Chef Geoff's (New Mexico Ave.)
A DC staple with a friendly, neighborhood feel, you will feel welcome here for any occasion large or small. Our made from scratch menu, including our seasonal weekly specials menu, is fresh, flavorful and offers something for everyone. From pizza, salads & burgers to our more elaborate main dishes, one thing is for certain, we don’t skimp on flavor! Our bar, featuring our daily happy hour, covers all ends of the spectrum from our famous super mugs (giant beers) to our handcrafted cocktails created by our in-house mixologist Hector Carmona. The breezy elevated patio is the perfect spot to enjoy our Bottomless Brunch. And don't forget Half Price Wine Night every Wednesday! There’s always something happening at Chef Geoff’s!
Our server Levi was excellent: personable, helpful, attentive, knowledgeable. Our dinners were excellent. Chef Geoff restaurants are my favorites and never disappoint me.
Brussel sprouts were fabulous. I was very disappointed in the fish tacos. The fish was dry and overcooked. Service was excellent.
Birthday. Waiter was in and off. Female bartender was outstanding.
This was an excellent restaurant with great food and great service.
As usual for a location of this restaurant group, the food was very good, more than sufficient in quantity and promptly and cheerfully served. We were very pleased and will certainly go back.
I went to Chef Geoff's on New Mexico Avenue to try the special menu for diners between 4 and 6 pm. It was terrific! The food was delicious and the hostess and waitress could not have been nicer. It happened to be a few days after my birthday and they honored a birthday coupon for me. Even without the coupon, the dinner would have been a great value.
The calamari and the salmon were excellent. The service was very good.
great neighborhood place, good food and drink, enjoyable atmosphere. love the outdoor area when the weather is good. our waiter Patrick was fantastic!
Food took 45 minutes to be served after ordering. That’s way too long.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We love to meet friends here and the food quality is always good and consistent. Sat. night they had a wedding going on and the food was still good. The receptionist took care of our seating needs and sat us at a nice table in the back that was comfortable and maybe even quieter than near the middle tables. The specials for Valentine's Day were unusual but two of our party enjoyed them. Waiter was friendly but over the course of the meal I noticed we weren't getting water refills and no rolls before dinner. I had to ask. And then dessert took extra long because they had to make the ricotta donot holes. Not very efficient on that end. Food good, noise level was moderate and we were able to talk but the little things were annoying. I tried to tell the front manager but she wasn't available when we were leaving. Definitely will go back especially when the patio opens in the warmer weather.
Great vibe, very good service and other diners behaved well. All type of folks- families, groups, couples - so the noise level was bit high but again a good vibe so the buzz was upbeat and friendly. Oh and the food was really good!
We started with a party of 12 which grew to 16 and they pleasantly accommodated us even though it was a busy time on a Saturday night . The food and service were excellent - all 16 in my party agree- can’t say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant!
We really enjoyed dinner. The food was simply fabulous!
Valentine’s Day dinner. Excellent new items on the menu—as usual. Chef Geoff was there overseeing the kitchen as he often does. Great table for 2 at the window.
We were ready to order when our beverages arrived, but our server rushed off. Never came back for beverage refill. Took too long to get the check. Some of us have to get back to work. Food was delicious, however!
Our get together is a grief group which meets each Tues. We found the restaurant conducive to our wishes. Accessible for handicapped and quiet. The food is good.
Lovely casual dinner.
My husband an I both had fish and Hoth his halibut and my combos, a special, were fabulous!
A neighborhood gem. Lovely decor, good food and parking too?
It was a quiet night since it was Super Bowl Sunday. The specials were wonderful and we had a great night together.
What a great evening. It was quite busy and we enjoyed the coziness. Our favorite in the neighborhood.
Waiter was pleasant enough but we couldn’t figure out why the service was so incredibly slow. It took one hour for us to even get bread at the table. For a party of 4, dinner took 2 hours. Unacceptable. Food was tasty but I don’t feel the need to come back any time soon.
I appreciate the gluten free buns. The burger was delicious. My friend had the mushroom ravioli. Our service was on point. Also there is a parking garage behind the restaurant and they validate parking. I definitely will return.
The server was swamped, I get that would cause stress but when I alerted him that our kids meal was missing the fruit it was supposed to come with he huffed as if I was personally offending him and rushed away from the table. Eventually a bus boy brought it. We never received our bread, no one noticed even though I asked twice. The server was so passive aggressive I was afraid to ask him for anything else after that (like the second round of drinks we wanted) the rest of dinner and honestly couldn’t as he never checked on us and the next time he came back to the table was to drop the check with no “I hope you enjoyed your meal” or any acknowledgement. Just a pouty-faced kid that should learn to handle the pressure or he’ll continue to deter customers from the restaurant. We asked the bus boy to wrap the remaining pizza we had left and as we were walking out the door realized they never brought us the bag. My mom went to the server asking about it and received the response, “well did I take your food to wrap it up?!” as is if she made some accusation that he lost it and how dare she ask him. She had to walk over and find it herself. The icing on the cake is since dinner my mother has been extremely sick and up all night because of something she ate. My guess is the shrimp potstickers. Anyways, overall it was such an unenjoyable night that we will never be coming back which is a shame because we live in the area and the food was good even if it made my mom sick.
Courteous, professional service from hostess and waitstaff.
Chef Geoff’s is consistently excellent. We almost always enjoy new, fresh flavors when we dine there.
I don’t know Chef Geoff’s policy but generally when you’re celebrating a birthday and the Restaurant knows about it in advance there’s some sort of acknowledgment. It didn’t happen when I took my husband there for his birthday. We were disappointed. Also my steak had an enormous amount of gristle. It was not the best dining experience we’ve ever had. 🥺
Food was excellent and reasonably priced
Love the options on the menu! Solid go to place!
Chef Geoffs has been a favorite of ours for over 10 years. We hadn’t been there in a while and were excited to go back. Food, drink and ambiance did not disappoint; however our waiter was surprisingly inattentive, almost rude, especially compared to other waiters/waitresses.
Great food! Fun Happy Hour. Very professional team and overall management. Wonderful deals for those of us who can take advantage of the Sunset menu. Thanks!
This is becoming my DC go to!!!
Great food and great service. Would totally recommend to a friend
It was our first visit. We had the honey chipotle wings and calamari to start. Both were excellent.
We didn’t care for the bloody Mary’s but that’s more of a personal preference. They were kind of chunky and maybe too heavily seasoned for our taste.
I had the egg scramble with bacon and home fries. It was delicious as the eggs were perfectly cooked but could’ve used a little salt.
She had the mushroom frittata with truffles. It was just so so. not well seasoned, couldn’t taste any truffles at all and it had hardly any mushrooms. No salt and very bland.
Well all in all service was excellent and the food was good except for the mushroom frittata. We will return.
We love CGs need a place on the west side of the Potomac
Best value in DMV
I’ve heard many great things about this restaurant but I think I went on an off night.
Shrimp and cheesy grits delectable, service attentive and friendly -- great evening out -- a cannot miss for quality and beautiful presentation!
When you advertise restaurant week and take lots of reservations, you need to hire more staff, Regular customers like me will grumble and return but you certainly will not attract any new customers with the very poor level of service we experienced this time.
Easy to get to; easy to park (but be careful of the rules for the parking lot in the back); walk through the office building lobby to come out the front and then hang a left to get to Chef Geoff's entrance. Food was delicious, although the mahi mahi tacos did not present well and tasted good but not outstanding, as the shrimp potstickers, calamari, or shrimp and grits. Service left a a little to be desired: instead of patiently waiting while we took off our coats and got settled to hand us the menus or putting them on the table, the hostess passive aggressively kept trying to hand us the menus and even commented that she wanted to give us the menus. Then, our main courses came when we were not even DONE with the appetizer course, let alone a waiter coming by to clear to dishes or even our waiter checking in on us. Would return for the food, hoping the service is better.
Food and drinks were good but pricey. Service very attentive. Happy hour prices and menu only apply at the bar which is not stated on their website.
