La Havre and many other cities in France. When we cannot travel to France, we choose to eat at Chez Moi.
We look forward to driving from MI to Chicago to dine with the owner/chef who always makes you feel comfortable and appreciated. The food is "formidable": from the starters, through the entrée and, of course dessert. The service is impeccable.
Please consider making Chez Moi one of your Chicago-land traditions.
