I thought the French onion soup was delicious and just what I wanted on a cold evening. The mussels really had no taste --they were not bad just not as special as I had hoped.
The food was awful! My steak I ordered was medium rare and came raw, the frites were not frites but American French fries. Just not a good experience
Chez Moi serves authentically French food in a pleasant, well-decorated room. The service is attentive without being intrusive. Good French wine selection. Tres bon!
Such great service. Love coming to this place!
First visit for me, Sam was our waiter, attentive and knowledgeable....and CUTE, too. Bread was to die for!! Beef wellington was exceptional.
Late lunch brunch on a Saturday for 2. Manager and waiters were very welcoming. Our meal was great soup du hour a fabulous cream of cauliflower that was very favorable, and of course, French onion soup, good as well.
We also loved the quiche Lorraine and salmon. We will be back!
Outstanding service, very welcoming! Lovely decor and truly fabulous food! Best skate I’ve ever had...yummy veggies, authentic French cuisine. Great wine list.
Start to finish...the perfect date night! We can’t wait to return!
From the warm welcome when you enter, to the excellent service of the waitstaff, it was an excellent experience. The menu offers something for everyone. Great choices, lovely presentation and absolutely delicious.
A neighborhood gem.
Small, intimate with wonderful French cuisine. Great for a romantic date or other events.
Food was excellent and the service good. Very welcoming staff. However the noise level made having a conversation quite a challenge.
The skate wing was delicious! I enjoyed the fact that the restaurant is divided into two more intimate rooms rather than one large room. Both are warm and welcoming.
Theee of us went for dinner. My two fellow diners are both vegetarian. Super tasty vegetarian entrees. Creative cocktails. Best dessert I've had in ages. (Breton cake-warm shortbread with caramel sauce & fromage ice cream). Pork tenderloin cooked perfectly. Delicious roasted vegetable side. Perfect service. Can't wait to go back.
I've visited Chez Moi several times, both for quick drinks on the patio and hours-long dinners inside. It's ideal for a relaxed get-together over a glass of wine, and even more well suited for a meal celebrating a special occasion.
The food is always prepared flawlessly, and you can count on finding the right bottle of wine to accompany it. If you ever find yourself overwhelmed by the menu, the staff is more than qualified to guide you to something you'll love.
While you may amass a substantial bill by the end of the night—especially if you approach meals the way I do—I've never doubted that the prices are perfectly fair considering the exceptionally high quality of food and expert service.
The atmosphere was pleasant for conversation—the food was a bit bland.
I wasn’t thrilled with my entre, but my dessert was great
Sorry, I keep giving Chez Moi a chance but have been too disappointed. I want to like it here, but this time I actually sent my crab cake back because it was mushy and fishy and someone else thought so as well. French fries with a burger? Why not pommes frites? Not a very good French selection for lunch. Sorry.
Went for lunch with a big group. Everyone enjoyed their food.
Muy muy buenos postres!!! La comida excelente!! Pero es mucha comida. Un desperdicio servir tanto. Con la mitad de todo, me hubiera sentido feliz.
We have had Thanksgiving dinner here for the last four years. Last year, one of our group had the turkey dinner, another had the salmon and the third person had the cassoulet. The salmon was excellent and the best of these. The cassoulet was overpowered by the smoky flavor of the sausage. The turkey dinner was good. This year two of us had the turkey and both said it was OK. The salmon with the butternut squash risotto was wonderful. The two salads that we tried were very good. One was the pear salad and the other the house salad. The desserts were delicious. The restaurant was VERY noisy! The restaurant in past years has been extremely crowded. This year it was noticeably less crowded.
Lovely Thanksgiving dinner - regular menu and Thanksgiving dishes. Great service. Merci!
We had an absolutely lovely time at Chez Moi. I hesitate to try new restaurants on holidays, but we decided to go to Chez Moi after seeing a review on Check Please! Chez Moi had a traditional Thanksgiving menu with turkey and stuffing, etc., but we opted to go for French food and were very pleased that we did. I had the French onion soup and cassoulet. They were both very flavorful and perfectly cooked. My hubby had duck for his entree. We couldn't pass up dessert, so I had the apple tart and he had the pumpkin cheesecake, which was really amazing.
The service was was attentive without being overbearing.
We will definitely return to Chez Moi.
We must come back and try everything on the menu! This place was a real touch of Paris. Cozy, lively, great service, and absolutely wonderful food. Every dish was perfect. Really the best French bistro I’ve been to in Chicago.
Great experience and recommend it to all brunch goers!
Traditional French food with a contemporary twist. Ample portions. Exquisite country bread. Charcuterie appetizer easily shared among a group; same with mussels. Fun cocktails. Delicious Cassoulet. Scrumptious Gateau Breton. Great service and attentive chef. Highly recommended.
I love this place, but his time I was disappointed in their take on Boeuf Bourguignon. I’m used to a more stew-like presentation. It should be a stew braised in red wine. It was a solid, large short rib surrounded by veggies and mashed potatoes. It delicious but not quite what I was hoping for. Two other people in my party felt same way in terms of expectations.
Otherwise, we had a fun night! Staff was super nice. I’ll just order something else next time. Everything is always delicious.
Chez Moi has good bistro food. Some of the dishes are better than others--specials are often good choices. It's a nice neighborhood restaurant with a good wine list and a small, but well-crafted menu.
Great food, terrific service. I would recommend this restaurant to friends.
Great place for girl's night! Service and food were both phenomenal.
Everything was great!
The worst meal we've had in Chicago ever! The escargot were the size of a pea, the sauce had no taste (definitely not enough garlic) and the croute on top was unnecessary. The lamb shank was just OK but the coucous and vegetable underneath tasted like they had been sitting in a pot for days. The boeuf bourgignon looked like no other boeuf bourgignon I have ever seen. But the absolute worst was the coq au vin. Disgusting brown dishwater sauce instead of rich wine infused sauce with soggy pasta in the bottom of the pot. We should have sent it back but given the fact that we had to wait 30 minutes between first course and main course we just didn't have the time. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
Love this cozy traditional French bistro. Deeply appreciate that they offer all the classics and don't bother "innovating." Perfect for when you want a warm atmosphere, good lighting, attentive waitstaff, and a brothy pot of moules or solid cassoulet served without unnecessary flourishes. One of my go-to's for cold Chicago nights!
So delicious and quaint. Highly recommend.
Great food and excellent service. A very enjoyable dinner. I definitely would recommend this restaurant and will go back.
Food was good. Cute little place. Had some brutal glasses of wine, didn’t drink much of it. Server was sweet and took it off the bill. Food was very tasty.
We had a lovely experience and will be back!
Family and college kids friends were suddenly available! I made reservations for 11 people @ 10:30am brunch at Chez Moi where we usually frequent for a cozy, local date night. All the dishes were fresh, perfectly prepared, and delicious. The service was excellent. The ambiance encouraged visiting and creating relationships. Hardest part was parking in the rain, but that was quickly forgotten once inside. Great way to start the day. Recommend unconditionally.
This was our first and last visit to Chez Moi. The main criticism is the unprofessional, inattentive and indifferent waitstaff from the servers to the busboys. Our main course which took over an hour to come out and was dried, tough and almost inedible, not due to the chef but probably because the waiter who was clearly overwhelmed left it under a warming lamp too long. Simple things like bread being brought and water refilled were not done. Lovely setting but the personnel need serious improvement.
The standard bistro menu was well executed and the pricing very fair. Our waiter was knowledgeable and polite but the wait for our meal was very long. We arrived for a 5:30 seating, ordered by 6 pm but was not served dinner until 7 pm. It felt as though the kitchen was having a difficult time keeping up. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in the neighborhood, with the caveat that the service may be very slow.
Friendly. Great for dinner. The skatewing is the best fish dinner in Chicago. We go several times a month.
It was our “go to” bistro in Lincoln Park......however now the wine pour was limited and the prices have exceeded our budget. Too bad.
