Pastry chef Andrea (Dre) Reiss & business partner Stephen Sam, with the team at Breathe Architecture, spent six months transforming this South Melbourne warehouse into a modern bakery & café with art deco influences that opened in 2011. Chez Dré compliments its rustic, industrial aesthetic with an eclectic mix of marble-topped tables, upcycled/reclaimed timber & green button-tufted banquettes. An original Chez Dré kaleidoscopic motif blankets the polished concrete floor & bespoke ironwork flanks the entrances with the shade of a peppercorn tree providing year-round seating in the courtyard. Divided into various spaces from the intimate banquette seating to large communal tables, Chez Dré offers a different experience to everyone including child friendly high chairs & a dog friendly courtyard.

Overpriced for a cold brunch. Over cooked eggs and dried sausages and not so good food pairing. Destroyed the essence of an eggs Benedict and a sin to burn a brioche bread. Chez Dre’s food before was amazing and happy to pay for what it’s worth but very disappointing to come back to somewhat below average brunch.

Was a nice time; unfortunately we were seated by the door which was a little uncomfortable with a queue of people looming over you while eating. We were hoping to book for 7, but only for 6 available. Then seated on a table that would have fitted 8. Food was good, especially the croque madame. Servers were a little slow to take second rounds of coffee, but were very helpful.

Easy booking process. Nice food & friendly service. Able to sit in once we arrived, no trouble at all.

Been here a number of times. Wait to actually get seated others a reservation was bad. Wait to actually get your food was even more silly. Staff too overwhelmed and by the time I get my Croque Monsieur it was a brick. Go somewhere else!
