Chez Billy Sud
Great place to grab a romantic, French dinner over a beautiful, full bodied red Bordeaux! It is VERY loud so be prepared to speak up! We’re huge fans of the duck! Wait and bar service is stellar too!
This place is an underrated gem. Creative, delicious food, great wine program, warm service, and a quiet, gorgeous ambiance.
Great server. Love the duck leg and chicken mousse. Never disappoints!
Dishes were the chef used his creativity (rillettes with trout eggs; crispy duck breast) were far superior to the traditional French dishes (canard a l orange; steak/frites). The wine list was excellent. Our waitress was great-- present when we needed her and very sensitive to our needs and pace.
Very pleasant atmosphere. I would definitely go back.
the service was outstanding and the food was better than that.
We often choose this restaurant for out of town guests. On this occasion, we had two daughters and a nine month grandson visiting. The baby did squawk a few times and someone seated nearby commented that it was loud and then followed up to ask if we understood he was complaining about us having the baby make noise. We all decided that we had better skip dessert and leave as this had sent the mother nearly into tears. We had, by the way, taken him outside a few times so he would not make noise. The staff responded by saying they had brought us dessert (we had not ordered it) and they made us feel wanted and welcome. Moved to the top of my list on best service ever. Thank you.
Always have a great time at your restaurant!
Every one, from the host (had to change this reservation 3 times) to the wait staff was just super!
The food is always consistent, and always good!
One of the best spot to visit when your are in town, not really a tourist spot, what make it even better for us who live here! A job well done!
Thank you, Jens Fisker
Such great food and service! Totally recommend for brunch!
Extremely pleased by ambience, service, and magnificent food. The most exquisitely prepared tuna and mousse we ever had. We will definitely be back and must visit when in Georgetown. If I could give more than 5 stars, would give a 10!
Everything from cocktails to desert was delicious. Service was wonderful. We are outside and with 32st street closed noise level was relatively low.
I enjoyed my dining experience so much at Chez Billy I've already made plans to return for another dinner.
Wonderful french bistro type of restaurant. They have a beautiful patio, but it was so hot we decided to stay inside. We were there early before seeing a show at the Kennedy Center, so there were not many people in the restaurant. Food, service, wine list are all stellar. I get the trout almost every time I go because I love it so much! My husband had the tuna nicoise which was also excellent.
We had a terrific dinner..again! Love this restaurant, love the food, and love the service! Will be back hopefully sooner rather than later!
Excellent dinner with my adult sons. Both will be back with friends. So will I!
Our server Cameron was amazing!
Excellent food very good price for quality. Dellicately prepared
Always an excellent option if you're looking for French food in the DMV! The duck and fish options are always excellent and the butternut squash soup made me change my whole outlook on vegetables!
Comfortable, beautiful setting, good service, good food
Very slow service
food, service, ambiance are all 💯. i can’t say enough terrific things about it. a washington gem!
We looked forward to pre-theatre meal and to our second visit to Chez Billy Sud. Lovely small townhouse restaurant that also has a small side courtyard that is pleasant on good weather days. Very easy walk through Washington Harbor from Kennedy Center. Service is always special, and coming as early as we do at the 5pm opening ensures special attention and a quiet meal. Our server Jason was very attentive and made sure we did not run out of food or drink! We were looking forward to the Foie de Volaille (chicken liver mousse) and raisin oat toast and were pleased, although the foie was a bit more moist than we remembered. I had the sea bass and my husband the mussels, and both of our choices were delightful and more than we could finish. We will definitely go back again.
This place is great. The food was amazing and the service was just perfect. We had a large party for a business lunch that ran over the restaurant lunch hours but they didn’t even mention it and let us continue until our natural conclusion.
We shared many items on the menu all of which were great except for the chicken mousse stuff that I didn’t love. But that’s just my average palate talking.
Excellent food; however, some may not care for the limited menu. We started with two pates, the pork pate and the chicken liver mousse. Both were outstanding. We shared a fabulous house salad. My wife ate the trout dish; I had the duck breast. Both were very tasty. The champagne list is not robust but decent. The staff served it very cold, as should be done. I liked this restaurant and would return gladly on my next trip to D.C.
Lovely space, fantastic menu and extensive wine menu. Everyone had to taste and experience each other's entrees, and we just had to order dessert even though we were full. We will definitely keep this spot in rotation for date night or other occasions.
Lovely neighborhood gem. Started with beet salad and pate, followed by tuna and salmon entrees. Our waiter Adam was attentive and interested in our welfare
The wine list is diverse enough to satisfy everyone's taste and price range. We like to have a night cap at the small bar in the rear.
The food is really outstanding, without the stuffiness of traditional French restaurants.
It was lovely sitting outside with the bistro lights. While the waiter was friendly and helpful, it took a long time to get our food and to get our check. The food was good but not outstanding. It was an enjoyable date night.
Great gem of a French bistro in the middle of Georgetown. Ambiance, service, and feed were amazing. Can't say enough and can't wait to return.
Need better chairs. They are exceptionally uncomfortable.
I love Chez Billy Sud— authentically a small French bistro (without the noise and drama if Le Diplomate (which I also frequent). The bridge reconstruction on 31st Street makes access a challenge but a determined lover of la bonne chance will make the effort!
Perfect upscale lunch.
The food is so good it gave me goosebumps. This is now my new favorite restaurant. I’ll be going back any chance I can get. To top it off, service was fantastic.
Hands down our favorite meal in DC so far! Loved everything about this place. Our server was attentive and very helpful. If you’re looking for a non pretentious, quaint place with tasty food this is it
It was wonderful. The food, the ambiance, out server Mack, my incredible fiancé! Have the chicken liver spread and the trout! It was all delicious but these two I highly recommend! Cannot wait to return to Georgetown to eat here again! And go early and have a cocktail in the gorgeous old bar connected to the terrace. You will feel like you’ve been transported to another time and place.
Chez Billy Sud is the perfect hideaway for an intimate, well-prepared lunch or dinner. Like any great French bistro, its mission is to please rather than astonish. Nothing is done for effect or fashion; it's simply flawless, flavorful French cuisine served with warmth in an enjoyable setting. Trends and new hotspots come and go, but this is the kind of cooking that will always endure, because the focus is on simple excellence and hospitality. Do yourself a favor and order the chicken liver paté; you'll thank me.
Went there for brunch. One of the appetizer arrived as the others were finishing theirs. Made sure to say that we are celebrating a special birthday and yet there was no effort whatsoever to acknowledge the fact not even a complimentary small dessert. When I brought that to the attention of our server as we asked for the bill, he said but no one wanted dessert! I was hoping that they would be more proactive about it especially that I stressed the reason of our brunch when they called to confirm. Food was Good but nothing spectacular.
Among the most lovely places to have brunch in DC. The food is good, the service attentive but not intrusive, and conversation is possible!
I’ve eaten both lunch and dinner there several times and enjoyed for the most part. This was the second time I’ve ordered the Steak Frites and will not ordered again. Both times over cooked. Ordered medium rare and arrived medium-well. Presentation was unattractive. Just a hunk of beef on the plate. Fries were delicious. Cuddos for taking my meal off the bill. My pate was very good and all three of my guests enjoyed their meals. My husband ordered the same dinner as I did and said it was just okay. Have had better in other restaurants. This is such a charming place and I would recommend...just skip the steak frites.
The courtyard was especially nice.
