Available for lunch or dinner
The Side Room is a private area where the cuisine and ambiance reflect the seasons- you may request a special menu or a more traditional party menu. Each evening is individually shaped and has a unique menu representing the ingredients the farmers make available to us that day.
We use only the finest ingredients with a strong emphasis on locally produced, seasonal, and organic foods. This insistence on freshness is not usually found outside of the finest restaurants. Chez Mélange prepares all their foods from scratch.

Great fish. Creative menu. Welcoming owner and staff.
Nice patio out front and the service is very friendly. I was able to have my dog with me as well.
Our anniversary, food service and atmosphere was everything we wanted
The Sea Change concept using sustainability sourced fish and seafood is spectacular. You can still order the steak and a side of truffle fries if you are into meats only, but the magic Michael Franks infuses into those fish and seafood dishes is life-changing. The raw bar is special as well, with a great assortment of shellfish- and oh, those creamy oysters for on the Pacific Northwest!
Great night well taken care of by Gary.
Thanks for everything as always!!
Great for seafood. Had oysters and hamachi sashimi. So tasty. Then baramundi. All wonderful.
Had dinner at Sea Change with friends. Ordered appetizers, ie, the rock shrimp & the seafood platter; for main course I had the monk fish, my husband had the seafood stew, and our friend ordered cod with linguini. Everything was delicious and we were all happy with the food, drinks & promised to save room for the dessert next time.
This french style/influence restaurant/menu is never a disappointment. Be sure to start with the french champagne which is an excellent Brut for those who enjoy some very good bubbly. And don't skimp, get the entire bottle. The oysters are very fresh and satisfying as hoped and expected - leaving us wanting more but happy to wait for the remainder of the order. If you enjoy Fois Gras, the seared appetizer will be something to remember. As for the salad's, dinners or desserts, it's hard to imagine how any could leave you less than smiling and happy. So many amazing flavors to experience.
Lovely ambience with a very attentive staff. The food was very rich (a little heavy on the cream and butter) but delicious. We were a little disappointed that both of our choices , the duck and veal chop, were "out" (at 8pm) but our second choices were very good.
Ahi was over cooked. Should be nearly raw. Better if prepared with a peppercorn crust. I have had many superior meals at Chez Melange. This was not one of them.
We came for Fathers Day brunch, and were disappointed. This used to be a wonderful higher end restaurant, but seems to now focus only on bar scene. (Hadn't been here in years and was just hoping it had gone back to the original great food.) Except for the lovely binets, our meals were pricey but not very good.
Great music, but way too loud for a pleasant brunch in a small space.
Probably will not return for a meal.
Had been there many years ago when it was quaint place! Now a madhouse!
Liked the food and the service. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. The vegetable sandwich was delicious especially the homemade chips. We will definetly be back
Greeted by the owner who wished us a happy anniversary. We had a quiet table as requested. Server was prompt and attentive. Food was marvelous! I had the pan seared scallops-best I have ever had. I wished there had been more than 3. My husband had a salmon dish that he thought was superb. The Chocolate pots au creme was decadent.
Always excellent service and great quality, gourmet specialties. We enjoy and eat here regularly! Great place for a quiet dinner in the back area or a more lively, fun dining experience in the front.
We are so happy to have the marinara with bread and the fried chicken salad back on the menu! We were regulars for all special occasions when Chez was at the Plush Horse Inn (yep we are old), but had only been to the new location a couple of times prior to the remodel. The new digs are more inviting and quieter and the food is stellar as always. The fried chicken salad was delicious. I had the Sunday special prime rib - a value but wished I had chosen fish after eating a little too much! Wonderful meal.
Good. Except our waitress forgot to bring our salads. Ate our main course before the salads.
Love Chez and new Sea Change is a nice variation. Find having to pay for bread and butter is a bit strange given the old location gave you a basket of assorted breads n crackers with both butter and a marina dipping sauce at no charge. Don’t see bread as a “starter.” Our server was good but kept pushing a particular dessert when the one provided for the birthday would certainly have been sufficient. Both desserts were yummy I must say (a chocolate pecan pie and key lime torte ).
We've been fans of Michael Franks restaurants for over 40 years and have never had a disappointing meal. The switch from Chez Melange to Sea Change was unexpected but not all that surprising, given Robert Bell's creativity. We've now dined at Sea Change three times and each entree has displayed a unique fusion of culinary styles. This time the grilled Opah and Chinese green beans were perfectly cooked and the Korean crunchy garlic sauce was a unique, but perfect, complement to both. My wife's grilled swordfish with fresh basil pesto sauce was perfectly cooked and wonderfully tasty, too. Even the French onion soup displayed an interesting twist, an abundance of julienned caramelized onions added a sweet, slightly spice undertone to the broth. It was another exceptional meal from the Franks and Bell duo.
This is our favorite restaurant in The South Bay! We went in our wedding anniversary. It was tops as usual.
Meet the new Che Melange!
We had a great waiter and terrific food at the new Sea Change/Che Melange restaurant. For those of you worried that the restaurant has made a total change, many of the same entrees
are on the new menu. This is a great little local gem.
My husband and I enjoy celebrating our birthdays and anniversaries at Chez Melange on a regular basis. We are never disappointed. The food and cocktails are always excellent and this evening was no exception. We highly recommend it.
Wife requested that I take her here for Mothers Day because of the recasting of the main dining room as the Sea Change. Food was great as is often the case with Robert Bell restaurants and the price was reasonable (for food and wine). We will probably eat here more often.
Overall the seafood was very tasty., however it appears that they have reduced the size of their portions.
So glad they are now open for lunch , will Back soon
My husband and I had not been to Chez Melange for several years, just due to distance. We went back for our anniversary and we loved it! The new Seafood menu was outstanding! We had a hard time deciding what to order because of all the options. We started wth the Calamari, then split the Southern Fried Chicken Salad and ended with a mixed seafood dish, similar to Cioppino that had the absolute best flavored, light sauce that I have ever had! We sat in the seafood dining area but the Oyster bar next to us had a great buzz of people in there having a good time but it didn't disturb the peacefulness in the main dining room. We also thought the bar in the front of the restaurant had a nice ambiance although we didn't have time to stop for a drink. We will definitely go back more often and have told several of our foodie friends about how good it was.
Best "nice" restaurant in Redondo Beach. We were there on a married couple's date night. Each time we eat at Michael Franks' we are never disappointed. We were given very professional wait service by "Gerry" from France. He was very knowledgeable of the details of the menu. He made our meal a very fun adventure. Can't wait to go back.
My husband and I always enjoy our meals here; we especially enjoy celebrating special occasions here. The food and cocktails are always fabulous, as well as the service.
Love this place! Great food and great service.
A true gem in the South Bay! We came here for dinner last night and everything was absolutely exceptional!
The front of the restaurant is a bar / gastropub with a cozy atmosphere with great beer, wine and cocktail selection, outdoor seating with a fire pit (and dog friendly!)
Through the back you have the Oyster bar and the restaurant area. The service was fabulous - our waiter was very knowledgable and attentive, had great suggestions and knowledge about the menu. The seafood is always super fresh and all of the vegetables are locally sourced at the farmer's market. The menu has so many options in a wide range of prices. The owner came over to chat with us twice - a very sweet man you can tell he really loves his restaurant and the people love working there!
After cocktails (the list is extensive and all sounded so great) We started with the Hamachi Sashimi appetizer which was served with avocado and grapefruit - perfectly prepared! I got the Halibut served with English Peas and Fava Beans and mint basil pesto. The fish was cooked exactly right and a very good portion - much larger than what you would get at other (overpriced) upscale seafood restaurants. The flavors were so good!
My boyfriend got the Zarzuela - a take on a traditional spanish seafood stew. Basically a large bowl of delicious seafood with a tomato seasoned broth (which was more like a sauce and absolutely delicious!) It came with a tasty french baguette to dip in the sauce and we ate every last bite.
For dessert we got the Key Lime Tart and they also brought us out a chocolate type mouse (which had a thicker texture and whipped cream) as an extra treat. They have a special pastry chef who makes all of their desserts so you aren't getting something that has been frozen. Oh my gosh the flavors! So so yummy.
We will definitely be back and recommend this place to everyone in the area!
Sea Change at Chez Melange. Lovely room, good service, good food.,good wine. Locally sourced food. Menu changes daily. Easy to talk. Great for the neighborhood.
Dining at Chez Melange is always an enjoyable experience.
Open table wa misleading it had open slot for lunch at 12:39, but when we got there, the restruant is closed and we were told it only opens for dinner.
I booked for my friends birthday celebration. So it was very disappointing!!!
Good food as always. The sea bass was amazing. Enjoyed a drink in the bar first. So glad they have a knowledgeable somalier. Service was first rate too.
hard to find places like this anymore that are accessible... the wait staff was on the spot, great vibe with high end cuisine and hand crafted cocktails... can't wait to go back!
Food was very well-prepared. Service was excellent. Space is a bit strange - seems like an after thought with the bar being the main attraction. Will definitely return.
Great food, service and ambiance!! Our out of town guests were very impressed.
This restaurant is an excellent combination of outstanding food, excellent service and reasonable prices. It is a true neighborhood gem. I have been to few restaurants where the staff is more engaged throughout your visit. We were greeted warmly coming through the door and were consistently thanked or otherwise shown appreciation throughout the evening. The staff is very knowledgeable about the items on their menu and more than willing to assist with recommendations on both food and wine. The menu features a broad diversity of options, all done well and the raw bar offerings could not be more fresh. I am not one that typically writes reviews based on a single dining experience, but I have now been to this restaurant 4 times over a period of 6 months and it has consistently delivered an excellent dining experience. I highly recommend that you give it a try - you will not be disappointed.
Disappointed because the reviews gave me high hopes. Service was awful. I asked the waitress if someone called in sick; they did not. Food was good but not great. Ambience was lacking.
This is a wonderful restaurant and certainly one of the best in the South Bay. I love their new seafood menu format and would also note that they have other options for those who want something else. Very friendly, welcoming staff and casual yet smartly sophisticated setting.
