CHEZ AMI RESTAURANT & LOUNGE - STEAKS, SEAFOOD, ITALIAN & BURGERS
Service was slow
After reading some negative reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about eating at the restaurant. I didn't need to feel apprehensive. The food was excellent, the service was great and you can't beat the ambiance. I would recommend this restaurant for any special occasion you may have.
The food, service, ambiance and noise level was fabulous. The only thing that I question was the value. The restaurant advertises free entree for your birthday. However we had a party of 5 and the 2 entrees with the lowest value were deducted. The birthday entrees were the higher of the 3.
I came for my and my godmothers birthday and our entrees were free. Were the terms changed?
Good food, delightful server. New menu and I had the salmon which was good. Added plus - a free birthday dinner. Would definitely go back.
Our server, Emma was very pleasant and knowledgeable.and patient with our questions and tastes.
The food was excellent ..loved the special chicken soup..
fish was cooked perfectly. Lovely rich bread pudding.
Amazing place to have your birthday gathering. I love the birthday promo as well. Thanks for having me and my friends.
Caesar salad was excellent, Brussel sprouts very good. Husbands filet was excellent. Bottle of Chardonnay very good but $40 was too much. Bread basket was excellent but $8.00 was too much (raise prices by .25 and include it). Loved our server.
Wonderful view from rooftop bar , comfortable upscale dinning atmosphere in restaurant, and Friendly service. Food is very good but drinks are weak and Very Expensive
We sat in the main dining room and we were with an elderly couple that had difficulty hearing us talk due to the overhead music...we were directly under the speaker :( other than that good food and service
Food was good and service was too. Took advantage of a birthday deal so the cost was quite reasonable. Hit the rooftop lounge after dinner for a drink with a view.
Great food, super friendly server. Beautiful place.
The scallop special was excellent. Plus our appetizer was exceptional too. Pork belly’s.
We will definitely go back.
Great service and atmosphere. It was my boyfriend's birthday and he loved it. A few tables were rather loud but so it goes.
Tasty, well plated food. and overall good service.
To begin with the place was beautiful and the waitress was nice; however, there were some issues. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it came out medium well, the mushroom risotto was nothing to write home about. When we ordered dessert the chocolate cake was supposed to come with a chocolate macaroon and they delivered it without it and then said they were out but didn’t offer to substitute a scoop of gelato or even tell us before they brought it out. It seems like the food would be hit or miss although the ambience was beautiful, once the place started filling up it was very difficult to hear someone across from you at your table.
If you do decide to go here I suggest you have an early reservation so you can actually hear the people at your table and I do not suggest ordering the filet mignon.
While we arrived 1/2 hour earlier at 5pm we still were seated right away. The waiter was very courteous and knowledgeable about all of the entree's which made our selection easier to choose. Our food arrived soon after we ordered it in a reasonable amount of time and was at just the right temperature. The Monk fish I had tasted like lobster just as Drew said it would and the melody of flavorful sides with it blended very well with this dish. My wife had the pan seared salmon which was done to perfection and very flakey. It was my wife's birthday a couple of days prior so we got the birthday deal ( buy one get one) which made the final cost including the bottle of wine and tip just under $100.00. We will definitely go back and try some of the other dishes because they too also sounded delicious.
The food was absolutely amazing! I'm looking forward to trying other dishes, drinks, and desserts.
Waiter was very nice and very accommodating. Everyone enjoy their food.
The food was very good, though a bit on the high side. I don't believe coffee should be $3.50 in ANy restaurant.
My wife and I came here for our anniversary expecting a premier dining experience and got nothing of the sort. My wife’s dinner was not even edible. She had the crusted chicken topped with arugula and I tried a piece and had to spit it out, it tasted like Lysol! My meal was ok I had the braised beef short rib. Our waitress wasn’t around much and didn’t even ask us how everything was even after seeing my wife barely ate any of hers. The cheesecake was good if it wasn’t for the 20 frozen strawberries they put on it. Service and food were both far below what we expected. Amazing hotel, terrible restaurant.
Walking into the Curtiss Hotel was quite impressive. We entered through the valet service which was quite nice. The renovations were outstanding. When we walked into the Chez Ami Restaurant we were greeted by the hostess (using the term “greeted” very loosely)...we didn’t get a smile, a hello or any type of welcome...Strike one. William, the waiter was quite amiable but seemed to disappear for a while. The restaurant was not busy, but William did seem to be alone...Ball one. We placed our orders and waited and waited and waited...Ball two. We all ordered salads (we were there for lunch), and 2 of the party asked for dressing on the side. Two of us ordered the salmon as an additional protein for the salad, and one person ordered her salmon rare. The 2 salads with the dressing on the side did come with a side of dressing, but they also came dressed...Strike two. The rare salmon was very dry and quite over cooked. It had to be sent back. When the dish came back, the salmon was rare as asked, but the salad was literally afloat in dressing, and this person had ordered her dressing on the side...it seemed as though the chef was taking revenge for sending the salad back...Strike three. For those keeping score that’s 2 balls and 3 strikes...STRIKEOUT. I won’t go back or recommend this restaurant to a friend.
The food was very good! Not a large selection though! Especially for those of us who are very fussy eaters. However, I ordered the Filet and it was delicious! My only complaint was, We ate in the atrium and it was very loud in there! Very hard to have a conversation in there! The staff was very pleasant.
What a gem! Located in a beautiful restaurant we enjoyed great food and service.
Good was delicious. Staff was very professional and efficient. Will go again.
Here's the deal. Lovely, lovely place. The decor is fabulous. Had a drink up on the rooftop, gorgeous. We were 6 friends celebrating 2 birthdays (one 9 days after our dinner, one 9 days before). There is a wonderful promotion going on where you will get a free entree if your birthday is within a week before or after you dine. We knew we were 2 days off both ways, but of course, asked anyways. Our waiter was sweet and he asked and came back saying the GM said we could not. Fine~ understandable. But what got me was that we were not offered a complimentary cocktail? Even one of our desserts? MInd you most of our food was delicious (one diner sent her dish back as it was dry) but otherwise, very yummy. The service was SLOW. We waited at least 15 minutes for our server to take our drink orders and I had to wait another 15 to even get my drink. So again, dessert on the house to make up for that and celebrate the birthdays and keep 6 women who like to dine out downtown happy, does not seem outlandish. Final kicker, when I mentioned this on the FB page- they reached out to me, not very nicely, stating that not many restaurants offer a free entree - hello- told you I understood that... but a restaurant that wants return customers would have done SOMETHING . So that is that. Also- charging $8 for a basket of breads is crazy. Most restaurants offer that at no charge. I will still click on that I recommend this place because it's lovely and most food is good- but I think they need to up their customer service game. Too many other choices in our beautiful city.
Our server was outstanding.
Lobster rolls and Flourless chocolate cake were wonderful.
Beautiful ambience as well.
Beautiful appearance, wonderful service, good food. Enjoyed celebrating my Birthday there.
Stay action for our anniversary. Would definitely recommend!!
Sunday brunch is the best!! Huge omelettes, fresh fruit, French tostados it die for and savory breakfast potatoes...don’t miss this brunch!!!
The food was amazing and the staff was nice however it took an hour to receive our food after we ordered.
We enjoyed parts of our evening - the table we sat at was right in front of the kitchen door. I had full view of the kitchen, as did one of our guests, every time the servers entered and exited the kitchen. Our server was average - especially considering the costs of the meal and our food was just ok. A summer salad with frozen berries is totally unacceptable at this time of year. We ordered a second bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay - none to be found in the entire restaurant. We were considering hosting a holiday party in the private room which is quite lovely, but this will not be happening based on our experience Friday evening.
Rude service personal. Empty restaurant and still had to wait for some attention. Food was great service not so much.
We love Chez Ami although, this experience was only mediocre. My salmon was over cooked and my wife’s pasta had a seasoning that neither of us liked.
Of course, the pasta seasoning is a matter of personal preference so, I guess I can’t hold that against them. There may be some that really loved it. Even so, she didn’t eat much of it so, we took it home to have as lunch the next day. It didn’t taste any better and we tossed it out.
The ambiance sucked and that was a first for us. Our table was so close to another couple that we felt we were eating dinner with them.
Service was excellent as always and we left our server a generous and well deserved tip.
We’ll be back to give it one more try but, with us, unlike in baseball, it’s only two strikes and you’re out.
Beautiful location, Inside looked amazing, Our waiter was okay i didnt see much of him! then another guy just came and took our plates didnt ask if we were done,it didnt matter if my plate looked as though i was done i think out of respect the question should of been asked Are you done? I had a problem with the bill but it was fixed by the manger overall it was new experience that i dont think i would do again
I took my Husband & Girlfriend who was celebrating her 70th Birthday to Chez Ami. We started out @ the revolving bar for drinks. The bar staff appeared confused and lost when it came to getting service and the correct drink. I asked for sparkling water which could not be had so I opted for club soda with lemon. My Husband requested a martini up with minimal vermouth which did not happen and my Girlfriend requested Tangueray and tonic and received Tangueray and FLAT tonic ! It was not until what appeared to be shift change that another bar staff noticed her glass pushed forward to request a new drink with fresh tonic. At that point it was her second T & T and was told they would be changing out the Tonic cask. Hurrah! she finally got a decent drink and we moved on to our table. Thank God our waitress was more organized and our dinner went well. We have been there before and the Bar area never seems to look or act Professional. We finished upstairs @ The Vue for an after dinner drink and the experience was totally different! Friendly and Professional.
App was great (calamari)
Risotto was awful
Steak and Asparagus were great
The meal was absolutely delicious. The waitress had a beautiful attitude very pleasant I will be going back
Excellent food. Our waitress Andrea was wonderful. We enjoyed our dinner and the service was wonderful! We will definitely be back!
This place was great we had brunch and the food was excellent. Our server was wonderful. She was friendly and funny and accommodating. She’s a definite asset. I think it’s a bit overpriced but the two for one mimosa makes up for it.
