CHEZ AMI RESTAURANT & LOUNGE - STEAKS, SEAFOOD, ITALIAN & BURGERS
First time for dinner and wasn't sure what to expect. Bruce, the maitre de, is as good as I've ever witnessed. Friendly, accommodating and attentive. Truly made us feel welcome within moments of arriving. The food and ambiance was very good. We were distracted by a rude table next to us, but all of the staff handled the situation perfectly and made sure all was well with other guests. Nicely done. We will be back.
Service was good. Ambience is great. Building is very interesting. Beautiful bar.
Food was adequate, but its taste did not match its price.
Food and service were very good. Had bibb salad, bread service, short ribs and bread & butter pudding for dessert and all very tasty. Tables for parties of two were too close together such that conversation on either side of the table interfered with our own conversation. I would go back and ask for better seating.
Everything was outstanding. Better than anticipated. The only hiccup was calling to make a reservation and being told there were only two available reservation times but when when I went online, I found multiple times including my original request which i was told wasn’t available. Maybe a glitch between website and restaurant software? Other than that, excellent experience. This may have been one of my favorite meals to date.
Food, service and ambiance was excellant .. relaxed ellegance
Enjoyed food. Young waiter was surprisingly excellent
We had the Staycation package deal with limited menu. All the food was decent, but very heavy. Would've been nicer to see a lighter type salad(besides Caesar-which was WAY too lemony) and maybe a vegetarian entree. They do have a very nice $15 wine bottle menu and the rotating bar is pretty cool. We waited over 45 minutes for our soup/salad while those around us who came later were served first. Will look forward to trying the restaurant again, as it did seem to perhaps just be an "off" night for the serving staff. The overall package deal was phenomenal, so it was tempting enough to try again for the regular menu another time.
We stayed at the Curtiss Hotel as part of the Staycation offer they had. The special menu was awesome and the portions were large. Our waiter was very attentive and even helped us pick the perfect wine for our meal.
While good I was a bit disappointed based on my last stay at this hotel about 18 months ago. It appears the ex.chef from that point opened his own restaurant in Tonawanda called Prescott’s Provisions, which is fabulous! This restaurant has lost some of its fresh authentic food. No pasta was available at lunch, bread was not the same and the salad was so/so. The special soup wAs delicious and the halibut po boy wonderful!
The service was great although the restaurant was quite empty.
The brunch menu is very limited, no salads, and not meat options for non pork/beef eaters. I would recommend turkey bacon or sausage and a salad that can be topped with grilled chicken or shrimp. Kataryzn was an awesome server, she had great recommendations, was very knowledgable and professional.
Food was good, but very overpriced for what you get and the service was well below par.
I have eaten here for lunch and dinner before with no issues. However this time I had a 6:30 reservation because we were going the theatre for an 8pm show. Our table was not ready until 7pm. At this point we just ordered food at the bar because we felt rushed. When we expressed our frustration to the host, he simply stated there was no issue with the system and he couldnt do anything about it.
The food and drinks at the bar were good.
Main Bar Room is always a fun place to enjoy time with friends. Not overly crowded each time we have been. Dinner was as expected and very good. Staff always pleasant and professional.
fabulous food and service, loved the valet parking.
Overall dinner was wonderful. Just not a fan of the seating arrangement of having all the couples lined up against the wall next to one another. Just not very private/intimate. Would request different seating next time.
The restaurant is beautiful and elegant. The staff are attentive. The food is tasty but not amazing. Priced too high.
The food and service was impeccable. The credit card machine and atms were offline and was glad I brought enough cash to cover a brunch for 5 otherwise my group would have been disappointed. This event was for my daughters birthday thank you for a delicious experience!
Had a fabulous experience! We celebrated my wife’s birthday. The food was awesome. Staff was responsive, attentive and knowledgeable.
The food was excellent, except for a few old lettuce leaves in the pear salad. The service was okay. The waiter assumed we were ordering the “Dinner for Two”, but we were not. He did not mention any specials, but the waitress at the table next to us told their table about the specials. It took a while to get drinks and he did not bring a steak knife to the table. Also, after dinner he brought the bill to the table without asking about coffee or desert. We ordered coffee.
So the food was very good to excellent, but the service should be better at a restaurant like this.
We had a wonderful dinner this past weekend! Service and food was amazing. Our seat was close to the kitchen so it was a bit noisy - but not too bad!
Never disappointed when I go for lunch, and always a hit with my guests also.
It was wonderful! Had a cocktail at the Revolving Bar, then dinner. The Filet Mignon was outstanding! Cooked to perfection and was extremely tender. The broccolini was very tasty that we ordered as a side. Our salad and appetizers clams casino were a great start. Loved our evening! The ambiance made for a very relaxing evening!
Very good food and service. Will definitely come back
Wildly overpriced with incredibly poor service. There are thousands of places to dine in Buffalo, don’t feel the need to waste money here. At 6:45 on a Saturday night the tonic was out at the bar. I had to point this out and ask for a new drink, this took at least 25 minutes. Waters were never refilled, specials were not offered by the waiter. Yes, food was good, but not for the over inflated prices. Look elsewhere, Buffalo, you deserve it!
Appetizers were amazing. The main course was ok but over cooked. Desert was a disaster. Ordered cheesecake and it was frozen and the crust was stale. The service was poor. Typical melenial that doesn’t understand quality service is what draws customers back. Even if the food is mediocre
Service was top notch! Our host was so polite and complemented us, our waitress was also personable with checking in with us at the right time. I will say it was a but dirty tho. Stepped on food in the middle of the walk way, between tables. No hand soap in the bathroom. Also the people who sat at our table before us must have gotten chocolate all over the chair, which got on my $300 hand bag and my $100 pair of Jean's. I did not even have chocolate, I had the omelet. I also did not notice till leaving, my friend ask me what was on my pants and I look at the bottom of my purse and noticed it on there. That was upsetting that I had to carefully clean my leather bag. Hoping it comes out of my jeans. Will come back in summer time and will check my seat next time!
Excellent food ! Great atmosphere and service. Resturant was upscale but reasonable. Brunch for 4 under $75 great place will
Come again !!
A little pricey for dinner considering no salad or bread is included but entree was delicious! A deal with the free birthday dinner!! Ambiance is excellent!!
Nice restaurant, food was delicious although the desserts tasted like they had been unwrapped in the cooler for awhile, the creme brûlée tasted like i licked a dusty heat vent, and the cheesecake was stale with a very artificial tasting fruit topping, the entrees were absolutely fabulous though and the lobster bisque was the best I’ve ever had
Overall great sometimes unique food.. just bar tenders on roof not all as experienced the ones at lobby bar. Highly recommend for dinner or a visit at the hotel!
Took my wife here for her 40th birthday. It was the first time I had been to Chez Ami and I guarantee it won’t be the last!! The service and food was outstanding! Buffalo has many outstanding restaurants these days but in my personal opinion Chez Ami is one of the best ones around!
Steak was over cooked, we never offered any bread, waitress never checked on us, we had to flag people down to get service, and wine was sour. When we asked someone about ordering bread (not our waitress), they said, we'll its an $8 additional charge. The waitress did come to check on us once we flagged someone down to order the bread and we said the food was "horrible" and she laughed and walked away.
It was a horrible experience for the price!
Had reservations through the app. Arrived on time and was told it would be another 20 minutes because they were “behind “. The place was empty. Was promised a call to my room when my table was available which never happened. Upon my arrival back down a table magically appeared. Horrible experience with the hotel and the restaurant.
I rarely if ever complain about a meal. I realize the time and work that goes into preparing a meal. With that being said the best part of this meal was the wonderful man Bruce who showed us to our table. After that it was all downhill. From a improperly made cocktail, to slow service, to terribly assembled dishes. I had a halibut dinner usually beautiful white flakey fish, but not here. The fish was severely over cooked and the plate was disjointed and simply embarrassing. When the best part of the meal is the walk in you’re in for a bad night. It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful building and you have a city full of great servers and chefs. Thanks but no thanks I will pass on a return to CHEZ Ami.
Worst meal ever. I ordered bone in rib eye. There was no bone. I sent it back and five minutes later the waitress threw it on the table and told me there was a bone. The “bone” was one inch. I tried to eat the steak and every bite had bone chips in it. I refused to pay for it. The waitress was rude. The owner told me I was an idiot. Never had such a horrible meal. The drinks were $13 each. We will never go back
Our visit to Chez Ami was one of hesitation. We had heard so many negative reviews but really wanted to try it out because of the atmosphere and location. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted and sat In the main dining room but we had requested the patio so we asked to be reseated in the patio. The hostess said “while it can be requested, it’s not guaranteed”...but continued to seat us on the patio. Strike one. Our server came and took our drink order, no issue but limited selection of wine. Upon delivery of the drinks she asked if we had any questions...we asked if there were specials? She said said no...not 30 seconds later we over heard another server describing the specials for the night...wtf!!! When our server returned to take our order she apologized and said there was in fact specials and described them like a 12 year old trying to remember the ingredients. We placed our order and our apps came out...salad must have been sitting in a bowl from a previous order because it was very wilted and lacked acid. The dressing was very bland. The roasted cauliflower salad while very good still needed the cauliflower to be cooked fully. Our entrees were good, and flavorful but there was a lack of complexity. The salmon was delicious but beets and purées just don’t complete a dish. The pork was outstanding but they must have put 8 oz of smoked pork belly on top...no issue for me there! It was delicious. The atmosphere was awkward, hard tables, entry level servers, non speaking back waiters, just poor for what and who owns the Curtis. We opted out of dessert as we wanted to go elsewhere for the remainder of our evening so we got the check. The server took my card and walked to the left of me and then several minutes later walked to the right of me. I was presented with the check and signed and left. As I was leaving I looked at my phone where where I noticed they had charged me for someone else’s check as well... THINK TWICE IF YOU WANT TO GO SOMEWHERE NICE!
Brought a friend here for her first time to show her around this beautiful property. We both ordered salads - they were huge! Very fresh & delicious. My Cobb had crisp bacon and lots of chicken. Her Caesar with shrimp was “ the best ever”! Will definitely be back for dinner and drinks up on the rooftop next time!
We ate there on Christmas Eve, so yes I expected the menu to be more limited, but I still expected a higher level of selection and quality from this establishment. I ordered the turkey dinner, two others ordered the salmon and the last two the chicken. All meals were described to just be average. As one diner commented there wasn't even a pasta selection. I have now ate here twice and have to say that where I may go back in the future, there are many other places to eat in downtown Buffalo that I would either go back or try new before going back here.
Limited menu expected for Christmas Eve; salmon was delicious as were the sides, loved the strawberry salad, both were a generous size; server was super cheerful which was nice considering he had to work on Christmas Eve. Had a wonderful time and even more at the bar afterward.
