Absolutely wonderful Sunday brunch. We had a crabcake appetizer and two different eggs Benedict dishes. The waiter told us about an oyster Benedict that wasn't on the menu so we had that and the tenderloin one. Steak was perfectly cooked. Perfect bread combo. I brought an old friend from our of state. She was extremely impressed. We thought price was very reasonable.
Best of the two Chesapeake Restaurants in Knoxville, Tennessee. The food is absolutely delicious. The nautical and seashore ambiance is most comfortable and pleasant. Stacy is a superb waitress. Her cheerful attitude, helpful nature and attention to making our dining experience first class. The location is very accessible with plenty of parking.
Our next special celebration will surely be at Chesapeake's Downtown Knoxville.
Daughter visiting from Charlottesville, VA with new friend from London.
Really enjoyed ourselves.
Vibe was old school seafood restaurant. Server was quick, funny, and knowledgeable. Had the crab cake dinner (2) with broccoli and loaded baked potato. Crab cakes were tasty but not overly large. Asked for broccoli without butter and potato was salted, just the way I like it. Not too pricey but not cheap either. Would recommend if you want to get away from the traditional southern-fried restaurants you find in the area. One negative: although I made a reservation through OpenTable and mentioned my reservation when we checked in, I arrived home to an e-mail stating "we're sorry we missed you at Chesapeake's". Had to send an e-mail to correct the situation.
Food exceeded expectations! My husband said his steak was probably the best cut of meat he’s ever had at a restaurant and cooked perfectly. Snickers cheesecake was delicious!
Service was good. Food was mediocre. Crab on the seafood salad wasn’t good quality. Bisque was salty. Saltines serves with oysters were almost stale.
Friends had given Chesapeake’s hi marks so we decided to take some out of town friends to check it out. Result: Great food...Great service (Thank You Boomer)....Great value!!!
Excellent food and service.
Service was exceptional. The Crab Imperial,, Shrimp Chesapeake, Spinach Maria, Neva’s Potatoes and Crab Claws we delicious as always. The Crab Stuffed Mushrooms tasted like they were frozen and heated in a microwave, very rubbery. The Shrimp Cocktail was very bland.
We started the evening sitting on the patio where a duet was playing live music, very nice! it was unseasonably hot and they had a nice fan blowing to keep it comfortable. We started off with a round of cocktails which we thought we were never gonna get, at least 20min. A manager then came out and delivered our drinks and apologized for the wait and stated this round was on the house, which was very nice! We ordered apps and entrees and everything was out of this world great, fresh, and on time! Shout out to the management team for correcting what could've been a bad experience, Great Job!
Great meal , excellent service fine cocktails. Only negative kitchen ran out of Halibut , the swordfish we substituted wss great.
Can't wait to go again.
Food was fabulous but service was slow. The waiter at the next table bumped my friend three times.
Just OK. Most of my raw Oysters were not fresh and were presented poorly on a cheap old appearing tray. Grouper was old also not fresh or of poor quality, hard to tell. Maine lobster was also tough. On the bright side cost less than found in many restaurants I guess they have a strategy to appeal to cost and sacrifice quality
As always, the food was outstanding, fresh, flavorful and inspired. On the other hand, the service seemed to be ruled by a measure of complete confusion. We were seated for outdoor dining. We remained thirsty throughout the meal and were rationing our tea and water. An expeditor kept returning to the outdoor seating asking every patron if the food she was carrying belonged to them. She became frustrated when some people didn’t have a ready answer, When she passed our table with our food, she ignored our statements about it being ours and was returning to the kitchen with it. Our waiter ran back and forth inefficiently, and forgot requests multiple times (why didn’t he write it down?) It wasn’t unique to one or two people. A lady at the next table with a different waitperson asked for straws three times and finally got them an hour later, after paying their bill, including market price for 1.5 lbs of lobster, in addition to bar drinks and other premium dishes. Guess it’s just a sign of the service you get in a good economy. Regardless, I’ll think twice about this venue next time.
Our server was very personable and enthusiastic about the quality of the food served in the restaurant. We had the oyster appetizer which was good. Our crabmeat entree was very good; however, the fisherman’s platter was poor. Most of the fish on the platter tasted old. The restaurant was highly recommended to us, so all that I can deduce is that it was an off night for them.
Wonderful birthday dinner. The salads, entrees and desserts were outstanding.
It was my sons birthday and the server didn't do anything even that it was mention on the reservation. He also order tea and she forgot. But we will be back. Good food. Host was friendly.
We have been several times. Service was great! The crab cake, calamari, and crab bisque were delicious. The scallops and the shrimp were so-so. We will try something different for our main course next time.
Definitely a fave! The staff is great! One of our faves when we are in town!
Love Chesapeake’s downtown...a typical upscale seafood restaurant with pleasant surroundings & a fairly quiet setting. We enjoyed crab cakes, steamed shrimp, braised spinach, & Neva’s potatoes. Their fish is always fresh...great cheddar cheese salad dressing...menu similar to items you’d find in Chesapeake Bay, MD. All the Copper Cellar family of restaurants are very consistent...probably eat at one of them 2-3 times a month.
just a great brunch in a very nice place .. the service was great as well as the food
Got the fried seafood platter and the fish which they said was cod, was not very good. Have dines there several times through the years, but we were really disappointed this time.
My fiance and I had our anniversary dinner here, and this was our first visit ever with the establishment. When we walked it, I could already tell that the ambiance was going to be enjoyable, and we received excellent customer service from the get-go! All the food we ordered was brought out quickly and was delicious!
Date night with one of my sons
The sword fish dish was excellent. The salmon fish dish was not tasting fresh. The appetizers of grilled prawn and salad were very good and fresh. The restaurant has ample parking. The am ambience is relaxing.
Great value and really good food, nice wines and cocktails
Very pleasant atmosphere
Great food, wonderful choices. The service was great was friendly. Atmosphere was delightful.
This is a must do for our family when we are visiting UTK and downtown Knoxville. The food is consistently excellent and the service is always great. It is an older restaurant, so if your looking for glitz and glamour this is not it! But if your looking for consistently great food and a wonderful dinning experience with your family, This is it! Seafood is wonderful! Steaks are always perfect. Dine and Enjoy!
Didn't like the Maryland steamed shrimp I ordered but every thing else was good. Whiskey pours we ordered were way undersized for the price. Bartenders at the west location pour much better drinks
My wife and I loved to travel to Knoxville for a romantic weekend and dinner at Chesapeake’s downtown is always one of the highlights. The food is excellent which is only eclipsed by the superior service each and every time!
As always, our time at Chesapeake's Downtown was impeccable - delicious food, delightful service and a very productive working lunch!
Our waitress, Irena, was absolutely amazing. So attentive. Offered great food suggestions. And checked on us often.
Happy fried seafood platter cooked perfectly however there was no flavor at all very Bland. I had the live lobster 1 and 3/4 lb the lobster was undercooked and you could tell it was not salted in the water because meat stuck to the inside of the lobster. Our waitress was unpleasant although she was attentive she was extremely rushy. Manager asked if everything was okay we told her the issues on the food and all she said was if I can do anything just let me know * 3 and when I mentioned the tasteless fried platter she said we are in Tennessee you know! I had called ahead to let them know that it was a birthday dinner. The birthday person and I both were extremely disappointed for we've heard numerous good things about Chesapeake's and they're fine dinners only to find out different was exceptionally disappointing especially for the money.
Great food and service. Ask for Boomer. He was outstanding!
Boomer was superb server. The lobster was not hot but mistakes happen.
Food was Great, Service Terrible which ruined the experience.
Good food, service a bit slow.
The food, service and overall atmosphere of Chesapeake‘s was excellent! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a fine dining experience.
Food and service was great for the value! Bettina was amazing and made us feel extremely welcome. We will be back next time we are in Knoxville!
