Dining together allows us to better understand who we are, regardless of our social status. The food does not have to be elegant, complicated, or fancy. We find that busy people like simple food—the busier they are, the simpler the food. Our menu is straightforward, down-home Southern food with a few more contemporary dishes.

Getting back to the table allows us to love and nurture each other and renew connections to our families—however they may be configured—in this diverse and ever-changing society. Such connections are crucial in a fast-paced world where we feel more disconnected every day. One of the best ways we know how to restore that daily balance is to sit down at our table.

We should all think about returning to the sanctity of the table, where we can rebuild our families whether they be given or chosen, and reconnect with those we love and choose to love. Our table is a familiar, uncomplicated, friendly place where we can celebrate.

We loved every bite. We shared the hushpuppies, fried chicken, and kale and brussel salad. We've been here twice, and to the Disney location once, and have loved everything we ordered.

Food was average, very disappointing from a chef with this reputation. Cocktails were grossly over priced (martini) for the quantity of the pour. Music was suitable for a party of tween girls. I won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend it.

Being from Chicago, I was a bit skeptical about a restaurant at Navy Pier. But we have enjoyed Blue Door Kitchen and Garden and decided to give Reunion a try before heading to the 'theatre.' What a wonderful surprise! It's a lovely unpretentious space. We thoroughly enjoyed the prixe fix theatre menu. We started with the Division Bell cocktail, which was great, of course, with mezcal and a cherry. We had the deviled eggs and crab cake, both delicious Southern classics. Then we had the caesar salad and brussels sprouts with kale, again both delicious. The brussels sprout and kale were blended with pecans, bacon and parmesan. What's not to love about that combination? Then we had the spring pasta and the salmon with brussels sprouts and sweet potato (roasted and delicious). The salmon was cooked to perfection. The pasta was fresh and full flavored with rich pesto. I'm not a big fan of desserts but thoroughly enjoyed the hummingbird cupcake. Husband loved the key lime--the aroma alone was amazing. Half-price bottle of wine (Wednesdays, it seems) added to the enjoyment. And finally, our server was wonderful, and the chef warmly visited each table. Chef is humble, kind, and clearly very talented. We live in Chicago and will gladly return to Reunion, especially before enjoying a play.

We’ve been to Chef Art’s Homecomin in Florida, so we were quite excited to learn there was a similar restaurant in Chicago. The fried chicken was just as delicious as it is in Florida and our waitress was a delight. I forget her name, but she is originally from NJ.

Pre-theater dining on the pier. Three out of four of us went with the signature fried chicken dinner. If you want to splurge on a fried dinner, this is the place to do it. The coating was crispy without being greasy and the meat was moist and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were buttery and had a nice smooth texture. We were warned about the very generous portions of the desserts and were not disappointed. One delicious piece of key lime pie split four ways. A great end to our meal.

Music was excessively loud! It was so loud our waiter complained that it made it hard to hear our orders. We had difficulty hearing each other. We asked twice before they turned it down. The food is ok, not great, so the experience was negatively affected by the loud music. There is no need for loud music — it’s a restaurant not a concert!

If you are looking for a similar experience as Chef Art's in Orlando this menu unfortunately falls short. The food was solid but nothing worth revisiting.
