Saturday Prime Rib and Seafood Special
We booked this restaurant, first time going here, for our meal before attending a concert at the Xcel Center in St Paul. Staff was polite and attentive. Food was fabulous! We’ll be back!!
We were sat in a back room of sorts that was chilly and had poor lighting (more like iridescent vibes). The tables were definitely similar to folding tables with a black table cloth thrown over them. Due to the temperature of the room the food got cold rather quickly. We were confused as to why we were sat in the back “makeshift” room when there were tables and booths available up front in the main space. Our server was very attentive and friendly.
Cocktails were amazing and dinner was excellent as always.
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW THE LOADED BAKED POTATO WAS A $1.50 EXTRA WHEN ORDERING. I DID NOT KNOW THIS UNTIL THE BILL CAME. THE PRIME RIB HAD AN AWFUL LOT OF FAT, BUT WAS VERY GOOD AND PERFECTLY PREPARED. THE ENDS OF THE GREEN BEANS COULD HAVE BEEN CUT OFF.
Food was great. Waitress was attentive. Didn't feel rushed. Free birthday steak was awesome.
Went to see friend’s band play. Ended up having a great meal and a great evening.
I would recommend for watching a band or drinking. I wouldn’t recommend dining there. The signature appetizer dish VooDoo shrimp was quite sad. The shrimp was rubbery and bacon was warm but raw. Gross! Ordered a burger after seeing the appetizer. How can a burger come out partially raw? Gross again!! Our server was awesome. The problem was cook staff.
It was average food for an above average price. Vents blowing cold air on a sub zero evening. Staff did attempt to resolve the cold air problem, but it returned shortly after.
Our waitress was very, very good: prompt, attentive & informative. We had prime rib. I was a little disappointed because the meat was tough. Otherwise the drinks and food tasted great.
Website has different pricing and policies than in person. Beware the bait and switch. Unfortunately doesn’t hold a candle to the past owner’s Cherokee Tavern. Wish I could recommend, however it is not worthy.
Had the ribs and filet Mignon which were both excellent. Filet was done as I ordered.
The augraten potatoes were nice cheesy.
Even though our Server, Becca, was brand new, she did a great job of finding answers to our questions. She was super friendly and checked back with us frequently. The Walleye was great as was my husbands Mediterranean Wrap and our daughters burger-she's GF so she ordered it without the bun with a side of ranch dressing. The restaurant has an old timey supper club atmosphere and a bar area to watch your favorite sports. Wine was great and very reasonably priced. Thank you and we will return!
Very nice. Server was friendly and efficient. Food was good! Will go back again.
Great dinner and service was wonderful. We will be back
Not as good as I remembered. Maybe it was an off night?
The food was good, but the service was terrible. The waitress was non existent. The bus boy and hostess were great. We will try again and hopefully have better service.
The food is generally dependable. The service not so much. We got our dinner and had to then ask for bread and salad. Had to wait for our bill as there was no staff in the dining area for about a half hour. It's our neighborhood steak place so I hope they can improve the service. We were there on a Wednesday night and business was very slow.
horrible, bad food, bad service, cold. would not go back
Attentive wait staff and management. Addressed our allergy needs carefully (celiac).
When I placed the reservation for New Years Eve my concern was the Menu. Past experience dictates some restaurants have "Special" Menus, some not so. I called to verify about this. Whom ever I talked to, stated they would be using their normal menu. There is another couple involved, and we rotate each year selecting our New Years Eve restaurant. I called them to state the location, and that we would be ordering off their normal menu. Two weeks before New Years I looked on their web site just to be sure nothing had changed, still showed their normal menu and nothing about New Years. Two nights before New Years still no changes. Got to the restaurant and sure enough, a special menu for New Years. Apologized to our guests and stated I tried, but the web site showed the standard menu.
Parking has always been a problem at the Cherokee with the previous owners as well as the new owners. We parked across the street, kitty corner, and notice spots reserved for their Catering Trucks and their bus, but it appeared more reserved spaces then necessary. Two trucks and a bus, 4 spaces?
One of our guest ordered a gin and tonic. The drink came a little strong to her liking so asked for some additional tonic to "thin it out" When the waitress brought the extra tonic, it looked discolored to me so told her I wanted to taste it. Sure enough it was sour. I brought the glass to the bar personally, and told the bar keep this was suppose to be tonic and not sour, he explained he had told the waitress "the gun" was labeled wrong and that the "T" was actually sour and to use "(I don't know what he said)" but gave me the correct Tonic
Our food was terrible, no ones steak were cooked correctly, the potatoes were terrible, and we have always loved them.
Our server was terrible, and it over an hour to get our food.
We were very disappointed.
The surf and turf was excellent, perfectly broiled lobster tail and the 6 oz. filet was tender and flavorful.
I was disappointed that their NYE menu was printed on the back of an old Cherokee Letterhead
I ordered Rack of Lamb & got Lamb chops
the food was good, but the service seemed a little slow
We arrived & they did not have my/your reservation on file
Had reservation but had to sit in bar area. Menu was restricted to only a few items (not like past New Year's Eves). Used to have great potatoes au gratin, not this night. Crème Brulees were ice-cold.
My first dinner at Cherokee Sirloin was probably 50 years ago. Food and value was great. Always had steak of the decade, later of the millennium. They don't have that anymore. Augratin potatoes this time were a poor imitation of what they used to have. The steamed green beans were mediocre at best. Moved to Washington DC 20 years ago and when returning to Minnesota would make it a point to return to Cherokee. Not anymore.
While I appreciated the birthday on Thursday special it proved impossible to have an 8 oz. and had to get one free 5 oz. and order another 5oz.
Wife and sister had the baby back ribs. 1- they were over done am falling off the bone when one tried to cut the ribs apart, 2- that night my sister had diahhrea and my wife was sick to her stomach 3 times. Nephew and I were OK but did not have the ribs.
Service was slow and the food wasn’t as tasty.
Great place to meet friends and catch-up over a drink and dinner. Very comfortable, authentic atmosphere. Food was mediocre. Ribeye was not flavorful and prime rib was a little too cool/tough. Service was great.
Average food and service, nothing memorable or that makes me want to go back.
The ribs were fabulous!
Service was great, as was the food! Total experience was great.
The Monday night special was a great tasting steak and a great bargain! What a nice surprise
Our experience was spotty. Great beans, bread was lower than average, small portions for the price, meat was good, cake could be more creative, nice wait staff, etc.
We had never been in before, and decided to check it out. It was a Friday night, so prime rib was the special.
My husband has the queen prime rib and went with the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The sauce was made from scratch and was simply beautiful.
Our server was very friendly and attentive throughout the entire experience.
Will definitely recommend and be back soon.
Fantastic menus, homemade comfort food, friendly staff... this is a gem in our neighborhood!
Hadn't been in years and will definitely go again as soon as they re-open the high bridge.
Arrived at the restaurant early around 6:30, seated promptly. Ordered the artichoke tip and it was great. When it came to the entrée the restaurant was out of its two signature items...……...at 7:00 p.m. I ended up ordering my "third choice". The food was good not great, the staff was friendly, the restaurant was loud for the number of people at the restaurant. If anyone is looking for a place with an okay menu and overpriced for what you get, this is the place. I might have enjoyed my meal if My first two choices were available.
Once seated, we waited 20 minutes before we went looking for someone to take our drink/food order. After that, the food service and food was good.
Service was great and waitress was very friendly. I wasn't impressed with the snow crab or the french fries. My companion's chicken was tough and he sent it back. I thought it was overpriced for the quality of the food.
Filet Mignon was ordered Med, came out well done with a chard burnt taste. Host seemed annoyed that we came in with a reservation and had to seat us. Waitress was very friendly and attentive.
