Chez Billy Sud
What Insiders Are Saying
For classic French food in Georgetown, head to Chez Billy Sud.
Our go to place..never disappoints! City chic..great food, perfectly attentive service..our family loves Chez Billy Sud.
We had a great evening at Chez Billy Sud, from drinks to dessert. Great waiter, too — Cameron — attentive without being intrusive.
Food was adequate but nothing special, which is sad. Used to be such a fine restaurant.
Would definitely recommend for brunch! Lovely traditional place with excellent food and service!
Great atmosphere, delicious food & awesome service!
perfect brunch location for a small group. we will definitely come again!
Absolutely amazing! The food was perfect and the service was exceptional. I will definitely be going back.
We sat at a little marble topped table outside under awnings from the south of France on an early spring day in Washington DC. The food was delicious. It was a lovely way to spend my birthday with an old friend!
Everything about this place was great! The service, food, drinks, and ambiance were all perfect. Definitely will return.
Very different from the menu when La Ruche was in this spot . Wonderful gazpacho and gnocchi! Nice vegetarian options ! Will be going back.
Chez Billy Sud is consistently one of the best dining experiences in DC. The service is warm and professional, the food is always beautifully executed and delicious, and each of the three spaces--dining room, patio, and wine bar--has its own ambiance and charm. The wine list is much more interesting than your average DC high-end place and also much better value.
Food was excellent. I loved how everything was prepared with appreciation for the natural flavor of ingredients. Service was good. A place was lively but not too crowded/loud which made it perfect for business lunch. I also liked unpretentious decor. Its nothing fancy but they obviously focus more on the food itself than being “insta worthy” which I very much appreciate. I’d love to try their dinner menu next.
Everything was amazing soup to nuts. Thank you Chez Billy for a tremendous evening.
This is my second time at the restaurant. The food is excellent and the service was great. It is also a really cute restaurant. However, they were having a problem with their air conditioner and it was freezing in there.
Perfection. Looks like Paris, tastes like Paris. Everything that we ate and drank (rose window cocktail, escargots, duck confit, tuna nicoise, and chocolate torte) was delicious; the vol au vent aux escargots May have been the most delicious thing that we ever ate. And the service was attentive but not overbearing, friendly, and incredibly thoughtful. We cannot say enough good things about this restaurant, and we will be back.
The food was fantastic and our waiter, Camron was incredibly helpful and we chose and loved everyone of his recommendations. We will definitely be back.
The ambiance is beautiful but food is disappointing. It’s very expensive too. I ordered duck leg and it wasn’t anything special at all. The meat was too dry and cooked too much as well. They serve it with some type of potato dish which was really really sour. I don’t know what it was.
If you’re looking for a romantic evening then this’s the right place but don’t expect anything from the meal.
There’re better French restaurants in DC.
First time here. Food was great, Service impeccable.
Chez Billy Sud combines fine food with a pleasant atmosphere for conversation in the heart of Georgetown. The menu offers a range of French favorites. We chose some of the favorites noted in reviews: salads Cesar, onion soup, and escargot in pastry puff with entrees--trout, mussels, chicken, and duck. I loved the truite grenobloise, one of the best I've ever had. I tried the mussels, served in a large pot generous portion, but the actual mussels were a bit too large. The duck and chicken dishes were tender. Appreciated our wine selection of a Sancerre from the Loire. Server was a professional and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Great place for authentic home style French food. Loved it.
Service was great, the server was on top of it.
The food was delicious and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly.
A classic French bistro very much on par with Bistro Lepic and others. Classic food, beautifully prepared. Service was prompt and friendly without being intrusive.
Lovely diner as always. Great cocktail and nice wine list.
Great service, Great food!
Excellent food and great service. Enjoyable restaurant.
Perfect experience, exceptional service and delicious food! Our sever, Agnes was delightful.
Casual and comfortable; never pretentious. Chez Billy Sud always delivers on very good service and very good food. Love the environment. I'll keep coming back.
A great place to go before a show at the Kennedy Center. We made early reservations and were sat immediately. The restaurant filled up to capacity as we ate. The food was fantastic and the mixed drinks VERY good. Will definitely be back. Fantastic service.
Once again, absolutely superb. The smoked bluefish rillettes was just the right balance of pungent fishiness and smooth fat. The steak frites was testimony why you should never hesitate to get steak in a restaurant where the professional grills are so hot you get a result you cannot duplicate at home -- a crispy crust with tender, tasty pink meat inside. My companion's potato-crusted salmon with lentils was perfection, bursting with flavor. Wine, service, all great. Don't miss the bar next door where truly expert mixologists serve up cocktails that match the quality of the food.
This is just a wonderful place for great food in a nice setting. Always have fun here . . . typically get the trout because I LOVE trout. Others in our group got the duck and they loved their selections, too.
I have visited Chez Billy on my past two trips to DC and both experiences were great. The first was dining solo inside and the second was dining with my girlfriend on the patio. Our server was great -- friendly and seemingly well known by other diners. Food was served promptly. And it all tasted great.
The only thing I lament is that I didn't know about the wine bar until this most recent visit. We walked through it and it looked like a great place to cozy up for a romantic evening in Georgetown.
Absolutely loved this restaurant. The ambience was warm, inviting and charming, beautifully decorated and very French! Food was wonderful with a fine wine selection. Started with the county pate which was very excellent, next time will get the escargot served in a puff pastry. It looked amazing. The duck confit was excellent. Two days later, still thinking about our meal! Service was great. Will definitely dine here every time we’re in Georgetown!
Wonderful! Aggie, our server was amazing. Felt like we were in Paris!
A gem! Excellent food and service!
Absolutely delicious and Great service. Beautiful find. Highly recommend brunch spot!!
Absolutely lovely. We went for our anniversary. The food was delicious and unique, the service was great, and we look forward to seeing what new additions to the menue there will be next time. We were a bit late for our reservation and they held the reservation for us.
The restaurant has character and the food was delicious. Unfortunately we had a waitress who wanted to be somewhere else. She behaved completely annoyed with every request. She was mechanical in service and took the joy out of my evening. While I would try Chez Billy again I would refuse her as our waitress
We met old college friends at Billy Sud, and it was a pleasure. The food and service was terrific.
Already did. Seeing a Trump cabinet mbr. Made it particularly exciting for an out of towner.
