It’s pronounced foo-SHAY.
Chez Foushee is located on the corner of E. Grace Street & Foushee Street. Foushee Street is named after Richmond’s first mayor, William Foushee, whose surname was likely pronounced with a French inflection during his time. But over the years, the shay has evolved into shee, as it has for the restaurant’s name. Andrew & Dennis passed the baton to Whitney Cardozo retiring after 28 years of unwavering hospitality.
We answer to both foo-SHAY & foo-SHEE, and we look forward to seeing you for another 28 years!
It is wonderful to know the current ownership has maintained and improved on the standards of Chez Foushee. The staff is attentive and enjoyable too. I would definitely suggest others to dine here.
An excellent dinner for my partners birthday! I would absolutely come back.
Wonderful evening In all ways - we’ll return as soon as possible.
We had a lovely time. The food was very good. My only objection was too many bones in my trout. Dessert and Onion soup appetizer were outstanding. Very good but not over-the-top wine list. Service was impeccable.
Always a pleasure to dine at Chez Foushee. Everything is excellent and only wish parking was a bit simpler! Staff is excellent and accommodating and food always a pleasure.
Food was excellent and service was unrushed (they weren’t trying to turn the table over quickly).
Wonderful. Food was delicious. Waiter was charming! Will recommend this restaurant to others.
We were completely delighted with this special New Year’s Eve dinner. And, we rarely give such glowing reviews The flavors and presentation were exceptional. We did not expect so much flavor from the beef entree. In fact, it surpassed many , much more expensive steak restaurants. We live in Washington DC area, but will definitely return whenever we are in Richmond.
Jamie, our waitress was superb &the the food was also superb. Still one of the best restaurants in Richmond.
We had a lovely time. The food was excellent.
Everything was perfect!
Wonderful gem in downtown Richmond. Very elegant space with classic architectural details. Wait staff warm and friendly. Food excellent; great bar and wine list. Delicious asparagus quiche with salad--perfect portions and flavors. I have dined here many times, and never tire of returning.
Everything about our luncheon at Chez was great. The food was wonderful-our waiter was great-and I am planning my next visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful gem of a restaurant! Lovely Parisian ambiance!
Great service, great food overall great experience.
Wonderful experience, ambience, server, and food. I was thoroughly impressed with the level of quality.
Wonderful evening, really enjoyed the food and service and setting
I loved my shrimp and risotto with creole sauce. My wife was somewhat less enamored of the scallops although she thought they were pretty good. Our guests also liked their dishes but didn’t rave about them. The restaurant is very lovely. Service was a bit slow but very friendly. We recommend Chez Foushee.
Great service, delicious food and a lovely environment.
Delicious food and drinks. We especially enjoyed the charcuterie and appetizer. The piano player was a nice touch.
Food and table service was excellent. Cocktails from the bar were very good. Very comfortable upscale atmosphere.
Elegance, warmth & great meals. The ambiance at Chez F is great. A fairly quiet restaurant. Helpful, friendly, but not intrusive staff. Not the largest menu in town, but the three dishes my 2 companions & I had were all top rate.
None of my friends who were with me had ever been, but our meal and experience was so superb that two of them said that we needed to come back there again. We meet once a month at different places around town, and your restaurant just got launched into our top tier. Both quiches were just superb. Thank you for another wonderful meal!
Loved my seafood crepe. We liked our waiter however couldn't get his attention now & then we needed him. Ambiance was lovely and we could talk comfortably.
Excellent customer service, food was delicious. Great for Sunday brunch.
The host was very good and was able to get us a table even though we were early for our reservation. Our server, Copley, was very professional and personable . The duck was excellent.
Our dinner was delicious, but a bit pricey. The only issue we had was the strong smell of the bouquet of Lillie’s on the bar, which permeated the first and second levels. Lillie’s do not belong in a restaurant!!
There was a part time gentleman who helped with the service. He made the experience excellent. Our waitress was just ok and got our check wrong. He went out of his way to take care of us when he noticed how long it was taking for service and the food. The duck breast and filet were excellent! We would come again, just leave more time.
I am shocked that this place is not more crowded on a Friday night. The service was excellent and I love the options on the menu. I had the French onion soup and steak frites which were very good and my husband had the brussel salad and shrimp creole which was delicious! We will definitely be back soon!
Love Chez Foushee! Can never go wrong with them. Amazing wine list and the food is always spectacular. Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable about wine.
Loved CF! From the casual elegance, to Russell’s impeccable attention to our table, we had a fabulous brunch. The fried oysters were light; the charcuterie plate was spot on; the french onion soup, chesapeake eggs benedict, traditional eggs benedict, and duck confit were all magnific!! If that wasn’t good enough, the gluten free chocolate cake was the perfect ending to a Sunday funday!
Always a treat; good food, knowledgeable and friendly staff, convenient to theater and hotels. A favorite for years.
Great food, great wine, and excellent service in a charming atmosphere. Only complaint was the portion size. Delicious food but we wanted more of it. Even so, we recommend Chez Foushee very highly and look forward to going back.
This is not my first time at Chez Fourshee. The service is always outstanding, the food creative and fresh and in general a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend Chez Fourshee. It's a winner!
First time at this restaurant and the experience was above expectations. Food was excellent, the service impeccable and good value for the night. Very good wine list, wait staff was spot on.
Jason was an attentive and knowledgeable server whose recommendations were very much appreciated. The warm salad with Brussel sprouts, blue cheese and bacon was divine! I have even attempted to replicate it! Truly, every course was mouth watering and the bottle of Cabernet paired beautifully with everything!
Fantastic meal with wonderful friendly service! Great food at a reasonable price!
We came for restaurant week and found a new favorite. We plan to return with friends next weekend.
Visited for Restaurant Week. Great value. Great meal.
