Checkers Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Everything was great except for my steak frites. Steak was tough. The graciously comped the meal Plus gave me a gift card. Wife’s calamari and divers scallops were excellent as was the Onion soup. Cocktails were very good. First time we have ever had a problem.
It was a little difficult to find but its in end of a shopping center but definitely worth the effort
The service was impeccable and attentive. The lobster bisque was delicious. Great Bread crusty with a soft center. I had the scallops and leeks with a side of spinach . The scallops were done to perfection and the creamed leeks were a perfect compliment to the scallops. I finished the meal with a praline/chocolate mousse torte and French pressed coffee. Yummy
I will definitely be back
This place never disappoints. The food is fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented and they do very creative and healthy accompaniments that enhance the entree. Cocktails are always made just the way you want and the service is attentive without being intrusive.
The food was great and our server was very pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately they did not have steak knives and my husband had a steak. I thought for a fine dining restaurant with three steak options on the menu it was odd that there were no steak knives. They also didn’t have BBQ sauce. If you have french fries you might want to consider having some BBQ in case people don’t care for ketchup. Other than that everything was excellent! We will definitely be back again!
This was my first time at the restaurant and I was extremely thrilled with everything ranging from the specials to the ambiance. The service was just right as well, ensuring the ability to have a great time with my date. Also, you can add a little fun to the date by requesting special writing on dessert plates, which they accommodate for, and it was fun to see my date's smile from that too! Definitely will go there again the next time I am in Lancaster.
Not our first time at Cherckers, service this time however was less than stellar. The server, might have been new, never checked back with us about our meals nor offered additional breads (which my husband really enjoys), nor did he ask about refreshing our drinks. We will think twice about going back.
We have been here a few times and have always had excellent service and delicious food. This time, it was so loud that our wait staff could not hear us and we could not hear them. Also, the food was not up to Checker's usual standards. The haricot verts were difficult to cut not to mention chew, and the filet was not cooked correctly even after being sent back. I know we'll be back one day.
We had the most amazing and lovely dinner at Checkers on Sunday evening. We asked for a quiet table far away from the bar and received the lovely gift of a table in an empty room where we could have a wonderful conversation with our friends. The service was unobtrusive but attentive and prompt. The apple salad delighted my husband's discriminating taste, the veal with risotto special filled my mouth with an explosion of wonderful flavors. One friend is gluten and dairy intolerant and enjoyed the entrée recommended for her. The warm apple cranberry cake dessert was the perfect finish. The meals were somewhat expensive (and we think $5.00 for a cup of coffee or tea seems a bit much) but we had a great experience.
Our service and food quality were very good. Nothing outstanding. When I made the reservation for the four of us, I was asked if this was a special occasion. I said that we were celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary of friends. We were picking up the tab. Our server said, "I see that this is a 50th wedding anniversary. Congratulations." We ordered drinks, salads, entrees, and desserts. I had expected, because of Checkers being somewhat upscale, that our friends would have received SOMETHING gratis. Just "Congratulations." Very unusual when the lady on the phone asked about this being a special occasion. After paying our bill of $240.00 (inclusive of the gratuity) I feel that there really is nothing special about Checkers. It was very good, but that's it.
We've been the Checkers Bistro multiple times. We always are pleased and return when we are in town. As always the food was fantastic, unfortunately on this trip the service wasn't. We were seated at our reservation time and promptly ordered and received our drinks. Our salads came out in a timely manner but that is where it ended. Once our salad plates were cleared we sat for more than 45 minutes waiting for our entrees. We watched tables that came in after us being served but we were not. After about 40 minutes we were looking for our server to ask if there was a problem and to consider cancelling our order. He could not be found. It almost felt as if he was avoiding our table. At about 55 minutes our entrees arrived. The food runner apologized for the delay without us saying a word so obviously there was some sort of issue. We would have appreciated our server coming to let us know what was going on. The next time our server came to us he just asked if our food was good, which it was but never a comment about the wait. When asked if we wanted dessert we just simply replied it was too late. Hoping this was a one time thing because the food is absolutely delicious. We would love to return but just would appreciate some communication from the staff.
Met my friend for Brunch. The food was excellent and service was as well. The tables are nicely spaced and the restaurant is fairly large. It was easy for us to have private conversation. Atmosphere is very nice - dark and comfy, pretty. Very nice bar area - we didn't hang out in there but it was nice. Our waitress worked hard to make sure our requests were met and she was willing to offer her opinion on things when asked. Very enjoyable Sunday afternoon. I would definitely go back. I also had the wine special of the day which was very good.
The restaurant is nice and the service was good. However, as someone from NY City who is used to eating really well, the food here is just ok. The steak frites are not as good as advertised. I was actually surprised at the lack of flavor. They were pretty bland.
