Food was excellent and reasonably priced
Chef Geoffs has been a favorite of ours for over 10 years. We hadn’t been there in a while and were excited to go back. Food, drink and ambiance did not disappoint; however our waiter was surprisingly inattentive, almost rude, especially compared to other waiters/waitresses.
Great food! Fun Happy Hour. Very professional team and overall management. Wonderful deals for those of us who can take advantage of the Sunset menu. Thanks!
This is becoming my DC go to!!!
Great food and great service. Would totally recommend to a friend
It was our first visit. We had the honey chipotle wings and calamari to start. Both were excellent.
We didn’t care for the bloody Mary’s but that’s more of a personal preference. They were kind of chunky and maybe too heavily seasoned for our taste.
I had the egg scramble with bacon and home fries. It was delicious as the eggs were perfectly cooked but could’ve used a little salt.
She had the mushroom frittata with truffles. It was just so so. not well seasoned, couldn’t taste any truffles at all and it had hardly any mushrooms. No salt and very bland.
Well all in all service was excellent and the food was good except for the mushroom frittata. We will return.
Shrimp and cheesy grits delectable, service attentive and friendly -- great evening out -- a cannot miss for quality and beautiful presentation!
When you advertise restaurant week and take lots of reservations, you need to hire more staff, Regular customers like me will grumble and return but you certainly will not attract any new customers with the very poor level of service we experienced this time.
Easy to get to; easy to park (but be careful of the rules for the parking lot in the back); walk through the office building lobby to come out the front and then hang a left to get to Chef Geoff's entrance. Food was delicious, although the mahi mahi tacos did not present well and tasted good but not outstanding, as the shrimp potstickers, calamari, or shrimp and grits. Service left a a little to be desired: instead of patiently waiting while we took off our coats and got settled to hand us the menus or putting them on the table, the hostess passive aggressively kept trying to hand us the menus and even commented that she wanted to give us the menus. Then, our main courses came when we were not even DONE with the appetizer course, let alone a waiter coming by to clear to dishes or even our waiter checking in on us. Would return for the food, hoping the service is better.
Food and drinks were good but pricey. Service very attentive. Happy hour prices and menu only apply at the bar which is not stated on their website.
Food was very good. Service was not. Unclear whether they hire kids from AU or what, but the service was not good. Servers were polite but were very inattentive. We were seated for 15 min before anyone greeted us at the table. Service was slow. After dinner, we asked for a dessert menu and another glass of wine... after waiting 10 min the server came back with the check, completely forgetting our order. Probably won’t return.
Maria greeted us with hugs and seated us as requested at the front window. Food was great as usual. Love Chef Geoff’s!
The Sweet and Spicy Cauliflower as an appetizer and the Madras Curry Chicken were both top shelf (I do beg to differ with the servers heat rating for the appetizer; definitely a notch hotter than the 5 out of 10 rating he gave it). The Atlantic Salmon was fine, but nothing special. The bacon brussels were a disappointment, particularly after the accolades from the server. Under-cooked and barely a whiff of the bacon. Being new to the restaurant, I am not sure what the norm is for this location, but the scene was pretty quiet for a weekend (AU was on break so possibly a much more vibrant restaurant when the school is back in session). Would definitely return for the two noted gems.
Server was knowledgeable, took time to respond to questions and checked back. Much appreciated.
I went to Lia's, not Chef Geoff's on New Mexico. As many times as I've been there, I've never been disappointed in the food!
This DC standard never fails. Excellent menu, excellent service, excellent value.
Great neighborhood restaurant
Good food, service was okay at best.
The wait-staff checked in on us quite frequently to make sure we enjoying our experience! The food was also quite tasty.
Had to wait too long for our table
First, the good news: easy parking, they use linen tablecloths and napkins, and we were able to have easy conversation without the need to speak with raised voices. Also, the service was good. Bad news: my food was disappointing. I ordered one of the specials - a filet mignon sandwich, medium. The sandwich was more bun than anything else. I had only about four or five small bites of meat (well done, not medium) with scant horseradish sauce on the bun. The plate was loaded with potatoes that tasted like they had been reheated and weren’t very good. I left most of them on the plate. Not a good value, in my opinion.
Food was mediocre to poor.
best burger around!
Need work on serving hot fries, which I asked for😞
We had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner. The food was very good, and we would particularly like to convey our appreciation to our waitress, who was simultaneously efficient and very personable.
We went on Thanksgiving.
While our order was delayed by an unexpected staff absence impacting the number of available servers for Thanksgiving dinners, my guest and I were talking and not unduly concerned about the delay in ordering our meals. Our original server (who apparently was overstretched) was then gracefully replaced by a fabulous young man--Tyler--who was stellar throughout the rest of our meal. I can't wait to return. After quite a long absence, I was delighted that the food and overall commitment to providing a memorable dinner are still active and valued by Chef Geoff's!
Went to Chef Goeff's for an early Thanksgiving dinner before going to the Kennedy Center. This was a sort of last minute plan because of a change in family logistics. Great turkey meal with 3 full courses. We are a family of 4 from Northern Va. My 16 and 13 year olds loved their meals. My wife and I were very happy with how our Thanksgiving plans turned out. Very comfortable atmosphere. Not at all stuffy. Perfect family venue for the holidays!
Perfect Thanksgiving for a family of four (with one small child)! No dishes to wash afterwards; traditional turkey dinner was excellent; the kid got to pick something she liked better! The atmosphere was welcoming and not stuffy, and the early seating was not crowded.
It was a quite ordinary meal, adequate, but nothing special for Thanksgiving. The table, although in an excellent location, was badly set - no fork for one diner, no bread dishes for either. Will look somewhere else for more satisfying fare.
Unfortunately, Chef Geoff's has continued to decline in recent years. It used to be one of our favorites, but now doesn't measure up to what it used to be. On our recent visit, the service was the worst we've ever had.
Great! Food was amazing and so was the servife
Quiet, classy venue in a quiet neighborhood setting. Generously sized lunch pizzas (definitely enough for two) in addition to a variety of lunch options. Don't live in DC but would definitely revisit if in the neighborhood again!
Celebrating my husband’s birthday.
The only downside was the greeter when we checked in. Rather unpleasant but the waitress made up for it. Parking is overpriced --$4.00 for an hour and fifteen minutes.
We enjoyed a wonderful brunch. Our service was outstanding.
The service was outstanding and the food was perfect! We had no concerns or issues at all. Food service was quick and served hot. Recommend anything we ordered: calamari, shrimp potstickers, wings, CG Burger, Kale Caesar Salad with salmon, NY Strip, and Sausage Rigatoni.
Great spot for date night, group dinner or just a casual dinner.
The food and service at Chef Geoff's are always delicious and gracious.
Always a great place for dinner with friends or celebrating a special occasion! Love their mushroom ravioli.
Always great food. But as usual, erratic service - partly due to the restaurant’s system of having the food delivered by staff other than your order-taker (who unaccountably disappears for long stretches at a time). So forget about quickly correcting or supplementing your order after it’s brought to the table. We’ve been going here since it opened many years ago and I’ve just resigned myself to service that is correct 80% of the time.
I am a regular diner at this Chef Geoff's location but on this occasion my companion and i had two issue.s The bottle of wine first offered tasted like it had jet fuel in it. I'm not too fussy about wine normally, but this tasted awful. The waiter did promptly suggest another much better but a lot more expensive wine. As for food, again, I usually like the food here, but the Pad Thai tasted very sweet and I had to force myself to eat about two-thirds of it. It was not spoiled or anything, it sjust did not taste like any pad thai I've had in Thai restaurants and I would never order it again.
