Chef's Kitchen at The Setai Miami Beach Ratings and Reviews
Going back to a place you really like the first time is always a risk, but Setai Grill lived up to the challenge. The short rib dumplings were as amazing as we recalled, which was pretty amazing. We tried the hamachi, which was terrific. The blend of textures and heat is unique and executed perfectly. The steaks are perfection; both the filet and the churassco - no need to wander into the "extra charge" offerings, the standards are large and delicious. The Setai fried rice is a treat and the wasabi spinach came out originally not as good as the first time we tried it, which the waiter immediately acknowledged and replaced with the real deal! Sesame panna cota may not be for everyone but it is for us and was as good as the first time. Beyond the food, the service is both personal and highly professional and the dining room is beautiful.
My wife and I made last minute reservations here and we were very happy. The service, food, and atmosphere were excellent. I had the filet and my wife the tuna which were both wonderful. As good as the main course was the deserts were an even better experience. I highly recommend giving it a try.
We had the menu with 3 courses.
It was just outstanding!!
The location is really quiet and beautifully set. If you leave the restaurant, you come into the Bar, where there is a lot of action!!
The price for the dining is high, but more than fair, in respect to what you get!!
The only negative point, which doesn't have to do with the restaurant, is that the bar is extremely overpriced!
My friends and I enjoyed a birthday vacation in Miami and I chose the Setai Grill for my birthday dinner reservations. The hotel itself is lovely-sleek, sharp and refined. We did notice the outdoor fountain in the courtyard area which is reserved for cocktail hour. The restaurant was beautiful, but I wish there had been an option to eat outside by the water as well, since it was stunning. The service was immaculate-staff made excellent recommendations and the food delicious. My favourite dishes were the tuna tartar and sashimi first course. The fish was fresh and melted in my mouth. I will recommend this restaurant to others in the future.
The entire meal from 1st course to dessert was oustanding. The miso soup was the best miso soup i have ever tasted and the black cod was sublime. The fried rice and steaks are divine. The bento box dessert is a must try.
We dined at Morimotos the previous night and Setai Grill blew them away. Kudos to the chef Denevin Miranda for an outstanding experience.
From beginning to end, everything was great. What an amazing experience for your palette. Service was also outstanding and I have been passing the word on to my friends since most people don't know about this restaurant. It is a hidden gem with amazing food and service.
Overall I was super impressed with the Resteraunt and the staff, id planned the evening to propose to my now fiancée (thankfully she said yes) the staff were very accommodating, helpful, attentive and made for a lovely evening.
My only concern was the staff entrance near where we sat, it was obviously in need of maintenance made a fairly annoying squeak each time it was opened which was often. But as it said this was the only mark on what turned out to be an enjoyable evening.
We recently stayed 4 nights at The Setai. We decided to eat at the hotel after a long day. A beautiful restaurant with exceptional service. The wine list was extraordinary. I had a bone-in filet that was cooked perfectly. Miami restaurants are too often loud, fast and very expensive (relative to the food quality). The Setai Grill provided a nice sanctuary to enjoy an exceptional meal.
I had picked the Setai Grill before coming to Miami for a special event. They a special six course Tasting Menu listed online but when we arrived the Menu seemed to have been replaced for a three course summer special. To meet our disappointment, they managed to pull a special menu together with all different courses that we had set our tastebuds and accompanied it with wine-pairing. It was all excellent, the service, the food, the ambiance and we were very happy. The check in the end blew us away but it was worth every penny.
We were blown away by outdoor courtyard, menu selection, and culinary experience. Our expectations for this "grill" we're far exceeded! Show up hungry, small plates and apps should not be skipped over although entrees were the stars! We had black cod (mouthwatering) and skirt steak (the smell alone was delicious) and ate every bite! The staff was very attentive though not overbearing, and left us feeling well taken care of. The drink menu was superb, very creative and eclectic options that we thoroughly enjoyed!!
Fantastic meal, we strongly encourage you to try it!
The Setai Grill has one of the most fantastic outdoor dining areas I've seen in South Beach. Lights are low in the evening ; huge beautiful dark water feature surrounded by By beautiful tall palm trees and the table nicely spaced . DJ's music Playing in the background very hip. Each course we enjoyed was delicious ,however very very tiny. This does not come as a surprise however because our waitstaff was clear on what to expect. There is an Asian reference to everything and it all made for a beautiful special evening out.
While the reviews prior to making our reservation seemed positive, we were highly disappointed with our experience. The appetizers were mediocre - overcooked and overpriced, for entrees 3 steaks were not cooked as ordered - we sent 1 back and our 2 guests flipflopped their orders; scallops, priced at $29 was a mere 2 scallops!! Dessert portions were too small for sharing, the Irish coffee was incorrectly prepared and cold-even the waited should have realized this and not served it!
We had pre-dinner drinks at the bar, advised the bar we were taking our table and returning to pay, while seated, they chased me down to pay the bill!
This was an awful experience from start to finish, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my dog!!!
We were disappointed because we were the only ones in the restaurant and the garden i had heard about was closed. Order TAP water because they charged us $10 for a bottle of water. Tap water wasn't even an option (would you like sparkling or still water? ) i hate when they do that! Food was good. We asked where the chef got his reblouchon cheese to male the tartiflette and he said he used robiolo cheese instead! Don't say that its a tartiflette de reblouchon then!!
We had the Miami Spice selection on Sunday night, my wife got the catch of the day which was salmon, and thought it was very good. I got the steak with argula and the taste was fantastic, but the downside was that the steak was so thin that it was not filling enough. Service was nice, staff was nice and the scene is and staff are very laid back.
Very good meals. Had wine pairing for $29 extra. Excellent food. Pasta was a little skimpy in size. Chocolate mousse also small for dessert. The meat was delicious. Did not try catch of the day. Bread, individually baked in pan, like corn bread. delicious!!! Very attentive service and Maitre D' very helpful with wine pairing.
