Cheers at The Old Post Office
About the Building
Built in 1911, this historic building began it's important role in the Fayetteville community as the city Post Office. In 1974 it was saved from demolition by a citizen-led petition, and gained National Historic status. We are honored to continue the tradition of bringing people together and celebrating the city's history in the beautiful Old Post Office.
Good food. Great service. Very friendly staffers.
Great casual atmosphere and great casual food! Great place to sit, relax, and enjoy your friends. Food was very solid and offered a wide variety! Will definitely go back when I return to Fayetteville.
Great service. Will go back soon! Perfect spot for celebrating a birthday.
Great food and ambiance
Food was ok, nothing spectacular. Waitress was slow and forgot about us often.... maybe low staffing levels? Carrot cake was like eating sand, don’t order. Have had better here, was disappointed but will try again.
We arrived early and were seated promptly at a very nice table location. Our waiter was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We both enjoyed our entrees and the appetizer was delicious.
We had a lovely dinner at Cheers. The service was attentive. Food was delicious. I had the scallops, my husband had the ribeye with crab cakes for a starter. All well prepared and tasty. It is a bit noisy and we are hard of hearing so I would ask for a booth or quieter table (we were in the middle) the next time we go.
so cool and huge restaurant!! lot’s of different food options!
We say our table for 10 minutes before a server acknowledged us. Then another server brought us someone else good because she clearly didn’t know the table numbers. Then our food can put before our appetizer which our server clearly forgot. He then brought it after our meals where over and it was cold. The actually meals which we did eat were pretty good and the saving grace of the whole disaster.
Mashed potatoes and filet were salty. Filet was also dry and not wrapped in bacon as advertised. Greens were too sweet and not flavorful. Fried green tomatoes were excellent.
Very enjoyable experience. Loved the ambiance of the building and everything inside. We had very good service. Flavor of food and drinks was very good. There are other things I want to go back and try (we had steak). The only thing that felt weird, was no bread with dinner. For a place with food like this, we thought maybe there should have been? Its mid ranged price so its not like were robbed or anything. I want to go back on a less busy night to see what its like then. Maybe look around more.
Nice supper on the square. Love the location.
We had reservations for Valentine's Day. Our table was within 5 ft.of the hostess stand and front door. Food just so-so, definitely not worth the price. Sweet server who appeared to have too many tables to serve. Overall not a high end restaurant. Perhaps the quality of the food was the most disappointing. Marking Cheers off our list.
Excellent service and food. Attentive waiter, very patient with our weird receipt requests (dinner was part of a job interview for a UA position, so it was complicated). Fried artichoke hearts to die for; same for grilled shrimp and fries. It was too noisy for what we were doing; a corner and/or round table would have worked better. Great job! We will be bringing other candidates for dinner!
The food ,drinks and service are great. Try the crab cakes when you go! One of our favorite spots in Fayetteville.
Despite having a reservation, we were seated downstairs in the casual area rather than in the main restaurant area. The temperature in the room was 62 degrees according to the thermostat on the wall. They had electric radiators around but they were not working. Everyone in this level of the restaurant was wearing our coats. It was freezing. The food was good. The service was very slow and the bar couldn’t keep up with the drink orders. Maybe they can iron out these issues and improve but we will look elsewhere next time.
Great food. Our waitress was fantastic. Good atmosphere. Located in an old post office.
We had one member of our party of 6 receive their food 10 minutes after the rest of us. My salad was not chopped as described on menu and steak over cooked
Very nice and delicious.
Fresh and delicious food. Excellent service.
Cheers was “ok” at best. The seating is so odd I literally had to sit right on top of the people next to me. The food was just ok, with the portion sizes of the appetizers being inexcusably small and dinners being drenched in sauce. I wasn’t as impressed as I was hoping to be.
The service was great! I just felt that the food was extremely overpriced for the quality of it.
I love the atmosphere of this place and we had a great server last night. I was disappointed that, since I had made a reservation a week prior, and there were plenty of four-tops available, the host tried to stick us into a corner of a dead zone of the restaurant far from the center. When I asked to be moved to a better table, they said there were people coming in soon with reservations. Hello! I had a reservation, I was already there, and so why couldn’t I have one of those tables? They finally gave in, but I don’t understand why I have to beg and why they would tell me that.
Second, I ordered gelato for dessert and it was crunchy icy and tasted like chocolate ice milk pops. Like when your ice cream at home thaws and refreezes. The food overall was very good as usual but the gelato was the most disappointing I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
This is the second time I have been there and it was just as good as expected. Each time there is something I could not get on the menu because I could not eat any more food that makes me come back again. Staff is great, food awesome and the experience is top notch
Really busy day before an early hog game but the service was quick and accurate. No complaints
Before Razorback game
Very nice experience. Waitress was Awesome!!, food was really tasty and well prepared. Nice size portions. Salad was really terrific. I also thought the prices were fair. The restaurant itself is Gorgeous! I would definitely recommend it and am planning to go back there soon!
The food took way too long to come out to the table. More than an hour.
Had reservations and was sat in the basement. Very open and loud with no ambience. Food was very fair at best. Was hoping for a better experience for an anniversary dinner.
Fun place to eat!
We chose this restaurant for my birthday celebration because I had heard great things and the location was perfect, to see the Fayetteville square Christmas lights. But long story short, Our food was terrible. My husband ordered the seabass, and for a $32 price tag, we assumed they knew what they were doing. But it was the worst piece of seabass we have ever had a a restaurant. There were several small, thin pieces of seabass, they looked like they had been frozen, and looked like Tilapia filets. My salmon salad had dried, shredded, salmon that tasted like it was out of a can.
Our friends steak took forever to come out, when we all had our food, and then when it did, it was burnt. The presentation of all of it was very sub par.
We won’t be going back.
Really nice restaurant with a great ambiance no matter the occasion. Food was 7/10 and the prices were fair. The Old Fashioned was also very tasty. This is a really solid place to have dinner or drinks. I think they need to add a happy hour a few days per week.
This place came as highly recommended so I guess that’s why I was disappointed. The menu was very lackluster. Nothing exciting like you see on my hip new restaurant menus. The shishito peppers were good and I was happy that they had 3 types of mescal in the bar. I had the Cobb salad for dinner and an overcooked baked potato. The ambiance is super cool but to me, that doesn’t make up for just ok food. For the same price, I recommend having dinner the restaurant in Carnall Hall. The food there was the best we had while in Fayetteville.
Food was ok. I should’ve ordered something different I think. Mine was cold and not really very good.
Food and drinks very tasty as always. Beautifully decorated for Christmas!
Our server was excellent. She took our order quickly, delivered our food very quickly, and checked on us often. Our food was delicious!! For an appetizer, we had the cheese dip and chips- very tasty. I had the fried shrimp with loaded baked potato- soooo many shrimp, and my husband had a shrimp pasta dish, I think, - but we both ate every bite!! My only suggestion would be to offer bread or a roll with the meal.
I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to my friends.
The guacamole had no flavor. Mac-n-cheese was too spicy for my kids to eat. Asparagus was burned. Kid's burger was minuscule. Kids left hungry. Tiny water glasses-had to keep refilling. Overall, less than impressed with food and won't be back any time soon. Had a good waitress.
