Cheesetique - Del Ray
We’re a specialty cheese and wine shop. We’re a comfortable, cheese-centric restaurant. We’re all things to all cheese lovers, so join us to shop, dine, or both!
servers were very accommodating on splitting plates, providing tastes of wine. Good menu for lunch
Despite its rather small size, Cheesetique accommodated a group of five beautifully, with all our diverse food preferences and separate checks. Food and service were excellent, and who doesn't love cheese?
The service was great and I loved the time. Food was delicious. Wine was great.
Very good food.
This place has gone down hill in the past year. We had horrible service. The waitress clearly wasn't familiar with the food and couldn't answer questions about the cheese. We had to ask repeatedly for our wine, which eventually came AFTER the meal. Even though the restaurant was only 1/3 filled, an obnoxious couple was seated so close to us that our elbows kept bumping. We couldn't have a conversation because the people next to us were so close. There was a long wait for our food, and then we had to keep asking for things like silverware. The people next to us had similar service problems, receiving their grilled cheese sandwich and having to wait a long time and repeatedly ask for their tomato soup.
I talked to the manager, who didn't care about the poor service and didn't even apologize. Do yourself a favor and don't go to this restaurant. It isn't what it once was.
Hi there. I'm so sorry to hear that this was your experience. We had a ROUGH weekend in Del Ray and I can't apologize enough. I just sent you a private message. Would you please take a look? Thank you so much, Jill (owner, Cheesetique)
Great service but the food was extremely bland... needed flavor.
Tacos were bland.
Celebrating two birthdays.
Love Cheesetique. Never disappoints.
Enjoyed the Raclette experience
One of our favorite restaurants in the area. We have been twice and are eagerly looking forward to our third visit. The food is a little pricey but honestly fairly competitive for the area and worth the overall experience, in my opinion. Two points to keep in mind: it is always better to make a reservation if possible as the dinning area is not huge (which certainly adds to the cosiness and intimacy) and tends to fill up quickly and, if you do not like the smell of cheese, this is not the place for you (as the front is an excellent cheese shop). It receives extra points for the amazing wall art in the entry dinning area. 8.5/10 would recommend!
arrived Sat eve at our appointed reservation time. we were seated quickly. we were told that three cheese mongers had called in sick this evening and therefore restaurant were not pushing the raclette special this month but it would still be available if we wanted. We did and they then brought the raclette menu. We enjoyed it. One should be a fan of potatoes and melted cheese for this raclette. Overall the restaurant /cheese shop are adorable gourmet style - and we look forward to returning again for Raclette Month, as well as other cheeses.
Thank you so much for joining us and I'm thrilled you enjoyed the Raclette. I'm just sorry it wasn't offered to you immediately, but thank you for being persistent! We hope to see you again soon. RacletteFest continues through the end of the month! All the best, Jill (owner, Cheesetique)
We all enjoyed our food, wine flights and the atmo
Great experience! Excellent food and service! Also it was not too loud, easy to hear the person next to you!
We love this restaurant. The food was amazing as always but the service was unexpectedly disappointing. Our waiter was not attentive at all; we had to remind him to bring drinks, we had to get our own small plates for our starters (from an empty table nearby) and in fact he stopped coming by our table at all halfway through the meal. When someone else came to clear our plates we had to ask for refills on drinks and this second person brought the bill. I am not sure what happened here, and we will go back because we love the food, but I have come to expect much better service from this restaurant.
Cheesetique was a nice experience. Had the lobster mac and The Brie and Pearsciutto grilled cheese sandwich w/o the prosciutto and my husband had the lasagna. The mac n cheese was good but I didn’t taste the lobster, so next time I won’t waste money and I’ll get the plain one. My grilled cheese wasn’t all that great but not bad. My husband said the lasagna was good.
The space is quite tight so if you’re claustrophobic DO NOT go. The bar area seats approximately 10 ppl (where we sat) and the seating area may seat 30 ppl but it’ll be tight.
Otherwise, I’d go again because I love cheese and the food wasn’t bad. They also sell cheese and wine which you get a discount for if you ate at the restaurant. 😁
If you like cheese this is the place. If we are in the mode for cheese and great drinks this is our go to place. The food is great and they always have a wonderful special. Sitting in the back room is our favorite.
As a point, one of the special entrées was ordered by one of our party and after about 10 minutes the server came back and said the kitchen informed him that that was no longer available. The person re-ordered which was fine but the waiter and manager decided that we should have an extra bottle of wine for the price of a glass because of the issue of not getting what they wanted. This is amazing service and I felt like they went beyond what was called for in the situation. Thank you cheesetique for a lovely night
Compared to other restaurant week menus, having two pieces of dried up cheese on a board with some fruit, a small serving of mac and cheese/grilled cheese and a small chocolate mousse for $22 felt like a rip off.
It was a good dinner except we expected to eat in the back which is a nicer atmosphere and a quieter room. We were out in the open in the 'store' which is fine for lunch but not for a nice dinner.
Love this place, but second time we had really slow service and food was delivered lukewarm.
Our server, Joseph, took very good care of us. We enjoyed our French onion soup, spinach salad, chicken saltimbocca, and pimento grilled cheese. The wine that Joseph recommended went well with our choices. We had a very enjoyable evening.
Cheesetique was fabulous! The food was awesome! We went for brunch and loved the menu selection. I would also love to go at dinner to try that menu as well. The place is charming!
Amazing romantic place to eat lovely cheese and wine!
Food was pretty good but service was terrible. We were told they were out of something, ordered a different dish and were then served (and paid) for both. Wrong dishes brought out including Mac n cheese with lobster instead of vegetarian to a table with a vegetarian and two shellfish allergies. Everything took forever and bill was wrong.
A free dessert was offered for the lack of our service. Thank you!
It was a very disappointing dining experience. The wine was a bit overpriced given the variety they had. I have 2 food allergies and was informed modifications could not be made to the entrees which greatly limited my options. The service was terrible with one of our servers spilling quite a bit of wine on the table because she was in such a bother. It was just very disappointing over all.
Cheesetique is a cozy, intimate experience. The cheesesteak and the mac & cheese were delicious. Great wine selection too. Having a suggested wine pairing for each menu item is a welcome addition. For an added bonus, dining with them earns a discount from their wonderful selection of cheeses in the storefront.
Our group of 8 met in the quiet and charming back room. The food was terrific but unfortunately the service was very spotty and extremely slow. Perhaps they were understaffed...?
Nice lunch, Maggie wonderful waitress. Relaxed atmosphere enjoyed during Christmas rush.
We went for brunch. Food was fantastic! Bloody mary was only ok.
Most laid back of the other locations which is why I like it
The server was not bad at all. Probably just needs some training to be more aware of where we were in the meal and getting the table cleared. the back room at the Del Ray location is super comfortable and quaint. You feel like you are in a speakeasy or the like. Thanks for a great evening Cheesetique!
I LOVE this place! It was so cozy! I always get the same thing and I'm ok with that, don't ever take the Grown Up Grilled Cheese off the menu! Oh - my Malbec was fab, too! THANK YOU!!!!
Very good food and drinks. Nice warm environment. The staff was busy but very nice and helpful.
Reserved a able and it was ready when we arrived.
Food was good but not exceptional. I think they emphasize their cheeses more than the food around the cheese.
Busy day. Service was very good but not always available.
Fabulous food, just what we needed on a cold night. Great wine and warm cheese
Needed to hide out during trick or treat.
Everything was great - our server was wonderful and helped to make it an enjoyable evening.
We had to remind the waiter about our last dish, which he forgot to put the ticket in, so we had to wait for a while for the last dish to come out. He did not apologize for the wait or for the service. Unprofessional.
We love this place. Good food. Good wine. Good service.
