I LOVE Chef Geoff and have been a loyal fan since the day it opened. Living 1 block away makes it my home away from home. CG has the very best people working for them. They are also what makes CG so special.
Greetings and thanks to all of you. Kitty L
Their burger is arguably the best in DC. The manager is friendly and helpful, and the servers terrific. A+
Three of us were at Chef Geoff's for lunch on September 10. One had beef enchiladas, one had meatloaf sandwich, one had chicken Milanese. The food was good. The service was very good. All of this occurred during a very busy lunch period. The prices were reasonable. Chef Geoff does a good job. We will return.
The food was terrible.
Ease of parking is a big plus. Everything I’ve had is cooked to perfection
Visiting DC. Recommend by a friend. Wonderful menu; variety, something for everyone in our family. I love how there were dishes that were simply prepared as an option.
Chef Geoff’s offers the best deal for the annual Washington Restaurant Week (WRW) – they are one of the few DC area restaurants that extends their WRW menu to include weekend brunch as well as being the only restaurant group with the most generous menu offering which offer customers 1) a brunch cocktail or one of regular appetizers as an appetizer selection, 2) any lunch main or brunch plate from their regular menu as the main entrée, and 3) including port as a dessert menu option! For our brunch, I did just that – order their bloody mary for my first course and a port for my dessert, along with my hangover burger all for just $22! Since my friend does not drink, she ordered calamari appetizer. It was quite delicious and the portion was enormous! Our server was great – he was quite attentive throughout and handled his section like a rockstar. There were longer wait times between when he returned but we knew beforehand to expect longer hold times as most restaurants get packed during WRW. For any all-day happy hour fans, their all day happy hour on Mondays and Tuesdays is a steal bargain (Tysons has them just on Mondays). My friends and I look forward to going to Chef Geoff’s as much as possible during WRW as it has become an annual tradition for us.
Great food!!! Very flavorful. Will be back again. Went for restaurant week and got a great deal on brunch.
dog friendly and outside seating should be added to the list above as this restaurant has both
Place was busy as American Univ students took their parents during move in weekend
Restaurant week had amazing selections ( entire menu) for a set price
Service , food and drink were great
We were seated at our reservation time also
I always know the food will be good at Chef Geoff’s. Tyson’s and New Mexico Ave are excellent choices for a good lunch with friends.
Chef Geoff is one of the best restaurants to go to during the DC Restaurant week. There is no special menu, no additional costs if you add shrimp or chicken, or beef to a dish because you can order anything from the menu.
Great food, friendly service, and outstanding value.
The artichoke appetizer was amazing. Can’t wait to get it again.
We met up with friends from out of town and were lucky to be seated outdoors, and dine al fresco! We were a party of four. All in all, we had a nice experience, but there were some little oddities. The server who took our order was friendly and highly competent; came back at the right intervals to check on us; engaged with us without overdoing it; was completely familiar with the menu and made good recommendations. All very top-notch, The person who actually delivered and removed the plates, however, was abrupt and seemed somewhat confused. When he approached the table with the plates, he just put the dishes down willy-nilly without checking that he had matched the order with the guest. And he made incorrect matches in two cases. This is how it should go: He should say in a pleasant tone, "The fish?" and let the guest respond: "Yes, that's for me, thanks." He came back at several points to demand, "ARE YOU FINISHED WITH THAT?" and began to remove the dishes when, um, I, for one, wasn't finished; instead of, "Would you like me to take your plate?" We had the cauliflower/red pepper soup. It was OK, but frankly two of us commented later that it really was hard to distinguish the flavors and that the overall impression was Campbell's tomato soup from a can, blended with full-fat milk and chilled and presented in a stylish bowl. Desserts were incredible -- cheesecake was fantastic. The portions are small, but mine was so rich I couldn't even finish it, so I think the size was probably more generous than would meet the eye. I would NEVER eat inside here on a crowded evening. It is WAY. TOO. L-O-U-D. I rate the noise level here as moderate, for outdoor dining.
After several times dining here I can only confirm that this place is one of the best options in the Van Ness and surroundings area. Parking is a blessing and the food is great and reasonably priced. The ambiance outside, on the patio, is quite different to the more intimate inside, and thus you have a choice.
We were a party of 6 on Sunday. Everyone had similiar comements regarding the food. The food was fair to average. The food was bland and uninteresting. Service was slow and needed polish. We were all left with the impression of an establishment that has started a decline, perhaps a rapid decline if Chef Geoff does not correct ASAP.
Good comfort food. Friendly. Outside tables if you can stand the DC humidity. A neighborhood favorite.
The team are Chef Geoff's is consistently excellent!! From fare to service with a smile, we consider this our 'kitchen' and 'back patio' - as much family as it is friends. And special requests are never a bother!
The service was excellent. The staff is friendly and engaged. The food was presented beautifully and tasted great.
I liked the food very much, as always. But wait staff kept interrupting us. They asked how things were before any of us had lifted a fork. Then the server grabbed a plate as soon as someone had finished even though three others were still eating; then kept trying to do it. PLEASE ask servers to stop doing that. It is annoying and rude. It gives the impression that they want us to get out. Restaurant was not at all full so pressure was unnecessary.
Terrifically upbeat staff accompanied by creative food offerings is just a great combination for what for us is basically a local neighborhood restaurant. Probably the restaurant we go to most often in a year and it never disappoints.
Restaurant pretty empty so under circumstances, service slow. That said, server v nice
We were at American University to visit our nephew. Very convenient, within walking distance, was perfect for what we needed. Food was good for some courses and just so-so for others. The Sunset menu was a good value. Caesar salad needs work.
Delicious food and a lovely setting -- inside but especially outside if it's not too hot.
As always, everything about our recent lunch at Chef Geoff's was outstanding. They maintain the highest quality for meals and food variety, and the service always more than outstanding!
The staff was helpful in reducing the very loud volume on the tvs covering a major sports event. One of our party was particularly interested in it, and we sat so he had a good view, but it was so extremely loud when we first arrived that I complained. With the volume lowered, we could hear one another! I've had lunch and dinner at this place many times, but never experienced that volume of noise! Unfortunately, it was too hot and humid to sit outside as a solution to the noise problem.
We had friends visiting in town and needed a brunch place nearby, and this worked well.
I had not tried a brunch at Chef Geoff's but I had been to their lunch and dinner service many times. The brunch menu offered limited choices but the choices were broad enough to meet our tastes. The ala carte menu supplemented the choices.
I had the breakfast burrito, which was well prepared. While the burrito advertised chorizo, it wasn't present in mine but rather it had mildly spicy sausage. The outside dining experience was pleasant for a Sunday brunch.
We were happy to have a place to go to watch the World Cup soccer game
Like to sit outside Food always good Staff really nice
Always great. Brought a friend from Louisiana - loved it! Service and food is always right.
As always, it was great casual dining with gourmet selections.
Chef Geoff's is a neighborhood treasure...great for a perfect burger, outside on the patio. The menu is great for anything you might fancy.
Mixed results. There were 4 at our table; we all tasted all the dishes and had mixed feelings about the execution of the food. The service was great and prices reasonable.
Too cold! Food good
Very pleasant atmosphere and staff and delicious food made it very rewarding to return to Chef Geoff's
Service was professional and food was very good. Great place for a business lunch and to meet friends. Restaurant was full and energetic, yet we were still able to hear one another across the table. Staff were helpful to recommend and accommodate gluten free options. Location is perfect for accommodating a variety of people with a variety of food preferences and plenty of parking.
Always a great burger spot! Brought our grandson out to CGs for his DC burger tour.
Should improve their menu selection...
Best thing is wine by the bottle is 50% off on Wednesday.
I love my neighborhood restaurant, Chef Geoff's. At lunch, however, I asked for my salad without cheese, and it was brought with cheese. My companion's lunch was hot and served to her, so she went ahead and ate while I waited. You can get this right the first time. Also, our table, located upper tier across from bar near hostess, the wall was dirty with splashed coffee. Not appealing at all! Please get it right, we like you.
We went for Father's Day brunch. Food was very good. Service was a bit subpar.
