Service person was nice but the wait for our meals was too long - it took about an hour to be served. Thankfully we were with friends and enjoyed chatting .
The food was delicious. However, our server was awful and unfortunately made our dining experience unenjoyable.
Our waitress was great. I love it when they tell you the specials and tel what the cost is - many do not. Everyone loved their food!
I had not been to Chez Foushee in quite a while, and I was pleasantly surprised by the brighter surroundings. The food was excellent, and my friends and I loved it.
Dinner for three after lecture! Risotto always excellent, cod perfectly cooked and veggies yumm, crab cake declared perfect no filler evident! Caesar Salsds perfectly crunchy!
Chez Foushee is a "hidden treasure" and a Richmond classic. Always reminds me of dining in the West Village. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere is welcoming elegant and gracious
Chez Foushee never disappoints! Our salads were lovely to see, delicious and nicely dressed! The Chocolate shortbread stack was perfect to share and the stawberry garnish, lovely and tasty! Looking forward to returning Thrusday evening with couple friends!
Easter Brunch. VERY limited menu. Really, only 5 entrees to choose from. I had Filet and eggs, which was insanely good. Great coffee too. (Maybe I was hungry?)
Overall a nice experience that could have been better but could have been A LOT worse.
Chez Foushee is a quietly elegant and well-established restaurant. Our server was impeccable, our entree (cod in a fish fumer) delicious, and dessert was tops. Chez Foushee is a wonderful place for a delicious meal and lconversation among friends.
Great food and a great time! The space is unique and cozy. Staff was on it and the chocolate truffles that were sent out from chef Whitney ;)were an amazing ending to an awesome experience.
Lovely all around
Perfect for a romantic dinner for 2. Lovely ambience- will definitely be back
All good. I love this place. Food is delicious albeit on the small-serving size.
Very good restaurant for a special occasion. The food was excellent and the service was also outstanding.
Had a very good Brunch here. The service staff seemed to be a little tentative and perhaps understaffed, but the food was excellent as was the atmosphere.
It was a birthday for my sister in law. Jason and other staff made it a perfect evening for us all.
Incredible food accompanied by great service.
Wonderful duck entree!
Our server was attentive and efficient. The menu was full of good options. My caeser salad was lovely, and the bread was fresh and warm. I got the risotto and it was creamy with chunks of asparagus. I would go again.
First visit since ownership changed and still top-notch! Smoked Cherry Old Fashioned is great, but my spouse hopes they bring back the Lemonade Martini.
Be aware, the parking lot next door has changed and is not free anymore. Depending on time of day, street parking isn't difficult.
Mussel appetizer was tasty, great duck and prime rib entrees, and finished it off with fantastic lemon butter cake. The Parmesan truffle fries are amazing!
Excellent lunch with colleagues. Look forward to going back for dinner and drinks.
With windows and 2 sides, this bright and lovely restaurant is a favorite for lunch ... great salads and yummy desserts ... and great service.
I went here with my girlfriend for our first anniversary and they impressed!! It did say on OpenTable that there was some sort of free parking nearby in a lot but that wasn’t true, upon speaking to the owner we moved the car and she made it up to us with the most amazing chocolate balls. There is plenty of street parking so moving the car was no big deal at all. The filet mignon with potatoes aI gratin was the best I have ever tasted and my girlfriend LOVED the mushroom risotto. 10/10 is my new favorite restaurant. Would go more often if it was less expensive!
Food would have been excellent if it had been served hot rather than just warm. Restaurant is very beautiful, but because all its surfaces are hard, it was very noisy even when not full, and the music, which could have been all acoustic, was unnecessarily amped and loud. The hostess and waitress were lovely, gracious, and professional. Although it is convenient for us, we will probably not go again because it is not quiet enough for easy conversation. Perhaps on another occasion the food would served as hot as its quality justified.
I was a bit disappointed. Ordered the ribeye medium but it arrived pretty rare. The service was so-so at best. Water never refilled without asking. Waiting a long time before we could order. My steak was also very peppery and tough. It was pretty noisy in there as well. I probably won’t return as there are many other better Richmond restaurants for the same price.
We happened on Chez Foushee by accident once, and made special plans to return for a Virginia Opera weekend. We stuck to the seafood options, and they were wonderful! They were out of a few dishes, but helped us find terrific substitutes. The food was imaginative, well prepared, and served very attractively. The desserts were superlative, and the waitress was both friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. We'll be back.
Wonderful service and food in an eclectic and energetic environment!
What a wonderful spot! Beautiful restaurant, close to theaters and Siegel Center. It was busy while we were there because of pre-theater crowd so service was amiable and capable but not detailed. We will come back for a quieter time. Lemon custard cake is truly outstanding!
Outstanding. Considering the recent change in ownership, impressed with the staffs coordination, knowledge and personal attention. The menu was wonderful with a variety of excellently prepared and delicious options. Perfect for our wonderful theater date night!
We chose this restaurant because it was fairly close to the Altria Theatre. We were extremely pleased with the ambiance, service, and menu. The ribeye steak and duck were very well prepared and tasty. Hummus was house-made and delicious. Charcuterie board was excellent. Wine selection, specialty cocktails, dessert, and even the coffee were all delicious. Elena was our delightful and well informed server. Overall a wonderful experience and we will return.
We really enjoyed our brunch. The night prior we were in a noisy restaurant so the ambience at Chez Foushee was much appreciated!
Food was amazing, we could see how much effort the chef has put in to make it perfect! We had the Mussels for the appetizer, I ordered the pan seared cod and my wife ordered shrimp in creole sauce and both the dishes were just perfect! It was verycrowded and sometimes you will not get your silent corner! I had requested to bring a lit candle on our dessert as it was my wife’s bday but that was forgotten. But the quality of the food trumped everything else! Hats off to the Chef! Thank you!
Fantastic service from Jason with several menu suggestions that were absolutely spot on!
The toffee pudding for dessert was an insane ending to a great meal.
A keeper on the Richmond dinner list!
Picturesque place for a romantic occasion.
Filet was nice and so was the butternut squash bisque. However, the Rockfish was very bland and improperly paired with off tasting peas. They were also out of the sweet potato fondant which I was looking forward to with my Filet and they replaced with a risotto which wasn't the best pairing. Dessert was an excellent finish just like how the Starter began it the dinner. Service was a little slow but that was the kitchen as our server was on point.
My Wife and I went to Chez Foushee for the first time and really enjoyed the food and service.
This was our first visit and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Service was great. Highly recommend. We will go back.
Have been a long-time Chez Foushee devotee. Our "go-to" Valentine's lunch, and regular spot for dinner with friends. Just made my last visit on Valentines day. The service was awful and the food was bad. I don't know if this is due to new management. Ironically, the server we had has been very attentive in the past. Didn't even know if had specials for Valentine's day. Had to finally get up and ask for a desert menu.
Sadly, our last visit to Chez Foushee
Delightful find. Lovely setting, great service and scrumptious food. Perfect for a Sunday morning brunch or even dinner.
Delicious french food. Great atmosphere and ambience. Nicely lit and great place to dine with friends or as a couple. Looking forward to returning soon.
