The appetizers were good but food was very inconsistent. None of us finished our meals.
Beautiful space completely spoiled by the ridiculously loud music. It’s connected to the bar with the same dance club type music blaring. The food was beautiful but mostly very average in flavor. Rather disappointing overall.
Excellent service and fantastic food! Local and very unique to Washington DC with a fired wood pizza oven and a 15 feet wood burning grill. And their cherry pie tastes so good! Would certainly come back again!
Thank you for joining us! We hope to host you again soon! Best, Cherry Management Team
Relaxing setting and delicious food! Service was excellent.

Excellent octopus. Great drink selection
Lots of cheesy and fried items. Great view. Unenthusiastic staff, food mediocre and high prices. We didn’t drink. Probably a better bar stop since it has great views.
Very limited menu - Service was underwhelming
I went to the bentzen ball brunch. I showed up at 11:55, walked up to the hostess stand and they asked us to wait the 5 minutes until noon. At noon, there was a line we proceeded to wait in to be seated. I'm not sure of the purpose of making us wait an additional 5 minutes
Thoroughly enjoyed our service was outstanding and so personable! M food came out a little quicker than we would have preferred but did not dapper the day!
First class all the way!!
Delicious food and excellent service. Would recommend going here.
Food was very fresh and tasty!!!
Great staff. Food was a great value for the money. Excellent service.
Read about this in DC Eater article and it looked promising. Never was a fan of the W, but hearing that they spent $50MM on a major upgrade made me curious. Menu looked awesome and creative, but the noise level was ridiculously club-like loud, and the place was basically empty at 7:00 on a Thursday, which was a troubling sign.
Grilled avocado was great. Grilled octopus was rubbery with a weird sauce and strange tasting red peppers - or something red. Wine was OK once we got new glasses that didn’t reek of charcoal smoke. Big oven creates smoke that permeates the place - which is justified if the food is awesome, like at Maidan. This place is not anywhere near that category. Pork chop was WAY over cooked and dry, shrimp was tasteless but edible, unlike the mushrooms which I almost gagged on. Tasted like a sponge that was saturated in Mr. Clean. So did the fish, unfortunately.
Hard to believe that $50MM redo somehow resulted in such a crappy anchor restaurant. This should have been a top priority.
VERY loud. Feels clubish with the hotel lobby music volume at full blast.
Limited but tasteful selection of food. Service is below expectation. Nice ambiance for a sate night but if you are looking for a good meal AND a pretty venue, I would head to Farmers Fishers Bakes or somewhere else...
Food menu was limited and not sophisticated. Waiter was not attentive, mixed up our order, and gave us the wrong check. Very disappointed.
True to the W brand, the restaurant was in the lobby and on the weekends it becomes an energetic place for people and drinks. We were a party of six people and the place was fully occupied by 8 PM. Service and food were a pleasant surprise. Speed and quality were outstanding. The Tuna Crudo, smoked octopus appetizer and Filet entree were the highlights in my opinion. Disclaimer that it is loud for normal conversation although we enjoyed it thoroughly.
A lot of kinks to work out. Wine menu minimal.
The food was good although for the price it's overpriced. What was the point of saying this was a special occasion since no one recognized it??!!
Nothing to write home about
I had an anniversary dinner here (on Saturday, September 7th) and the experience started off good. The hostess was pleasant and welcoming and our 2 person seat by the window was nice. Our Server (an older Hispanic guy) came over right away and he was also very welcoming and nice. First, thing I noticed how high priced the drinks were and how very, very limited the food menu was. I paid $17 for a rum old fashioned. It was tasty, but most certainly wasn't worth that price. It took us 30 minutes to receive our food. I had to send my order back because the Chef didn't follow my very simple instructions on how to cook my steak. I then had to wait another 40 minutes for my food to come back out. My date had finished her food 30 minutes before I ever got my food and even when it finally came out, it was lackluster. Our Server was apologetic but even he couldn't salvage which was one of the worst dining experienced I've EVER had in DC ( I was born and raised here and have been living here my whole life of 35 years). Loud restaurant, limited menu, horrible food service and high prices made this a HORRIBLE experience for my date and I. ☹️
Very nice date night spot with good street views and wood fried entrees. The chicken was delicious. Service was good. We enjoyed!
The drinks and apps were good. The entres were very mediocre. And everyone at our table of 7 felt the same way. For a flagship restaurant in a high end hotel, I was not impressed.
This place is glorified hotel lobby restaurant food and is not good (sux)
Good wine dessert okay pizza and good apps. Kind of soggy pizza
Hello LMo9! Thank you for your review! We are sorry that the pizza was not to your liking. We hope that you will join us again, we're sure that your second time will be better :) Hope to see you soon!
The W hotel is a cool atmosphere and was excited for dinner but the food was average and expensive for the quality. The tuna crudo was in a coconut broth that completely over powered the fish and tasted like a can of coconut milk. The roasted chicken was a very good flavor but was hot on outside and cold in the middle like it was just reheated. The shrimp entree was so salty I couldn’t eat it as it had big capers and olives in the sauce. My green salad had roasted tomato Jam which was weirdly sweet in a salad. The best bite was the grilled octopus which was very tender. The specialty cocktails on the menu were great too. My server was very nice but we ordered drinks that sat at the bar so the second time my husband just went and got them. The service was broken up between multiple people who were not totally in sync. My daughter whose in her twenties said the food was ok but not worth the price. Disappointed as I totally wanted to like it. It was average expensive hotel food.
It was very good. Modern in design and the food was fantastic. Would come here again.
Hello AriD! Thank you for this amazing review! We can't wait to host you again! Best, Cherry Management Team
Incredible experience! I had visited another RW offering earlier in the week that was super disappointing and this dinner (our anniversary!) was a perfect way to finish out the week. The entire service staff was incredible, kind, attentive, and friendly. At one point we asked for a box to take home the rest of a dish and a server came by to grab it, but I guess there was a miscommunication and he took the plate away. The floor manager sent us home with a full new one! Offering the entire menu for restaurant week is such a generous gesture for a restaurant and really respects the intention and purpose of restaurant week. Bravo!
The customer service and ambiance was beautiful but the food left much to be desired
Went to Cherry for restaurant week and wasn’t impressed. Yes, we were late and the kitchen was closing in 25min- server was obviously bothered which I get but it’s a new place I would think they would let it slide for a Saturday night. The drinks were awful, so strong and clearly trying to be so different that both me and my friend couldn’t drink ours. I had the rockfish- it was okay- not much seasoning, the fish was well cooked but the lack of flavor made me feel I could have made myself at home easily. My hazelnut dessert was great, my tuna app was very interesting, I enjoyed that lots of different flavors. I like the decor and the renovation but for as much hype as this place has gotten the food should be more flavorful.
I enjoyed my octopus and rockfish. My friend enjoyed her carrot cake. Drinks were on the pricey side.
I went to Cherry during DC Restaurant Week. I'm certainly glad I didn't pay full price. The concept was good, but execution was poor.
Apps: 1. Fire Roasted Olives & Feta - They forgot the feta! We got a bowl of olives with bread, which was actually pizza crust, and very good. 2. Cold Corn Soup - Pleasantly surprised
Entrees: 1. Filet with Potatoes - Filet was tender, but the accommpanying spinach was dry and overly smoked. 2. Pork Loin - the entire dish was warm, not hot, but the flavors were great. Favorite dish of the night.
Dessert: 1. Roasted Peach with Ice Cream - the peach was not roasted; it was raw and cold. The ice cream was absolutely flavorless. It was weird. This was the most disappointing dish of the night. 2. Carrot Cake - the cake it's self was excellent; moist and flavorful. The side carrots were cooked carrots, which was an odd choice for a dessert
Service: Our waitress had no personality. She didn't smile; there was no inflection in her voice. She checked on us before we even had a bite of our app, and then didn't come back until we were halfway through our entree. She's didn't know how to repsond when we told her about the missing feta. You could tell she was new, and not comfortable.
I went for Restaurant Week and ordered the avocado appetizer, rockfish entree and "hazelnut joy" dessert. The waitress recommended the avocado and rockfish, but I didn't find anything special about either. They were just ok. I love hazelnut, and I found the dessert outstanding...a scoop of hazelnut ice cream, a generous piece of hazelnut torte and hazelnut cream. Sheer divinity. We had late dinner reservations and really didn't begin dining until after 9pm. What really spoiled the atmosphere is when the bright lights were turned up around 10:30pm. We complained to the waitress, who mentioned something about the night staff coming in to clean up. In general, I would not recommend Cherry, but I'm doing so here only because it's worth the trip if you just have the hazelnut dessert.
Tasting menu restaurant week was fabulous and didn’t feel mass produced or poorly prepared. Hazelnut dessert was one of my favorite desserts I’ve ever had. Will be back!
Restaurant week was great
Awesome grilled octopus
The space is beautiful and the service was great; however, the entrees lacked flavor. My friends and I went during restaurant week which may be partly to blame since many restaurants experience more traffic and have to produce food more quickly to meet demand.
