We like Chewie's. Their oysters are great and how can you miss out on happy hour? But, oh my, the noise. Not a place to linger, unfortunately.

We went for "happy hour" - which is only 1 hour (5 to 6pm). No drink specials during this time. Half price appies & buck a shuck. Food was good. Waiter was a bit complacecent but the rest of the staff was very friendly. I noticed that there menu hasn't been changed since they've been opened. This makes it a bit boring for returning customers like me.

I came for the fried chicken and waffles, which I heard was really good. I'd say it was a solid version at Chewies. I'd come back to try a few other options on the menu, especially the seafood items. I enjoyed the place and can't complain.

The southern fried chicken and waffles was delicious! It had the perfect seasoned crunch around the juicy chicken. The mushroom eggs benny was cooked perfectly topped with a beautiful hollandaise sauce that had the right consistency, flavour and tang. Service was good. The team worked well together. Overall a great experience at Chewies!

This was our first time at Chewies. We had heard from several friends that it was a great place to go for dinner. We weren't disappointed. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. We'll be back next time we're in Vancouver.

Chewies is one of my favourite go-to places for dinner. The atmosphere in the restaurant is always energetic and fun, the food is delicious, and the service is always top notch. Our normal go-to meal is the Southern Fried Chicken - a must try if you haven't yet. This particular trip, we decided to try some of their new menu items, and they were just as delicious as everything else on the menu. We had the fried oyster po boy and the fried shrimp po boy, and we were not disappointed.

If you haven't yet been to Chewies, you must check them out!

This place was recommended by a friend so I guess I got my bar way up. The place is nice. It is loud tho. Food was good, nothing special. I'd go back for comfort and to hang. But not something I would crave for.

4 of us dined outside and went family-style on 5 dishes and white wine. The oysters, ling cod, jambayala, mussels and fries and kale salad were just great. This is a great neighborhood restaurant giving any visitor a good feel for Kits Beach and good old Vancouver hospitality. Server was great. We'll be back for sure.

Oyster selection during happy hour was alright. We got an Oyster Po'Boy which was good, but only 4 oysters on it. Missed opportunity for a $16 sandwich. Overall the food was good, but there may be other places with a bit better bang for buck shucks.

Pleasantly surprised when they told us it was 1/2 price wine night. The bottle we bought was the same price as at the liquor store! Great New Orleans style menu. Shrimp and grits was awesome. Great time on the nice patio.

Food was great. We went on a Sunday night so it was not packed at all. Recommending their oysters and mussels - fresh and nicely done. However, I would prefer to come for happy hour instead of dinner as they don't have many choices in their entree menu.

My wife and i love the food at Chewies and are monthly regulars for Sunday afternoon buck-a-shucks. Unfortunately, by the time we arrive (5:40 pm) we were told that the $1 beach oysters were sold out but that $2 premium oysters were available. We ordered a dozen and our food at the same time. We considered walking out during our meal because the oysters arrived and were consumed by 6, but our meals did not get delivered until 6:35! Apologies were offered and our desserts were comped, but the wait was much much too long. We'll seriously consider whether we go back, despite our love of oysters and Chewies' menu.

I came here with my gfs for Saturday brunch after their spa service to celebrate their birthday as I've heard that their food was good. Our initial server was really nice and had great energy. The food was decent (although I found my chicken was a tad on the greasy side) and were enjoying our day catching up as we do not often have the opportunity to. Upon finishing our food, a different server came over and set the bill on the table without us asking for it and started to clear the plates (mind you, it was not busy and no one was waiting at the entrance). The server did not even ask if we wanted anything else before that. I then asked the server if he could bring 3 forks as I had brought mini birthday cakes. He gave me a look and was confused. I then advised that I brought cake for us and then a light bulb went off in his head but he did not seem impressed. Once we were done the dessert, the server was helping the table next to us. I waited patiently and as I thought he was done and he looked over and made eye contact, I politely asked for the terminal. He gave me a stare down and with attitude said yeah...in a sec. I don't know what made him assume that I wanted it asap as that was not my intent and just wanted to let him know I was ready to pay the bill. He then made a remark that we could not hear to the table he was assisting and the patrons laughed. I thought this was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. When he came over with the terminal, he just took my card and handed it to me without saying a word. As I was paying, I took cash out to tip. When he walked away, he turned around and said "AWESOME". I guess he thought I was not going to tip. The time between that till we left, he kept glaring at our table and shook his head. As we started to leave, he came over to clean up the table and was being so sarcastic saying thank you for coming and hope we enjoyed the service. I ended up giving the tip to our original server and advised him the reason

We really enjoyed the happy hour oysters. Our main courses were excellent too - The fried chicken was tender, crispy and not at all greasy. And the oyster po' boy was very tasty. Service was friendly, prompt.

Overall we had a great time and the food was excellent. I had the Southern Fried Chicken, which was some of the best I've ever had and my wife had the Jambalaya. It was also good but she said that next time she would order the Fried Chicken.

The service was also great but we did have one major problem at the beginning. We were initially seated at a high top table right next to the door and would have had a blast of cold air very time the door opened, despite having a reservation. At first they told us that they pre-assign specific tables to specific reservations and that they do not reassign tables so we would have to sit there or wait as if we were walk-in if we wanted a different table. They told us that the other tables further inside the restaurant were reserved for other parties. When we were about to leave and find somewhere else for dinner, they changed their mind and sat us in a great spot near the window further inside the restaurant. After that, everything was excellent. All I can say is that if you want to go here, make sure that you specifically request a table "upstairs" (the restaurant is split level) to avoid our situation.

I had been a few years ago and bought gift cards for xmas for my family.

Been a while since I've been back but the food was to remember.

I remembered it being a little loud, and this time I was dining with a co-worker so I requested a quiet table and they were able to accommodate.

Food was timely quality was great, we both loved the dineout options.

Thanks Chewies!

We tried the restaurant during Dine Out. Our table was against the back wall and we where nearly forgotten. Its not that the service wasn't good, it was next to non-existent. We where 35 minutes between appetizer and mains. The smoked chowder tasted only of smoke. Overpowering smoke. The Fried Chicken had a very tasty crust and was moist and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the chicken was also nearly devoid of any taste. We waited so long for desert we finally asked for them in take-a-way containers. When we got home, the deserts turned out the same... disappointing.
The vibe is good, the location is too. The decor and music all gave hint to a very cool hip place...
then the food arrived.
