Chef's Table at Ka'ana Kitchen
Sourcing from local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen we only put on a plate what is proper to serve. Our pairings speak to the ability to connect the elements of taste, smell, and touch with everything around us. What we serve at Ka‘ana, we serve from the heart.
Situated in the heart of Ka’ana’s open-air kitchen, guests enjoy their six-course menu while interacting with the Chef, Cooks, and Sommeliers. Chef's table is truly an immersive experience.
Sommelier wine pairings are available in several tiers offering guests the opportunity to discover hidden gems or taste some of the world's most sought after wines.
Wonderful experience and food was exceptional.
My husband and I went for an early Valentine's day celebration. Would definitely recommend but be ready to spend $$. 6 course prefix menu includes a dessert entree $125 per person. Add another $125 per person if you want wine pairings... easily $500 at least... we also had cocktails prior and additional after dinner aperitifs. All excellently concocted! Will definitely come back!
I believe this was our best food experience ever!! We will be back!
What a great place! The service was fabulous from the frequent conversations with manager to discussions with the various chefs. We had a great time and the food was varied, impeccably prepared and delicious!
If I ever get back to Maui, we'll go again!
We were at the Chef's Table which means it was like being in Top Chef without the drama! Loved watching the action. Did six courses with wine pairing - definitely worth the splurge. Two of the courses, my husband and I had same. The other four were different. So large variety and since changes every night...I will just say once of the best food experiences of my life. I said a splurge and it was...but it was our anniversary and they made us feel very special.
Hands Down - best meal EVER
Before meeting Archer (and partner John), I’d never met a master of cocktails - that all changed last night. Every detail, from freezing flower pedals into his ice sculptures , the personal glassware, to the tweezers used to make the finished product picture perfect, was looked after.
Each course was paired with a unique crafted cocktail. Unbelievable!!
Not to be overlooked was Chef Johns’ creations. From the Ahi, to the grilled octopus, grilled romaine, hanger steak, fried chicken, scallop risotto, it was all sooo good that each plate was scraped clean before we gave them back!!
Phenomenal food and service with excellent wine pairings. I liked that there were 4 of us and 2 different sets of courses prepared for the first 3 rounds. It was fun to be right next to the kitchen to see all their preparations. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion - for us it was the last night of our vacation in Maui and a great ending to the trip.
My husband and I had the six course chefs tasting and it was incredible! I added on the wine pairings which was icing on the cake. Service was outstanding and every course was fantastic. Best meal we’ve had in our 16 days on Hawai’i!
The food is top quality and the staff are friendly and enthusiastic. We had a great position where we could watch the drinks being made, food being prepped and plated, and everything being staged for delivery to diners. One downside is that serving us was just one more thing the staff had to do on top of everything else. They were gracious and welcoming but we ran out of water a few times and the pacing of the courses was sometimes awkward. Overall though it was a fantastic experience that I would recommend to other foodies.
The cocktail pairing at the bar was amazing. Joe is the man! His cocktails were both creative and delicious. We had so much fun.
Chef’s table. You’re in the kitchen. You get what the chef decides. It’s all fantastic. I had the wine pairing. Was served nine glasses of wine. My belly is full. Eat, drink and be merry.
We did the Chef’s Table and it was awesome. RJ explained all the ingredisncrs and how they go together. The Chef was generous and illuminating. Fabulous night.
Incredible 6 course Chef’s chosen dishes with perfect wine pairings. It was the best dining experience my Wife and I have had!
It was our third visit to Ka’ana Kitchen, and they keep getting better and better each time. The wine pairing done by the sommelier, Charlie was so perfect and we couldn’t believe we have this awesome restaurant on Maui. This is one of the best restaurants in Hawaii (we live in Honolulu and have been to all the fine dining restaurants) and if you happen to be in Wailea, give them a try and you will be happy that you did!
Eating at Chef’s table and having an amazing surprise dinner is an experience. We had outstanding personalized service and fantastic food from Chef John, and you have to remember you get what you pay for.
Excellent service and food
Very attentive staff, great food, nice wine pairings made for a very enjoyable evening.
Great food and service as always! Definitely recommend this experience!
Ka'ana Kitchen was the best meal we had in Maui.
The whole experience was a joy from start to finish. I love tasting menus but pregnancy has made me fussy and wanting to avoid certain foods. Turns out I had nothing to worry about and the kitchen was happy to accommodate (we were prompted at the beginning of our meal to tell the server if there was anything we don't like).
The food was magnificent. The Wagu beef and watermelon salad were particularly memorable. We both had different dishes each time which meant we had the luxury of trying double the amount of flavours.
Service was impeccable. Chefs were absolutely charming (and very good at multitasking!). The chef in front of us noticed the dish I was given had an ingredient that I requested not to have and immediately rectified it. I wasn't going to make a fuss but it really impressed us both that he took it upon himself to fix so quickly.
We both look forward to going back and have recommended Ka'ana Kitchen to our friends.
Archer was awesome. Sat at the “bitters and bites” chefs table and had an fantastic ,drink and food, experience!
Would absolutely do it again.
Everything here was pretty impressive for the most part. Found most every dish to be tasty and thoughtful. My biggest complaint is that when they called 2 days ahead to confirm the reservation and asked for any dietary restrictions or requests and I let them know I cannot stand the taste of goat cheese—which they confirmed again as we were seated at the time of our reservation. They managed to leave goat cheese off of most of my plates but then brought out a risotto which has been finished with goat cheese. I took a bite and immediately tasted it. The server was very nice and helpful when I mentioned to him that if tasted like goat cheese and after discussing with the chefs confirmed my suspicions they goat cheese was in the dish and a different plate was sent out. He was great about it; I was just annoyed that at a place so expensive and with 2 days notice of 1 request—how did that get by? It should have been all over our ticket for the evening. Mt husband is a professional chef and says a request like that would be written all over the ticket and reservation at his restaurant; and in the event if any accidental oversight, the chef and staff would have been profusely apologetic. At any rate, most all of the plates were delicious and impressive; I just felt the ball was dropped on 1 request, and for a meal that we spent almost $500 on with wine. Makes me a little sick
The Chef's Table means the chef choice but you should trust him. They were accommodating in satisfying allergies and substituting one course neither of us was overly enthused about. Unlike other tasting dinners the two of us did not always get the same plate. Two of the courses, the first and the last before desert were the same for both of us. One course we went halfsies on and another we traded dishes and the third the other got at least a taste. In the end every plate was completely cleaned. I even requested bread for one course to make sure none of the sauce was missed.
It's not inexpensive but it was worth every penny.
An actually amazing food and wine experience at the Chef’s table
Expensive, but a great experience
Best Meal in Maui. Ever.
It was my first chefs table experience. Decided to get away and do a day trip alone. The staff were very friendly, kept me company as they were prepping and cooking. Will definitely be back. Enjoyed every minute of it! The hotel was beautiful as well hope to stay there next time!
Awesome experience!! I will definitely recommend this to all...if you love food then the Chef’s Table is for you!!!
Once again, Ka'ana Kitchen hit it out of the park! This is our 2nd time at the Chef's table to celebrate my birthday while in Maui and we will be back for sure! Great GF options, amazing wine list, fun cocktails and wonderful service from start to finish. Top 5 meal of my lifetime!!!
AMAZING. Costs about $125 a head but honestly felt worth every dollar! Really cool for a special night!
Service would have been 5 star except for our server- David. We did a chefs table and when asked questions he made excuses for the kitchen being busy for why he couldn’t find out answers for us.
The food however was amazing for myself as a vegetarian and for two pescatarian’s with myself. The chef came over and talked with us and all the other staff members of the restaurant were friendly
Loved the entire experience. Gwen was attentive and knew her stuff about wine. Chef Rebecca on Fish and a delight to interact with. Would kill for the risotto recipe and I was skeptical of the octopus but it ended up being my favorite. Go hungry. The chef set a respectful and friendly atmosphere.
I’ve been coming to Maui for years and this may be the best meal I have ever had on the island or the main land.
Say at the chef’s table. Saw every plate go through the cycle from line cookery to finishing touches by the chef.
We were introduced to the chef, the Souls chef, the sommelier, the mixologist, our server and others all within minutes of arriving.
The food was amazing. Started out nice and light. Towards the end of the tasting we moved into richer red meats. Paired everything with wine.
The chef and sommelier were very receptive to all my questions. Asked about their stations, asked about their back grounds. Asked about their favorite dishes.
I would recommend going early. We had reservations at 6. The restaurant was jut starting to fill up so we could fire away with questions. The chef asked us if we had any questions, and I immediately asked about the chicken and waffles. Next course they sent it over to us, even though it was not typically on the tasting.
BEST THING TO EVER EAT!
If you go, shoot for the chef’s table. Go early. Be polite and talk to the chefs. It was an amazing experience.
This was hands down the best meal and experience in Maui. Food and service A+
The chef’s table is a must try! It allows you to taste a variety of menu choices including all the faves and a few you may not have chosen but are delectable. The chef and staff wined and dined us with no rushing or care for time we spent enjoying! Truly great service, felt at home in the kitchen like the staff was actually grateful to serve us. Made our 15th anniversary dinner very special and we left fat and happy!
Best meal I’ve had in a very long time, Maybe ever
Great service. Wine Sommelier was great and very personable. Chef’s cooking were so energetic and open to questions. Food was great, plenty - rather pricey especially with full wine tasting - but a really nice experience!
Restaurant sat us at a cabinet at the corner of the kitchen. This piece of furniture was not what you would call a table. It was a cabinet with dishes stored in it. Edges flush with the sides requiring you to sit sideways next to it not facing your food. Manager moved us to nearby table where he assures us Chef’s Table menu would be provided; however, server informed us there is no actual menu for prix fine dining option. Does chef pull options from ala carte menu? No. Nothing printed to give any indication of the cuisine, choices, costs, pairings...nothing.
Place is very noisy.
Strike 1: They didn’t honor our reservation and seat us at Chef’s Counter.
Strike 2: No printed menu.
Strike 3: We didn’t want spend $300 to find out what strike 3 looked like but I’m certain there would have been one so we walked out.
With so many great dining options in Wailea, there’s no reason to risk eating here.
Arrive hungry, you’ll eat well. This was a wonderful way to sample the regular menu. It’s fun to talk with the chef. We would do this again.
A lot of excellent food! Too much to eat. Very expensive! May just do regular table.
