Cheers at The Old Post Office
About the Building
Built in 1911, this historic building began its important role in the Fayetteville community as the city Post Office. In 1974 it was saved from demolition by a citizen-led petition, and gained National Historic status. We are honored to continue the tradition of bringing people together and celebrating the citys history in the beautiful Old Post Office.
Moist and loaded with crab, seared and served with a chipotle lime aioli
Grilled Salmon Salad
Romaine and Fresh Spinach with dried cranberries, cucumbers, strawberries, tomatoes, onions and sugared pecans
Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, bacon, turkey, and egg, dried sweet corn, and choice of dressing
Service, food and atmosphere were great.
Wow we were so excited to get to go to the OPO after reading reviews. The food was fantastic and the building is super cool but we have never waited so long for food, or had a waitress be so curt when we asked what the status was or our
food ( after we had been waiting 50 minutes.)
We arrived just before 7:30 and were seated right away. Or waitress arrived very soon and took both our drink and food orders. We waited, and waited, and waited, and watched two tables seated 15 and 20 minutes after us get all of there food. Finally we asked what the status of our food was and pointed out that tables that arrived long after us were well into their meals. The waitress said “ we have an open kitchen and you can stand up and see for yourself what meals are out.” Are you kidding me? How about, I am so sorry for the delay, let me go check on your food,. I have waited tables at 5 restaurants, never in a million years would I have expected that. About 5 minutes later our meal came. We all had shrimp and our meal arrived 55 minutes after we were seated. And zero apology or desire to help us in our frustration. Great food, great ambiance, horrible service. We left very frustrated which is not OK.
Our server was very attentive and friendly.
I would go to Cheers for the environment. It's a really cool building and has a great ambience. The service was great and the food was good.
Always enjoy Cheers!
Service was fantastic and food was great. I’ll definitely make this one of my regular spots to take my out of town visitors.
Party of 6 and we loved everything we ordered. The bbq shrimp were perfect. The wait staff was very helpful and did a great job taking care of us. Also it was fun calling the Hogs when we made a touchdown against Texas!
Game day brunch!
First time eating here. Lunch food was great - my husband had shrimp po’boy and I had steak salad (with steak cooked to order). Absolutely will be back.
Wow! Delicious food at a great price. We had 2 teenage boys with us and they said it was their favorite restaurant of the weekend! The atmosphere was nice but not snooty. Highly recommend the cheese grits as a side!
We had the fried green tomato appetizer and the catfish dinner. Service and food were excellent.
Fun venue, enjoyable and unique food options with great service. Love this Downtown Fayetteville favorite!
Great service and food . We will be back!
The food at Cheers was ok—a mix of bistro pub and Cajun and Creole. Our service was so so with low attention to empty glasses and ensuring a kitchen error was addressed. Be cautious about descriptions of the limited gluten free items identified on the menu as a GF. Go for the ambiance in the old post office and try the bbq shrimp.
We have always loved Cheers, but the last time we went it was just ok. We decided to give it one more chance. The food was bland, the chicken was burned and the grits were dry. No more brunch here for us.
Our food was excellent. We loved the ambiance and location. Our server was super friendly but didn’t come by very often and didn’t mention the dessert we picked would take 20-25 mins. It was very loud and hard to hear and talk.
Food was good. Service was average. They must have had air conditioning issues because it was warm inside
Second time eating here, great food, very friendly staff. Love the ambience of the old building!
The wait staff was awesome! We waited almost an hour for our food!
Service was courteous and professional, food was excellent, and the drinks were great. Will definitely be back.
Brunch food is amazing & the service is wonderful! 10/10
We had a great dinner. My new Orleans pasta came out cold and wasn't very good. They made it right and brought me fried shrimp. Everything else was fantastic.
Very attentive waiter, nice restaurant atmosphere, below average food. We ordered fried artichoke hearts as an appetizer. There was more breading than artichoke making each piece very crunchy and over fried. We had more pieces of fried coating on or dish than there were artichokes. It looked like they dumped the entire fry basket bottom on our plate. Horrible and overpriced at $10. I didn’t learn from my artichoke purchase as I ordered fried catfish. What a mistake. Again more over fried coating than fish. Horrible. Hush puppies over cooked making the outside too thick and chewy. My wife had the creole pasta. She was very disappointed and said if it wasn’t for the salt she added there wasn’t any flavor. I tasted and agreed. Note we travel for a living and eat out every day so we have many positive reviews of other Fayetteville restaurants for comparison to Cheers. Maybe fried is not their forte but neither is creole pasta.
We celebrate two birthdays and Cheers was an amazing experience!
Love the OPO!
Great menu and cool setting. Kept charm of old post office while bring in classic and blended modern features.
Great food and great service. The fried artichoke hearts are amazing!
Our food and drinks were delicious! Pricing is very reasonable for quality of food. We loved it!
Great food. Great place. Servers were slow for some reason
Decent meal, great service. Timing was a little fast paced, app was dropped at our table then immediately salad and entree.
Cool place with decent food - slightly above average but the atmosphere is nice.
Excellent dinners and good drinks. Always a great meal in a fun environment
Great cocktails and ambiance - food was great, BUT - the collard greens were so salty none of us could eat them (don’t skip this restaurant on that detail though) - I honestly think it must have been a “mistake” batch or something because none of us are that sensitive to salty foods. The service was awesome and it’s the perfect location
We loved seeing a first class restaurant in the OPO! My only concern was that with our table for four the background noise drowned out much of our conversation.
The ambience of the old post office is fine. The restaurant has high ceilings and open space so we didn’t feel crowded but made it hard to feel like an intimate date. The decor is sparse and and a little boring. The waiter was friendly, kind and attentive. Tortilla chips were brought to our table but were just plain chips, no salsa or dip so I thought that was a little odd. The entrees we preserved were fresh, hot and flavorful. My French dip was the best I’ve ever had! Dessert was their homemade banana pudding which was overly sweet and kinda bland. Music was a little too loud for a romantic dinner and there was outside seating when we checked in because they don’t seat people outside Sunday pm apparently. It was a nice date but not sure it’s a place that would be our top choice. It needs a little more imagination with its food and its space to match the friendliness and creative vibe of Fayetteville.
Our favorite “go to” local restaurant for an excellent dinner & night out. Excellent service and consistently great food. Located on the beautiful Downtown Fayetteville Square, which we always take a walk around the square after dinner. Downtown Fayetteville is a treasure in Northwest Arkansas.
We arrived and the host interrupted me to start as we checked in to answer the phone. Then I stood there while she talked to a customer on the phone versus asking them to hold as we were in the process of being helped. Physically there.
We were seated at a small table, not appropriate a business lunch, as I had indicated on the reservation. We were also sat in the separate room to the left of the main dining area. The main area appeared to have a great ambiance. The room we were sat in left much to be desired. Maybe good for a private party, but not a business lunch. Note, the main area was not full, plenty of open tables.
The service- was awful! We seemed to be forgotten about to start. Finally was given attention only to sit through lunch with empty glasses and missing waitress during our time there.
Food- was good
Dessert- ordered dessert and coffee. My carrot cake ever arrived, my business guests were given theirs. My coffee was old and luke warm.
Overall- place has potential. Service was poor at best.
Great food wonderful atmosphere. The staff attentive without being too intrusive,.
Cheers is the best date night venue in Fayetteville. They have such a great variety of food, as well as centrally located. We love eating dinner here and happy hour at the Vault.
