Service is slow. Food is average. Not better than average Sichuan restaurants.
Food to spicy for my taste but flavorful.
Fantastic authentic food!
I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant. Excellent spicy cuisine, friendly n helpful service. Very customer focused manger. There is no excuse not to dine here!
Beware: This is serious Sichuan food. Unless you are a fire eater, proceed with caution when ordering spicy dishes. This is probably the best Sichuan food in greater LA.
Just so so Chinese food and nothing special
Always delicious with friendly service. Top restaurant for spicy Chinese cuisine.
We had a great time and the food was delicious. The pork belly was the best that I have had.
The service was lacking and also food took so long to come out. Overall, the experience was okay.
Very nice restaurant, definitely a hidden gem. The staff was super nice and the art around the walls is quite something to look at. The food was delicious. Highly recommended.
If you're not a spicy food lover, don't try this restaurant. Even when they tone down the spice, it's spicy -- it's Szechuan Chinese cuisine after all.
The service was horrible! Most employees weren’t trained to handle a big group (10+). Foods were brought out randomly... the staffs need more experiences. The foods were decent but nothing was great... not a good evening for our guests.
Good quality authentic Chinese food and nice environment! I will come back again!
great food, great service, great environment!
In general, we really like Chengdu Impression. However, when we have eaten here before we had better service and food. This time some of the offerings, eg. the dan dan noodles, were as good as usual. However, some dishes, especially the especially super spicy shrimp, were oily, and we had to ask several times for another dish, pea shoots, to be served. Chengdu Impressions generally serves sophisticated mostly Sichuan cuisine in a lovely setting. We hope our last experience does not indicate a trend.
The food is very good, the portions are generous and the pricing is reasonable.
Food are too spicy for some people. Please offer non-spicy for more food options. Overall it is very good if you tolerate spicy food!
the food is amazing also the environment. the employees are very helpful and instructive.
What a pleasant experience. The food was delicious, and the servers were excellent. We will be back.
During our most recent visit to this temple of szechuan food, we ordered for the table one of the special Thanksgiving menus.
What a treat and wonderful opportunity to sample many, many delicacies.
Food was excellent for sure. Chicken soup was amazing. The price was reasonable for the quality of food. However, the windows did not close tight and the room became quite cold in the night since the wind could come in. Meanwhile, rice/carb should come with the dishes. The dishes were very flavorful but needed rice to go with.
Wonderful in all respects. Thoughtful management and service; superb Szechuan cuisine with an extra level of refinement. Well thought-out menu. Warm welcome; Very enjoyable.
The cuisine they serve reminds me of home, since my mom is from Chongqing. I cannot wait to go back and have some more!
All dishes were excellent...fish, kung pao, lightly fried noodles, eggplant. Large portions...everything had its own flavor profile. Excellent
Love the spicy food and good service.
This was my first experience with authentic Szechuan food. Delicious! Will definitely be back.
Absolutely delicious! We had the dan dan noodles, the wok-fried cauliflower, the kung pao chicken, the pork belly with shishito peppers, and the wok-fried shrimp with asparagus. All were outstanding.
We came here to honor the late Jonathan gold. He had recommended this restaurant, if not discovered it. I found it to be very very overpriced for quite basic food. $75 for two people can buy you all lunch anywhere else.
My wife is from Chengdu so she knows what's what. And she thinks this is the best, the most authentic Chengdu food she's had in the United States.
We came late on a Friday evening after I landed at LAX at 7:30pm and the food was just what I'd been craving - delicious spicy, flavorful Chinese food. The staff was friendly and the restaurant itself was very understated, clean, and overall really pleasent. It was later when we got there so the noise level was quiet but maybe when they're super busy it's a bit louder. Highly recommend if you're in the Arcadia/Monrovia area and are looking for some Chinese food.
This place was awesome. Service was great food was great. My Boyfriend and I brought our mothers for Mother’s Day and it was perfect! Will be going back in the future!
The food and decor are both measurably better than other nearby Chinese restaurants and Chengdu does feature authentic Szechuan cuisine (i.e., very spicy). A little pricey, though, compared to good Chinese restaurants in Alhambra and Monterey Park.
Amazing food!!! They are still working out the service kinks, but the food is worth it.
Great food, just as how I remembered them from the original parent restaurant in Chengdu, China
This trendy place has good food in traditional setting with a modern twist. Each dish was skillfully presented, even though most items were ordinary Sichuan street food. Walking past the kitchen left me impressed, as it looked like a well-orchestrated production.
However, the service was horrible. The staff may have been overwhelmed. Maybe there was poor training. We had to ask three times before we got water. When asked to get our plates changed to clean ones, the waitress brought our two plates but only took one away (leaving the other dirty plate on our table). We had to fetch our own napkins, as we were unsuccessful in flagging down staff. I had to get up and grab a dish for my baby.
When asked for rice, we had to ask two different waiters. The second one told us it will be five minutes. Then, the rice was cold when it arrived. Maybe they didn't microwave the old rice long enough.
Finally, the check came. The waitress shoved the check and ran off. It turned out to be the wrong check. For $85 for my wife and I with our toddler, the pricing seems right for the ambiance and dining environment, but it was certainly not fitting for the service.
My entire family down to our two little boys enjoyed all of the dishes. They were so flavorful and the presentation was gorgeous! We loved the dumplings, the whole bass, the scallops, chicken tofu soup and spicy fried chicken.
Poor service and food is not good
We had made this reservation to meet up with our old friends from Chicago. We started ordering at 6:45 PM, of the four of us ordering there were already three items not available. Then the waitress returned to tell us one of the four items we had ordered was now unavailable! Out of Kung Pao shrimp!?! We ordered a dish spicy crispy chicken dish, literally more chili peppers than chicken and over cooked. Won’t be returning anytime soon....
Having used OpenTable for years, I was disappointed for the first time with an ‘unknown’ restaurant selection.
