The service was friendly and professional. The food was excellent. The ambience allowed for a romantic conversation and anniversary celebration.
Delicious entrees (trout and duck) and great wine all at very reasonable prices. Excellent service, too.
What a wonderful hidden gem. I had driven past many times and finally tried it. My bad for missing out on a fantastic dining experience. Now it is on the top of my list, you should try it you will be happy.
The fish and chips were light as a feather - it's a shame to call them by their pub name. Lovely evening with great service and food!
Food was mediocre. Caesar salads were fine (hard to mess up), trout was okay, steak not very good. Overall, sort of boring/traditional.
The service was VERY slow and when the food finally came, it was cold.
Also, I used Open Table to make the reservation and got an email saying it was not eligible for points. This is the second time this has happened. What gives?
Lovely spot, a long time favorite. Such a nice place to come.
This is a paradise in the city -- not just one of the most physically beautiful of places but lovely, lovely food. We now live in the far West End, a barren wasteland for food and this restaurant brings us back to our senses. We are still in culinary touch with the city of Richmond. We shall be back, again and again.
Beautiful restaurant with friendly, attentive staff and great food. Highly recommend!
Lovely atmosphere, great service and yummy food! Give a try maybe a date night out with friends for casual dinner with great variety!
We wanted the dinner special and we got it! Very nice
Have been coming here-on and off- for several years and have always had a good experience. My experience yesterday for Sunday brunch was exceptional. The dining rooms are lovely and elegant in their simplicity. The attention to detail—vintage hotel silver plate and exquisite linen napkins—makes the experience extra special. Our server was warm and helpful, answering our questions in appropriate detail.
While not vast, the menu had something for every appetite. One suggestion ( and not a criticism) would be to have gluten free bread available for some dishes and at least one dessert that wasn’t dairy dependent. I look forward to returning soon!
Wonderful little French restaurant always dependable for excellent food and service.
Flawless in every aspect. Hot, delicious food served quickly and expertly. Attentive service. Outstanding ambience. Pleasant background music, at the perfect volume, while the restaurant itself was quiet enough for convivial conversation without having to raise one's voice. Highly recommended.
Food was amazing! Service was fantastic! Atmosphere was fabulous!!!
Food was great, wait staff was friendly and accommodating. Main course took a long time because initial rush of theater-goers had the kitchen backed up a bit. Nice place overall.
Very slow service
A delicious dinner before the show at the Rep! Our party of six selected a variety of dishes from Pan Roasted Trout, Mussels, Ratatouille, Seafood Crepe and Salmon to Grilled Filet Mignon! I particularly enjoyed the Brussels Sprout Salad. The entire group was pleased with every cocktail, wine and Entree. The service was wonderful!
Looking forward to our next visit with friends and family.
Our first time dining at Chez Foushee and we will be back. Russell gave us outstanding service. The ambiance was very nice with a great feel. Wine list and menu reasonably priced as well.
Three couples, everyone’s food was delicious. Met the owner and chef we were very impressed with the decor and the food. We will be back.
The menu could use some work and be closer to French cooking which has alot of more intense flavors. My duck and my wife's Coq au Vin lacked any flavors and were lack lustre. Overall the experience was ok for our anniversary but we've had better meals in Richmond for the price. This was our first time there and the staff was friendly. Thanks
Our dinner was, as usual, very good. I had the trout and my wife had the shrimp creole, with butter cake and creme brulee for dessert. Our only complaint is that the kitchen tends to be a bit slow, so we always allow a little extra time extra time if we have theater tickets.
This was my second visit and I knew it was the special place to celebrate my husband's birthday with several family members. It has a very elegant feel without being intimidating, and the large windows and clever seating combine to create intimate, yet specious venue. Our server was personable and very helpful as we made our selections. We were there for lunch, so our menu was more casual, but still delicious. The crab sandwich and tarragon chicken salad were big hits, and the gentlemen said the fries were the amazing. Two of ours guests had the hamburger topped with an egg over easy. All I can say is that, although they agreed it was delicious, it was a good thing we were all family, because it is very messy to eat! I had the scallops the last time I ate there and they were fantastic. The large windows and clever seating create an air of spaciousness and privacy which we appreciated. The service was impeccable, and overall, the restaurant was a great value for the money. A happy space to celebrate a happy occasion.
Awesome. Will return frequently in future mushroom cream sauce on scallop appetizer was spectacular. Lemon butter cake all time favorite.
Perfect Valentines date.
Our Valentine's Day/Birthday dinner was superb in every way. We were on a fairly tight pre-theatre schedule and dallied a bit too long enjoying the prix-fixe dinner and conversation with dear friends. So our excellent waiter Russell arranged for us to return after the performance and elegantly served our desserts and remaining wine. Our experience was memorably great!
First, the dinner I had was outstanding! Chef's special trout. The heriots and roasted potatoes to die for and seasonings and ight sauce were rich and flavorful.
I loved the eclectic dinner ware. Beautiful and elegant setting.
The service was wonderful not at all intrusive but responsive.
I gave the noise level a low rsting because it was difficult for the 4 of us to hear each other over the conversations of others. I have good hearing and here weren't many other customers, The restaurant seemed about 1/3 full.
I would definitely go again because the food was delicious, but hope something could be done about the noise.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time. The staff was incredibly attentive, the atmosphere was amazing, and the food was world class. We could not have picked a better spot for our anniversary. We can’t wait to come back!
This is one of our favorite places to meet friends. I love the ambiance and friendly service we always get at this restaurant. The food are varied and delicious. It is obvious that the owner cares. She is always present and always makes sure every guest has a great experience!
Food was fantastic, service was exceptional, and the wine list was great! Also great prices for the quality of food and wine.
Chez Foushee is great place to have intimate and relaxing dinner. The food portions were generous and the very well done. My wife (who does not care for fish) ordered the trout and was highly impressed. She said she would order it again! We had a full menu (Appetizer, Salad, Entree, Dessert and Cappuccino) and everything was very good.
Outstanding food and service. Waiter was attentive and friendly without being intrusive.
Food was good as was service. Every time the door opened cold air rushed in which didn’t add to our dining pleasure as we were chilled many times throughout our dinner. Otherwise it was very nice.
Chef was very accommodating for my dietary needs. They even made my own menu up. This restaurant is in an old renovated house so you have the feeling of coziness. Traditional food nothing innovative but solidly good. The butternut squash soup was not as sweet as I have had but it was tasty in a savory essence. The trout and salmon were good but not special. We did not have desserts but they looked pleasing.
We spent a few days in Richmond and had dinner at Chez Foushee our second night there. The food was really good and our server was great. He even gave us a great recommendation for a breakfast place for the following morning. The menu was reasonably priced for the value and taste of the food. I would definitely eat here again if I find myself back in Richmond!
Went here for an anniversary dinner, it was absolutely fantastic. Wonderful service and a delicious menu. Would HIGHLY recommend to a friend and will definitely be going back. I ordered the cheese/meat plate appetizer and the burger entree, also got the lemon cake for dessert. I don't even like lemon but I LOVED their lemon cake!
Wonderful dinner. We attend the symphony regularly, and we often start our evening here. Even the threat of snow did not keep the restaurant from being fully staffed, and serving us an excellent boeuf bourguignonne.
Go, you will not regret your decision.
Went here on a date. Very classy. Not crowded and not sitting on top of other diners. Able to talk.
Romantic restaurant. Convenient to the Arts area, especially for shows at the November Theater. Service from Daniel was wonderful. Very welcoming when we arrived. Will be back!
We ate here on New Years Eve, which is a busy and crazy night everywhere. But we were so happy with our decision to eat at Chez Foushee. Our table was not ready when we arrived but we were greeted warmly with apologies for delay. We were seated at the bar and immediately we relaxed into the wonderful warm atmosphere of the restaurant. Our meal from start to finish was perfect. We both ordered fish for our main course (two different fish dishes). They came piping hot, moist and full of flavor. Our server Daniel was excellent and made us feel relaxed and not rushed. I would definitely recommend ChezFoushee and I look forward to returning there very soon.
