Excellent food. Will return! Staff very accommodating and explained all the dishes. The salmon and chicken were amazing. Loved the shrimp and meatball appetizer.
Fantastic new restaurant offering multiple dishes, every one sounding good...service is always friendly, food is presently beautifully, food tastes great
Best food in LW!!!!
We decided to try Chefs Kitchen for a nice birthday dinner. I'll start by saying that the food was fantastic - very little room for improvement there. Our server was new - maybe even first day - and it showed. The service effort was great but the results were not what I expect when paying $40-50/pp for a complete meal. A more seasoned server came and checked on us, which was nice. My only other small complaint was the size of the serving plates. The plating was beautiful but the plates were way too small for the food - there was no room to even maneuver food to cut it into a bite-sized portion.
I'll definitely go back for the food, but with different expectations for the overall experience.
Excellent food. It is fairly dark inside and atmosphere needs improvement considering the price of the food. It is great to have a good non-bar food choice in Lake Wylie. Nice menu of dishes you don't make at home. Would definitely return.
The food was excellent. The staff was exceptional. Will definitely return.
Reservation at 8:30 walked right in and were seated. Order taken right away and the food was excellent
We wanted to try something different than the usual places in the Charlotte area and came across Chef's Kitchen. It DID NOT disappoint! We had a group of six with everyone ordering a different dish. Everyone agreed that their food was excellent - from the Ribeye to several seafood dishes. We will definitely plan a return visit soon!
The food was delicious and the crab cakes excellent! Highly recommend!
had the seafood mac this time—very good—very filling!!!
This was my 3rd time dining here and every time everything improves. Kiara was our waitress and she was very attentive. The food is amazing and quality is consistently high from one meal to the next.
I really want to like this place. My first time in was pretty good but tonight was not so much. It was over an hour before we got our food. My brother in law got the ribs and green beans and he said it was the worst he ever had. I got the Chicken Marsala and it was good as well as the mashed potatoes. The green beans had zero seasoning on them. They were the saddest looking things.
Not sure we will be back for awhile. I hope they can get it together.
We have eaten here several times and I can’t say enough about the food. My husband wants to try new things, but loves the Salmon New Orleans so much that he won’t get anything new. I’ve tried several dishes and enjoyed them all! The service has gotten better (I know it’s difficult finding help right now), so I commend them for trying to get some help that will continue with them as they grow.
Great Service and food!
Amazing experience! Very cool vibe and excellent food.
The seafood and side dishes are first rate-- some of the best we have had lately.
Their recent addition to the menu was Sea Bass which we verified was Mediterranean
Bass, not Chilean Bass (which actually is tilefish) prepared to perfection. The bottles of wine are fairly priced even if not a huge selection. Service is attentive, but important to know that every dish is being made to order, so it takes a bit of time to get your food.
Our advice is to settle in with cocktails or a bottle of wine and it will be worth the wait.
This is an undiscovered neighborhood gem!
We were seated right away and serviced very quickly. The food was excellent -although a little pricey. The background music was classic soul music (Soul town- Satellite) which is perfect for me. All the tables are situated a safe distance apart and the waiters wear masks. It was a very pleasant and delightful dining experience!
I love the menu selections here! And the crab cake appetizer is wonderful!
Service can be a bit slow, so don’t go of you are in a big rush.
Love this restaurant! 🎉
We dined at Chef's Kitchen for the first time last Saturday evening and it was a very lack luster experience. It started when we entered the restaurant, there were a few people standing around waiting for to go orders and the hostess was not at the desk. When she did show up she ignored us for a solid 10 minutes, when she finally did notice us we were seated promptly. The restaurants ambience leaves a lot to be desired and the hard bench seats were very uncomfortable. The lighting felt like we were in a diner and I was under a spotlight. Upon delivery of the bread basket we both took a piece of bread to which we added butter from one of those awful off brand plastic butter cups with the foil you peel off. We both looked at each other and said the bread doesn't taste like anything, literally nothing. We always share our meals and ordered the beet salad and the shrimp and lobster scampi. The beet salad tasted like it was dressed with olive oil not a champagne vinaigrette as stated and there were 4 miniscule pieces of beets on a $12 salad! The lobster and shrimp scampi dish tasted ok, the seafood was cooked very well, the one saving grace to the dish, it was eatable just not terribly interesting. For the $26 price tag we had higher expectation of flavor. As far as the wine menu they had 2 choices for red wine, cabernet and merlot, we both ordered a glass of the cab and it was barely drinkable. We had high hopes for a restaurant named chefs kitchen and were disappointed to say the least especially with a 4.0 rating on open table. Not sure what we missed but won't take the chance of trying again. Prices are too high, ambience is terrible and food mediocre at best.
Good start to a new restaurant in an area that needs something better! Good flavors and presentation.
Chefs Kitchen was a wonderful find. Our food tasted great, service by Allisha was pleasant and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Thank you 😊
Food was good, although they were out of many items and sides. Atmosphere was not the best and the “elevator like” music was too loud.
This facility has changed hands numerous times over the years... yet not much has been done with regard to renovations. The décor is drab, leaning significantly towards tacky, rundown & worn. The service was slow & unprofessional. My utensils & wine glass were dirty. I could feel the hardened debris on the exterior of the glass. This was overlooked by the bartender because he was wearing gloves. (Same pair the entire time as he moved from one task to the next.)
The food was good & well presented, but again slow. I would recommend placing your order to go. I did observe one patron waiting 20+ minutes for his to go order, after the hostess initially said it would be right out. Other reviews indicate they also operate as a catering company. It might be in their best interest to stick to catering, as the food is good, at least until they can correct the front of house issues.
Excellent food and service! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends!
Disappointed in the food which was bland. The place is over-priced too.
Amazing food at an affordable price!
My family and I came and they served all 11 of us the food was amazing and service
This was our first time visiting Chef's Kitchen and we didn't know what to expect. We ordered the arancini appetizer, lobster and shrimp scampi and blackened chicken alfredo and everything was delicious. The menu had so many tempting choices, cannot wait to go back and try more.
Great food and service - really enjoyed the lobster and shrimp scampi. The decor was understated at best, but we will definitely be going back.
We we’re enjoying a Valentine Date night. We had a great overall experience, the food was excellent. Our waitress Alicia (I believe) was very pleasant and prompt with meeting requests. The only drawback to the experience was the wait time to be seated despite having the reservation. Again it was a holiday and they were busy so we understood. We also was hoping the restaurant had undergone some renovations but the interior decor is still in need of updating. The part that mattered most to us was having great food and service and they receive 5 stars for that, so we will be retuning. So happy to have this gem close to home and to be able to support local business.
The service at this restaurant was abysmal. Behind the hostess station is a sign that says: "Welcome to our beautiful chaos." That, in actuality, is a bit of foreshadowing if you drop the "beautiful" part. Our reservation was for 7:00 pm and we were right on time. Upon entering we noticed that were about 5 couples ahead of us, milling about. I approached the hostess station and stated our name and reservation time. The hostess took down this information in a small book, and then said she'd be back in a moment. She was gone for about 3-4 minutes and when she came back, it wasn't to speak to us, but another group that was waiting. We continued to wait, and at about 7:20 the hosted indicated that our table was ready. At that point, a couple approached and said they had a reservation for 6:45 and had yet to be seated. The hostess was startled that this couple had not been seated yet, and I told them that they needed to go first. So, we continued to wait and about 5 minutes later we were seated next to the kitchen entrance. And we sat, and we sat some more. After about 10 minutes of no contact with the wait staff we decided it was best to leave. And so we did. I had high hopes for this restaurant and had been looking forward to it. Sadly, it was a glaring disappointment. If you decide to go, beware that their sign says it all... "Welcome to our (not even remotely beautiful) chaos. I cannot recommend this restaurant.
We were not greeted at all. The hostess was nowhere to be found for 18 minutes. We were told by a waitress that she would be right with us. That was false. The man behind the bar, who appeared to be the owner, looked completely overwhelmed and disorganized and was just trying to pretend to be busy instead of addressing the obvious cluster at the front of house. There were people there that had been waiting for almost an hour despite having a reservation.
The restaurant was dated. They tried to renovate some with paint and some new chairs. But the old wooden doors and the tacky elevator music really brought the ambiance back down to an old mom and pop joint stuck in time.
I wanted so badly to love the food and drinks but I couldn’t. I order my usual Hendricks and tonic with lime. It was watered down and they put a lime slice that was so thin you couldn’t even squeeze it. The rolls that I had to remind the waitress to bring were hard and store bought. The rolls were served with off brand plastic tubs of butter. This is not what you expect with the prices they are trying to charge. My beet salad was not impressive. $13 for crunchy beets, Flavorless goat cheese, and a half dressed salad. The main dish I order a seafood Napoleon. The flavor was actually excellent. But conceptually they got it wrong. How can you call this a Napoleon? The name suggests it is stacked high like the dessert it is named after. Instead it is presented as a Benedict; with tomato on bottom, seafood on top,and sauced with a bernaise. My wife got their signature ravioli with lobster. Again the taste was excellent, but failed conceptually. The lobster tail was split and the meat was secured in the shell making it nearly impossible to get the meat out with the small bowl they provided.
I would not recommend this restaurant. They could be so much more if they focused on flavors and pricing their food for good, wholesome, southern fair. They have the flavors, but just trying extremely too hard.
Placing a reservation and then being told to wait 40 min just to sit down.
My first time going, but definitely not my last! The food was exceptional, the service was on point considering the business of the place. Prices were good for the amount of food that you get. Menu ranges from Shrimp and Grits to Pork Chops. And save room for desserts!
