Where better, and what better day (June 19) could I have chosen for a wife's birthday lunch here at the Cherwell Boathouse. The sun was beating dow, atop our canopy - we sort of ate outside - and the near view over the River Cherwell, with punting young folk, was near idyllic. The food was better than I thought it would be. I have eaten lunch here on four occasions, but this most recent visit was unquestioanbly the finest lunch the Cherwell Boathouse has served me. The wine selection was impressive too. But perhaps best of all - and that takes some topping - was the warm and friendly service we received. The three young members of staff made us feel as if we were in their houses, not at their place of employment. I would go out of my way to recommened lunch at the Cherwell Boathouse and I hope to have many more in the future. LM.

Lovely meal. We all had roast dinners, beef, lamb and fish. Plus desserts. All were very tasty.

Food good to excellent. Brilliant, prompt and friendly service despite being very busy in all their dining & party areas on a Friday evening.

Lovely location but very disappointing food. Fish overcooked, seared lettuce didn't work and even the chips were a bit flabby. Service was good but slightly intrusive. We would not return.

Another lovely meal at the Cherwell boathouse. Great food, great service and fantastic atmosphere. We had a lovely evening and the setting is wonderful.

Nice anniversary meal celebration. The team were very accommodating and were very helpful with the cake. Special thanks to the manager (sorry I didn’t catch the name) and the lady for excellent service and to Grant for taking a lovely photograph. Food was nice a Sunday roast and portion size was perfect.

We had a lovely table on the terrace. Staff were very friendly and polite. Food was great. Old friends meeting up. We all enjoyed the food. Excellent Sunday roast.
