Cheever's Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Tonight we enjoyed an amazing meal and received great service from our fantastic waiter, Elliott, who suggested several menu favorites and provided a great dining experience for our family. We enjoyed a delicious cheese queso appetizer and lovely martinis that were reasonably priced. We loved the chicken fried steak (yes, it was huge and all that everyone has raved about) and shrimp and grits (also a customer fave). Both were incredibly delicious and the presentation was awesome, as well. Looking forward to our next trip to Cheevers and hopefully, next time, we will save room for the delicious pecan ice cream ball.
The food was very good. It wasn't quite excellent, as in the past, but it was very good.
The waiter was excellent, however. He had a thorough understanding of the menu, and he was attentive to our needs.
The seating was cramped. Seven of us were squeezed around two small tables. This didn't feel like typical Cheever's attention to detail. It may have been a product of poor planning by the hostess.
This was a highly anticipated dinner tonight. Perhaps my hopes were too high... I've actually had it bookmarked for awhile. The evening started "sub-par.". We made reservations on open table, yet were seated in the very back, left of the bar, next to a drafty kitchen door. We had to scoot by people just to get to the table. Not good. Also, took 45 minutes to get our food and the place wasn't even packed. Not acceptable. This would be the only reasons I don't go out of my way to return unless I'm in the area.
Food brought this up to 4 stars bc it was that good! But not enough to earn the elusive 5 star. First, warm rolls and a cool evening. Second, Juan's Quest Chihuahua... Thick, gooey cheese with pico, avocado, salsa Verde and black beans. Superb.
For our entrees my wife ordered the highly touted chicken fried steak with jalepeno creme sauce and fire roasted vegetables. Really big and filling, with seasoned crispy breading.
I ordered the molasses chicken breast w/ jalepeno au gratin potatoes and greens. Greens were good, not too salty and the potatoes reminded me of something my grandmother would make. The molasses chicken was piping hot, juicy, with the perfect blend of charred finish with a sweet glaze. Highly recommend!
At this point we were about to burst but couldnt leave without ordering the carrot cake, so we ordered it to go. When we got home, we looked at it and tried it. Maybe the best carrot cake ive had to date! Moist and large enough for a family!
....almost forgot about the drinks... Both great. If you're a bourbon or scotch drinker I would recommend the bandit. It's made with a splash of scotch, Buffalo Trace bourbon, honey and lemon.
My wife and I had plans for later with friends so celebrated New Years Eve in the afternoon. Everything about our meal was perfect. We were seated when we arrived and were treated like royalty by our waiter Max. When we had a question about a menu item Max brought us a sample. The entire meal was excellent and the service was personal and attentive. We are planning a return visit.
The seating is a little cramped, so I consistently start with a little pause. However - they consistently deliver a fabulous meal and experience that always overrides that minor flaw. The food and drink is outstanding! And the service is impeccable - repeatedly attentive and engaging servers! Love this place!
Great, as usual. Food and drinks were delicious. We have had the same spaced-out server three times now but it’s kind of become a funny tradition with my husband and I that this kid spaces out in the middle of sentences and is always our server. Hah. We love the calamari and shrimp and grits. My husband had the ham carbonara and it was delicious. Very cozy and we love the lighting. We will be back!
I’ve always had an amazing experience as Cheever’s is my favorite, but I was treating a group of ladies to celebrate our friends graduation, our waiter lacked interest in meeting our needs. When we handed him a dirty dish that was brought to use he said “it happens” that describes our overall experience with him. It surely won’t keep me from being a return guest, but I hope to be treated with a little more zeal.
Dinner was great, there were three of us and we all three got something different to try. The staff was flexible in letting us substitute our sides. Mara was very friendly and helpful with all the questions we had. We will all definitely come back again........
This was my first time I have tried Cheever’s. It was recommended to me by a friend. My family went to celebrate my birthday, and it was also Christmas Eve! We all ordered off of the brunch menu and just loved it! The food was excellent, and we loved the ambiance. My husband and I are planning a return trip for evening dining.
We went their for our 21st anniversary (a yearly tradition). Cheevers NEVER fails to live up to its reputation. The food is always outstanding and the service exceptional. This visit was no exception to an previous visit. Cheevers is one of the most consistently great restaurants in oklahoma city.
