The server my friend and I had was extremely soft spoken and that made it a little difficult to communicate with her. The food took a little while longer to come out than I expected, but overall the deal was good. We did the DC Restaurant Week meal for two, and shared a bottle of wine - overall a pretty good price for value.
The food was amazing in both taste and creativity. We ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese (incredible! sweetness of lobster was delish, nicely cheesy but not too cheesy), Pork Hash (not what you think and fabulous!!), Sides of Bacon (thick and crispy), Regular Mac (minus the truffle breadcrumbs... for one of the kiddos) and Extra Home Fries. The waitress was very patient and helpful with our varied food allergies, as well as in accommodating our request for a small plate of fruit for my girls (grapes and Asian pear). I rated the Overall Ambiance as "Good" only because once the place heated up a bit a live piano was being played and quite honestly it dominated the space. Our older daughter (14) is on the Autism Spectrum and was very comfortable until the piano started up. Then she just wanted to leave... which we were ready to do anyway, so that worked out well in the end.
Great menu, nice atmosphere for causal dining and happy hour. Would go back again!
The reason we keep coming back is because we love their food and are cheese fanatics. However our experience this time was terrible.
The service was extremely slow for a moderately busy lunch hour. By no means was the restaurant "slammed" - as the hostess explained as a reason to why it took 50 minutes to receive two sandwiches. I've visited this location many times and know to expect slow service (we often order and ask for our check at the same time). However, this time the fault lies with the kitchen and the prioritizing of "take out" orders over those in the dining room. It took two hours to complete our lunch and my dining companion had to take hers to go back to the office when it arrived.
Excellent service and food. The charcuterie platter and cheese boards were scant on food volume, but tasty. The music was pretty loud, but if we shouted we could hear across the table.
I tried this place randomly for lunch a few weeks back and really enjoyed it. I decided to give their brunch a try with a friend and was disappointed. I had the classique and my friend had the green eggs & ham. He said his meal was good, but his hashbrown side left something to be desired. My bacon came out a bit over cooked and my eggs were watery. Even so, the service was good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and I do plan on going back, just not for brunch
The service was very slow and unreliable. We had to remind our server of multiple things, a couple of times each. The food was fine and the cheese selection was okay. Sitting on the outside patio was lovely, though!
Great grilled cheese and "mac 'n cheese". Great cheese, period. And lots of it!
Service was fantastic.
Great spot for brunch! Start with a cheeseboard and bottomless mimosas.
It was great! The first time going and it was an awesome/delicious experience! Definitely want to go again!
I was very impressed with the food and even the service! I definitely recommend going!!
Love the hibiscus mimosa! It was fun to be in a bigger, open space where I could make a reservation in advance. Although the Cheesetique in Shirlington is closer, it has less space and I don't believe they take reservations. This was bright, airy, and a nice change of pace.
Absolutely must order the Cheesecake!
Absolutely delicious. So good, that after we had breakfast there, we made a point of coming back for dinner!! I wish there was one of these near our home!
We had a Sunday Brunch and it was great. Coffee was good and the cheese board(5 cheeses for party of 4) was a great way to start the brunch. The french toast was very good but light so eaten with the cheeses you felt comfortable not stuffed. Other items where ordered and everyone reported satisfaction with their meal.
We were seated quickly, clean place, friendly staff, good service. My meal was just not good at all for the price of it. My daughters was a little better than mine. I won’t be going back
My girls took me here for Mother's Day knowing I love all things cheese. We all got different things and shared. I've been a couple of times and I've always liked everything I've tried. I love that they have gluten free options that taste good. Also I really enjoyed the chocolate mousse.
This was our third and probably final visit to Cheesetique Ballston. While or server was friendly, she sucked at the same time. When not waiting tables she was on her phone. We had to ask three time for the status of our cheese tray...seriously if they can’t put together a cheese tray in a timely manner they should not be in business. My husband ordered a second glass of wine which never came. We also had to asked on the status of our Brussels sprouts once our cheese tray finally arrived...at which time our son was basically done with his sandwich. Food is decent but not good enough for the price points they are charging and service has been pretty bad on our last two visits. Too many option in Ballston to spend any more money here.
Fantastic food, great wine, and exceptional service.
We love this restaurant! The service is great, and the wine and food are delicious. The spinach artichoke dip if fabulous. Our table of four shared several items which allowed us to all try several dishes. The arugula salad and the mac ‘n cheese were also very good. This restaurant is quickly becoming one of our neighborhood favorites!!
Love trivia night at Cheesetique. Food is sooooo much better than the usual trivia venue, and pour house is a fun trivia set up. Some of the waiters even participate in trivia!
It was National Grilled Cheese Day so evidently, it was very busy prior to us arriving. A bartender came to take our order, but then passed us off to the rest of the wait staff, so no one really felt responsible for us. We never received a glass of wine and a side dish that we ordered. Our salads came without any dressing. It was hard to get anyone’s attention the whole time. Food was great, as usual.
First time at this location and first time bringing our young kids here (for National Grilled Cheese Day). I was happily surprised that they were not only tolerant of young kids, but were prepared with toys and books and a kids menu. I will definitely be back (maybe not with the kids next time!).
It was a great experience, great food and friendly staff
Great! Love the food and wine, the service was good and it wasn’t too noisy despite it being trivia night. Highly recommend!
I was a little underwhelmed with this place. Their cheeses are great, but their brunch was mediocre. Add to the fact that parking is difficult in this area, there really isn't a reason to make your way into this area to go to this restaurant unless you live around the area.
Cute modern spot -- i went there for Sunday Brunch and they were out of the things I wanted due to their overflow from Saturday Brunch. The menu is very unique but most brunch selections are pretty basic. The cheese board selections are pretty pricey but I was only there for the real food. I ordered green eggs and ham which were pretty good but I was expected it look like the Dr. Seuss version :)
Service was great, food has been very good each time and very reasonable on price for places around the area
Another awesome brunch at this restaurant. The food is excellent, the ambiance is nice, and the prices okay. Highly recommend.
The Sassy Goat was fantastic!!
Friendly service, fabulous cheese and meat plates. A little pricy fit a fun splurge.
The cheese plate was one of the best over ever had. Specifically the salami and the honey. Drinks were good and in general the restaurant was very family friendly.
My husband and I took our toddler there for brunch and the staff was incredibly thoughtful and accommodating with his order. Not to mention, the food is fantastic!
Went to Cheesetique after wine tasting at Total Wine around the corner. Restaurant reasonably crowded. Interesting menu based on various cheese dishes. We opted for innovative cheese sandwiches and chardonnay. Good wine selection by the glass or bottle. You also have the option of selecting individual cheeses for a cheeseboard. We'll go back.
Jessica was great! The spinachoke dip was delicious. The steak and Brussels sprouts was disappointing. There was a large party next to us that was very loud. So was the music. Still, we’ll be back.
We shared three of the small plates. They were delicious and it was more than enough. Highly recommended.
Had the board with 6 items: 3 meats, 3 cheeses which come with very small enhancements, such as honey, jam, gherkins, hot pepper. Gave us more bread and crackers when asked. Salamis and cheeses were very tasty. Had wine flights which were good. Overall a nice choice in the neighborhood, but the noise level can be deafening when there are more than a few tables filled.
Just amazing. Never had food like that. Perfect service also.
Excellent staff. Great food. Wonderful space.
