Took friends for lunch, our first visit, table was first class, the service was spot on, attentive but not overbearing. The ambiance and decor was in keeping and could not fault the meal.
Top marks for standard of service, will visit again soon.
Lovely evening with friends. Good food, good friendly service and able to have conversation. No loud music. Great.
Poor onion soup, chewy crispy duck smothered in hosin sauce, prawn/monk fish thermadore pre cooked and monk fish chewy, lacking in flavour, veal smothered in salty sauce, even the vegetables were dry and looked like recycled lunch portions.
Barely pub food standard.
Will not be going back.
Didn't complain, we were never asked 'how was your food'...... says it all!!!
Work lunch for 4. Really impressed with what they've done with the place. Food was delicious service was good. Only negative on where we were sat and the heavy bench seats that made it a bit tricky for everyone to be comfy but that was perhaps a quirk of where we were and only tables certainly were not all the same. Would go again
We had tried several times to get a table at this restaurant & now know why, it was well worth the wait. The service was impeccable, the food fabulous in fact apart from maybe being slightly high end price wise we could not fault it.
This is the third time we’ve eaten here in less than a month. It’s a bit of a trek from home but we’ll worth the effort.
Was a shame that we the only choice was a Sunday lunch for tje Sunday we went in. We were only looking for a light bite as it was too warm to be eating such heavy meal like a full Sunday lunch. Food was beautiful for what we had but it was just too much so neither myself or my husband enjoyed it.
Fantastic food, great venue. It was great to see old favourites on the menu again, will definitely be going back
On the best Sunday lunch in harrogate! Will definately be back
The food was fantastic, we had Sunday Lunch. I had the beef and I was asked how I prefer mine cooked, I like this as an option as I like mine rare and not many places offer this. I only scored the value down a mark as the price of the coke cola was a bit pricey which was £3.80 for a pint, but other than that it was great value.
The starters were a little expensive but very nice, ranging from £7 - £13.
Mains were well prepared and vfm in my opinion, had the steak pie-excellent
Overall, wine a bit too expensive for me but the whole experience was decent
Amazing food, the French onion soup is to die for! Slightly on the pricey side for a la carte, but the set menu is excellent value! We we’re also checking out the lunch menu which looks impressive and is certainly on the horizon to try for us!
The staff were very friendly and service was quick, possibly too quick as we were onto our main meal within 30 minutes of arriving.
Live music created a fantastic ambiance. This restaurant was a favourite of ours in the past and we are over the moon that they have re opened!
Lovely food in a lovely surrounding.
Nice clean table cloths and linen.
Friendly and attentive staff.
Very much worth a visit.
Surprised how good it was.The service was brilliant with friendly and efficient staff the food came very quickly and each course was delicious. Will definitely go again when in the area.
Loved the new Chez la Vie, the food was great as usual. Good to see the fixed price menu available.
Although we were regular visits to Station Parade, we often found that it felt a bit cramped and very noisy. The new restaurant interior and seating areas are so much better. Well done 🙂👍
Really enjoyed Sunday Lunch. Good food - will definitely return
Easy parking . Lovely ambiance . Spacious comfortable seating and not on top of other diners .
Excellent food with many options . Large portions we sometimes opt for 2 starters in order to leave space for the delicious deserts . Good efficient service without being intrusive .
Our 4th visit with both friends and family . We and they will be back .
Friendly staff and well priced, we went on a Thursday evening and by 9pm it was pretty much dead, would book table for 7pm so it doesn't feel like you have the place to yourself.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch ...staff were great. Very enjoyable.
Lovely friendly atmosphere with very welcoming and efficient staff members who made us feel very comfortable throughout. The menu was comprehensive without being too lengthy with choices for all dietary preferences and the quality was superb throughout all 3 course of the 'Set Menu'.
We had a really lovely evening and were well looked after. I believe we received excellent value for money in isolation, moreover, in comparison to other meals at alternative restaurants Chez La Vie excelled. Will we be returning.......absolutely.
Food was very expensive. We dine at many lovely places this was poor in comparison. Example the pork belly was so overdone unable to eat. Did mention this to the waitress said she would tell manager. Did not have any feedback. Did not get what was listed on menu to accompany the meals. Which were not sufficient and we have small appetites.
Not been before so called for Sunday lunch (lamb) massive portions and definitely up there one of the best I’ve had. Also the french onion soup was delicious.
My mums 93rd birthday lunch .
Everything was fantastic . She got a surprise journey to the restaurant in a lovely Bentley limo .She was really smiling when she arrived .
The table was in a nice spot with a view . A long stem white rose on the table and a bottle of
Bubbly were nice touches .
All the food ordered was superb and service was excellent .
Thank you very much Tony and friends at Chez La Vie 👍 From Mum and myself .
See you again soon
Just as I remember food lovely staff friendly restaurant clean
Yorkshire puddings extremely well done, duck overcooked not pink no choice of potatoes not everyone likes roast very disappointed as thought this restaurant was highly rated previously
Poor vegetarian/vegan choices even though I have prior notice that 2 vegans would be eating. Seating too high for the table height or table too low for the seating. Roast potatoes tasted of antisceptic. Service was good.
A very enjoyable evening with friends at Chez La Vie. We were looked after very well and the food was excellent.
Lovely restaurant in a fabulous setting. Staff all great, polite with a sense of humour. Food was as expected/ hope for having been a regular at the old Chez ale Vie in central Harrogate.
We as a couple have been a few times before and always love it , hence the reason we recommended going there with friends the other night. Our friends, who had never been before, were very impressed and will definitely go back. In fact we’re planning our next visit for the beginning of July. Definitely the best local restaurant to go to.
The nice thing is that whatever time, day of the week you go.... the service, quality of food, choice of meals and ambience is consistent... always a positive experience.
Keep it up Chez La Vie ... well done in continuing your successful business... after all these years of being in the town centre... moving to and refurbishing the original Nelson... was definitely a great move.
What a strange week for us. We ended up eating at Chez La Vie twice
We had friends who have a gastro pub come over to see us on Tuesday and they always like to see the local offering so we went to Chez La Vie great food as usual and OK service but sadly the potatoes we cold. Swiftly rectified but did cause a bit of a down to the start of the meal.
Wednesday evening, we had my partners father and uncle over who also asked for pub food.... Well what could we do but pop up to Chaz La Vie again! This time the food was faultless as usual and we all finished off with my favourite Ice Cream and chocolate sauce. I now have 3 more converts to this scrumptious way to finish a meal.
Thank you all at Chez La Vie we will be back but perhaps not tonight :)
Perfectly cooked Sunday Lunch, Good value wine and brilliant service. The place itself is fabulous and has a lovely ambience. 5 stars
We were well looked after but one of our orders did not arrive (was deducted from the bill) and the steak was not cooked as ordered - for medium rare we received medium to medium well.
Really nice food, quite a bit of choice too, friendly staff, good customer service. Only thing was that there was no meal check once we had received our food nobody came to ask if everything was ok, however was busy and the food was delicious
This was and is yet again my ultimate favourite restaurant. Fabulous place.
Sold out of Calves liver at lunchtime we were told, we dined in the evening. Braised beef very over cooked and dry. The sauces on the beef and also the pork fillet very thick as if they had been waiting a long time. The sauce on the smoked haddock florentine had far too much mustard in it, it overpowered the fish. The vegetables were very watery. Disappointing compared to when we went after it had just opened.
Excellent lunch and busy for a Wednesday Tables are set apart so noise levels low no matter how busy. Another good meal, my foodie guest from London was very impressed
Enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch with a friend. We were welcomed nicely. Had a drink at the bar before being shown to our table. Service & food were great. Will definitely return.
Had a lovely y meal on Tuesday with friends at Chez La Vue. Everything was very good will certainly be going again.
Unfortunately one of our party of 4 found her Tarragon sauce very salty and was unable to eat it,the dish was sent back, there was no more chicken so an alternative was chosen this being the duck, the duck underside was over cooked and blackened, which was a bit disappointing, but overall a reasonable eating experience.
This is our second visit and will not be our last!
We have eaten previously from the evening menu so felt it would be great to try Sunday lunch
We were not disappointed.. to say the standard of food, variety of choices and absolutely top notch service from friendly but professional staff would be an understatement
I believe this represents my experience and opinion! 😉
