Consistently excellent food and service. Never been disappointed!
When to theater and dinner night! Just perfect!
Best Choucroute ever. Best staff. Great atmosphere.
After play dinner
Always a good meal before the theater.
Service pleasant and music a plus.
Perfect pre-theatre restaurant. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. Loved the ambiance as well.
This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint. The food is delicious and portions are very good. This will be a place we will continue to return to whenever we have the chance to visit NYC theatre district.
Lovely experience. We were in NYC from West coast for plays and museums. Came here for dinner first nite. Our waiter was Ulysses. His service was outstanding. Jazz trio added to evening. Would come here again. 5 STAR EXPERIENCE
Chez Josephine is beautiful. The food was great, the ambiance was excellent. I loved the live music, especially when the pianist playedbhappy birthday for me. I will definitely be returning.
Great restaurant. met for Sunday Brunch, the Eggs Benedict were excellent....try the Bloody Marys....piano player and real plus...
Fantastic!! From the moment we arrived they were friendly and accommodating!!
Food was wonderful as was the ambiance!!
Always great food and service. The piano player is a superb added touch to a fine dining experience. We keep going back!!
Chez Josephine is one of the true gems of the theater district...and feels like a throw back to the good old days. The food is great, service lovely and QUICK especially for the theater crowd, yet they never rush you. It's such a joy to spend an evening there with a great cocktail, delicious meal and live music. The escargots are great, bolognese a classic, lobster/seafood cassoulet enormous and delicious!
Beautiful and romantic little gem off the beaten path near Times Square. Live piano music, the food was spectacular. I’m still thinking about my tiger shrimp with pesto risotto and Brussels sprouts. Cappuccino delicious. The only thing that fell from their high standard was dessert. They need to work on that portion. Find dessert elsewhere. You’ll feel like you’re in Paris in the 40’s. Worth it!
Always pleased with the service, quality and presentation of the food.
We have eaten at Chez Josephine many times. Normally, we are there pre theatre and the staff are very accommodating. The Food is always delicious. I have had duck, always prepared perfectly, the gnocchi on the price fixed menu a few days ago was very good and my husband’s monk fish was perfect. I would suggest that the endive salad have less endive and more beets and cheese however. That was disappointing. My dessert, mascarpone and berries was delicious! Looking forward to next time!
We arrived a half hour earlier than our reservation...no problem.. warmly greeted with immediate seating in the center of the room with a view of the whole restaurant and piano...Delightful menu choices as well as a lovely Winter Prix available. Homey and yet upscale atmosphere. Food and service were impeccable...as the room filled with patrons, I thought we would be rushed out to accommodate the crowd...but no! No one hurried us and we actually sat for 2 hours before we had to leave to see a show.
Chez Josephine has been one of my favorite dining spots ever since my first visit...It never disappoints.
Chez Josephine never disappoints. We were rushed with timing because we were going to an early show, so we didn’t have time to sit and enjoy the ambiance and all that CJ has to offer. Still, we were able to enjoy our wonderful entrees with the help of a server who made it happen. Love it there
better gluten free options would be appreciated, would be helpful if noted on
the menu as well instead of the server having to go back and forth and check with the chefs
We loved Chez Josephine, which was perfect before the show!
Sunday Brunch was delicious and reasonably priced.
Love this place; especially the Sunday brunch with the lovely piano music. The service was off - had to ask a few times for condiments; then the same with desert and coffee. The wait staff were constantly busy. And extra person on duty would have made all the usual high standards.
Always a delight. I have been going here for 30 years, and it never disappoints. Charming atmosphere with great live dinner music.
The food and the presentation was great! The piano player added positively to the atmosphere.
The service was good. The food was excellent as usual.
Pre-theater dinner. Food was great. Piano player was much too loud. So pleasant if only wasn’t so loud for the entire time we were there!
Dined here for a birthday celebration. The food was well-presented and delicious. The service was excellent and unobtrusive. They presented a special happy birthday dessert in a delightful way. Highly recommend!
As always, this fine restaurant delivers very good food and an ambiance that, if not quite Paris entre deux guerres, comes very close. The pianist/singer is superb, adding to the feeling of being in someplace special. Recommended from this visit: the octopus and beef tartare appetizers, the rich but unique seafood cassoulet. (Lots of lobster and shrimp), the red snapper, the steak.
Another excellent feature is that they serving late, a boon for theater goers, especially the nearby Theater Row, Playwrights’ Horizons and the theaters at The Signature complex.
Convenient to theater row, with good food and excellent piano music.
Really delightful in every way! The piano player was just superb. A totally wonderful evening. Loved it!
We had a marvellous dinner at Chez Josephine. It is a very lovely place with piano music and quiet enough to carry on a conversation. The filet mignon was delicious. The crab cakes my wife had we good, but not as good as true Baltimore lumb crab cakes. Service was more than adequate. We returned the next day for lunch we liked it so much.
A very special place! Beautiful décor and great food! Very intimate! I feel like I am in Paris when I am there!
Wonderful and delicious!! Charming atmosphere with pianist who is “grand”! The duck and monk fish are superb.
It’s been four years since my last visit and with the exception of one dish, the food was no where near where it used to be. This will be my last visit to one of my old favorites.
This place was phenomenal! The service and the food were impeccable as well as the cocktails. The pianist was extremely talented. Can't wait to return!
Good food nice ambiance with live piano music
A wonderful experience from the moment we were met st the door. The staff was friendly, accommodating, professional; the food was superb; the ambience, elegant; and the music fabulous. A memorable evening!
We frequently have brunch here on Sunday and are never disappointed. Reservations honored with quick seating. The staff is lovely. The food is delicious, and the piano player just adds to the ambiance. Love this restaurant for brunch.
Food, service and and atmosphere very good, of course, we will recommend and be back soon.
It is always so wonderful to go back to Chez Josephine. It is always the same as the years pass, and yet as fresh as new.
Chez Joséphine is a real treat, we enjoyed it tremendously. Our server Valentine was so gracious and helpful. We will be back!
