For classic French food in Georgetown, head to Chez Billy Sud.
I could not more highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic lunch or dinner. Wonderful food and impeccable service!!!
Still love this place. Love coming here with my friends. Right in Georgetown.
Exceptionally prepared meal with efficient, friendly service.
The tuna was good but a bit heavy on the herbs and skimpy on the potatoes and anchovies. My dining companion said the trout was excellent. The 20 layer crepe cake was bland and quite disappointing.
Nice evening out.
Beautiful lunch on the lovely patio surrounded by their herb planters. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back!
One of the bright Georgetown restaurant that is authentic and interesting, every time we dine there!
Great ambiance and some of the staff were very nice and courteous but a few were smirky and offended my friend from California (who isn't used to those types of attitudes in a nice restaurant).
we loved sitting outside - weather was perfect. Food was OK - nothing special but not bad either.
Well-deserved reputation for intimate dining experience.

Can’t imagine how it could have been any better.
Great food, as usual!
All around perfect date night. Loved everything!
My boyfriend and I stopped by Chez Billy Sud before heading over to Kennedy for a show. Our reservation was for 5PM (show was to start at 7PM), and we were a couple minutes early. The restaurant opened on time and we were seated (outside per our request) right away. Having studied the menu prior to getting there, we knew what we wanted: duck egg poached in red wine, escargot, steak frites, and duck confit. We placed our order and a round of cocktails (Dandy and Rose Window). The weather was great, it was breezy and the little alley used for outdoor seating was charming. We got our food pretty quickly and we definitely enjoy everything. Escargot was nice and creamy; poached egg had perfect runny yolk, delicious mushroom and a couple pieces of pork belly; steak was a generous cut and juicy (not exactly medium rare that we ordered, a little over done but it was juicy and we were on a time crunch); duck was nice and crispy on the outside, the skin has a thin layer of fat underneath and it was delicious. We ordered a second round of drinks and dessert (panna cotta) and it started drizzling, not wanting to get wet before having to sit through a three-hour opera, we moved to Bar a Vin (same establishment next door) and finished out meal inside. At one point, a server stopped by to let us know that the rain had stopped and we could go back outside if we wanted, nice gesture!
Overall, a fine experience in Georgetown for pre-theatre, special occasion or just a random night out.
Absolutely lovely. The food was great, the service really excellent and a lovely spot. We ate outside. Couldn't have been better.
We loved Chez Billy Sud. The food was exceptional and the service given by our waiter, Fluke was outstanding!
Calmness, smiles, and attentiveness of our lady server made our first time experience here extremely enjoyable. Combined that with the exceptionally well prepared meals earned my highest rating. Definitely repeatable!
Excellent French food, quiet and deferential service and less noisy than most DC restaurants.
Regret parking is a nightmare in Georgetown & the service was quite frankly, appalling.
Everything was outstanding. Friends took us there and then, because the experience was so outstanding, we went back for a birthday celebration. Even though it is in Georgetown, parking was easy, both on street and in several nearby parking garages. Don’t miss this little gem. They also have outside dining, but we haven’t been there yet in really good weather. Also just up the hill from the waterfront, so a stroll either before or after dining can be fun, too. And, of course, strolling along M street or up the hill into Georgetown is great fun. Don’t miss this little gem.
A wonderful fresh take on an upscale Parisian bistro, with great food, creative cocktails, impeccable service, and a beautiful French wine list. If you can't get to France for the weekend, this is the best possible substitute.
Excellent food and service-a favorite!
Always a pleasure, with reliably excellent food and good wine selections
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner at this spot. The room is lovely and the adjacent wine bar is very nice. The food, cocktails and wine list were all outstanding .The entrees were especially creative in composition and presentation. The highlight was the service by Adam who was attentive and friendly without being intrusive and who provided us with appreciated guidance on the food and wine selections.
Exceptional evening. One of the loveliest experiences in DC-Georgetown. Regret we didn’t have time for desert, had tickets for Kennedy Center. The patè was perfection as were my husbands gnocchi. Thank you for making our Anniversary so special.
Great service, delicious food and wine, lovely ambiance. Only issue, chairs are uncomfortable and can only sit in banquet.
The weather was perfect and we ate outside. Very pleasant.
The food and service was exceptional! I had the duck confit and my husband had onion soup and steak frites. The onion soup was perfect. He loved his steak frites—a nice thick steak, probably a New York strip, not the usual hangar steak. My duck was fabulous, really crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with just the right amount of sauce. The potato accompaniment was also perfect, crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful inside. I normally don’t eat potatoes but couldn’t resist these.
We love the atmosphere and food and staff. One small blip for us was that we were asked to move to the bar after completing our dinner so the restaurant could seat another party. We arrived at 6:30pm and were asked (kindly) to leave our table at 8:45pm. This was disappointing. A restaurant of this quality and pricing range should allow for a leisurely dinner.
If a longer dining window is not doable, then A more acceptable approach would have been for the staff to offer to buy us a drink at the bar to free up the table.
One of my favorite restaurants in DC. Very romantic, excellent service. Good vegetarian options, both appetizers and main dishes. Great wine selection. The outdoor patio is really cute but the inside is cozy, light and bright, and very French. Highly recommended.
Truly an exceptional meal! Have the chicken liver mousse! This is a meal I would fly from the west coast, just to eat here again.
This was my first time eating at CBS for brunch. The food was excellent, but the portions were very small. I would have appreciated more side dishes to add to the mains.
I came here for brunch with my friend.
The outdoor table was lovely and the food was great also service was fantastic.
We had good time, we’ll definitely come back again.
Great service and excellent food.
Very fine restaurant, french cuisine at its best
We went for our "girls night out" on a Wednesday. We all loved our appetizers (I had bluefish rillette which was yummy), and dinners (my salmon was perfectly cooked, truly delicious). The one downside was the bar, which was very limited. We wanted to have after dinner drinks, Amaretto or something like it with our coffee which they did not have. We ended up ordering very expensive Port. It also would have been good if there was a chicken dish on the menu. Great experience though!
Chez Billy Sud hits all the right notes for anyone who appreciates traditional French food that's prepared and presented at a high level of execution without being fussy or precious. The dining room is comfortable and intimate and quiet enough to carry on a conversation at a normal volume (hurrah!!!). The service is attentive but unobtrusive. A great place.
Second time in 2 weeks & it does not disappoint! I could eat the Tuna Nicoise entree everyday.
Great evening out with dear friends! Had drinks across the alley before our fabulous dinner!
The menu is relatively limited and standard French but everything is excellently prepared. I had the steak frites and I couldn't stop eating the steak ir the Bernaise sauce. The restaurant is pretty, very French and intimate. The service is great. We were there for someone's birthday and I had meant to call before and tell the restaurant but forgot. I slipped in one reference to the "Birthday girl" and the waiter brought the dessert with a candle. I've been there for lunch as well and the menu is similar but lighter. It's great.
