Excellent food and service. Dinner was very flavorful and our waitress was top notch. I wish more places hired staff like this.
Great ambiance! Great service and nice menu!! It was our first time there and plan to go again. Thanks!
Food portions okay. But service slow. Food very good
We have been coming here for many many years and this was the first time that we all were just a little bit disappointed with our food. Some of it came out cold. It wasn’t quite as delicious as always and the drinks were definitely not as good. Because we’ve been loyal customers we will come back. Hopefully this night was just a fluke
Lovely setting and great food. Service was excellent
Very consistently good all around! We’ve been there for lunch, dinner, anniversary, drinks at the bar........all great!
We were promptly seated and then had to wait 20 minutes before we were approached to take our drink order and then another twenty minutes between coarses. A little long! That’s not to say that our wait was uneventful. First, a waiter came by to bring me a coffee cup (before I even got my first drink!). Then another waiter tried to give me a glass of wine...unfortunately I had yet to even have the opportunity to order my first drink. Our first course was very nice. Then came our main course. My partners cole slaw that came with the salmon was inedible. The waiter was very obliging and offered to substitute with asparagus (which arrived after our meal was finished and our plates cleared), but the gesture was thoughtful. The mashed potatoes which came with my entree were swimming in a very salty sauce..again inedible. I chose to just stop eating and take my meat only home. The crime brûlée which we shared for dessert was tasty, but soupy. All in all disappointing experience and meal.
CHECKERS BISTRO is one of our "go to: spots in Lancaster. The food is consistently excellent, the service very good and the location, just a few minutes from downtown, is great.
Many time diner at Checkers....always excellent! Highly Recommended!
Checkers menu never disappoints and is my "go to place" whenever entertaining clients or friends.
Excellent service! Sat at a private booth that still gave the ambiance of the restaurant without having to see another table. The waiter was very friendly and attentive and the restaurant gave a special treat for our special occasion.
Not very French cuisine.
The food was average. It was not on par with the pricing and in general had just a bit too much oil. Salad slightly overdressed and gnocchi was dry and crisped yet still in a small puddle of oil.
However, the service made up for any gripes with the food.
Second visit within a month --very disappointing.
Ordered the salad special -- tuna overcooked and potatoes almost raw.
Will not be back
Had a wonderful dinner here and already looking forward to going back!
Great experience from everyone involved and the food was great.
Overall, the whole dining experience was fantastic. I love that they take reservations and the service was outstanding. Will definitely be going here again soon!
Fantastic service, unmatched in Lancaster County. Laura and the team made us feel welcomed and cared for. Duck Tacos are exceptionally tasty. I will return for more. Tuna Frites were a Table favorite.
The scallops are a must have here!
Great atmosphere and wine list.
I loved it! My girlfriend was very happy to spend her birthday dinner here.
The scallop entree was lacking something... it was over leaks and that was a little overwhelming....needed another vegetable or starch.
Great food! All of our meals were fantastic! Didn’t feel rushed at all. Wonderful waitress and was very friendly.
Our group of 4 met to celebrate a birthday, as well as old friends. Our dinners were excellent, two of us ordered the diver scallops with a leek sauce, absolutely delicious, tuna, and our 4th ordered two small plates of onion soup followed by calamari. All in our party raved about the meal.
We have been to Checkers Bistro numbers of times and would recommend this restaurant without reservation. Excellent food, well priced, beautiful presentation.
We get up to Lancaster once a year and always book a dinner at Checkers Bistro. Wouldn't miss it. The food is always top-notch as is the service and ambiance.
Excellent Negroni cocktails and duck tacos to die for. Enjoyed beet and goatcheese salad as well as a cauliflour sauteed in honey.
We had good food and a very nice time. Our server was not very good, he just did not seem to be there when we needed him. The place is very nice and it was more quiet than some of the places we have been to recently. Good for conversation.
Loved the decor and atmosphere - very relaxing. Food was creative and very good. Service was excellent.
tried this restaurant because of consistent good reviews and as the only regional wine spectator selection. Pleasant and quiet venue and as expected good wine selection. Appetizers and entrees we tried were average at best. Filet minion was not of top quality, calamari appetizer over cooked. Sauces all seemed sweet. Not bad, just not to my liking. Pleasant, but disappointing food.
Great atmosphere, service and food!
Will be back soon
Great place for food prior to a play at The Fulton!
Great atmosphere and the food is usually exceptional. Wonderful service.
Took my wife to Checkers on Harrisburg Avenue for her Birthday. We loved the food. Great lobby staff. Great waitress. Great atmosphere. My wife had the swordfish & highly recommends. I had the filet with spevial sauce with asparagus & stacked potatoes. All three were delicious. Great chef. Portions were just right. Left feeling satisfied as I like it not overfed. Profitrroles were fantastic & concluded our meals perfectly. Thank you Checkers.
Ate at the bar. The app came out fairly quick but the main course took 25 min after app.. the bartenders were more interested in talking to owner/ manager than provide good service. Would not come back. Next day I played golf w a couple of guys and they said that was par for the restaurant
Very nice little French/American style restaurant. Good service, good food, good atmosphere, not too loud. Its a solid goto, a notch or two above your typical American style restaurant!! Small, moderate to expensive wine list, but enjoyable wines "non the less".
Although we have enjoyed Checkers Bistro very much in the past, this was a huge disappointment. We were there for our 45th Anniversary, the service was very slow. The Steak I had was a huge disappointment. The deserts were exceptional, but did not make up for the experience. As I said this was a special occasion, and you don't want to blow a special occasion. I suspect I won't be going back, which is a shame because it had been very high on our list at one time. They had plenty of staff on hand, and really didn't appear very busy. Maybe there's a reason for that.
Excellent service and great food! David Payne is just so friendly and it’s a great atmosphere.
Surprisingly great dinner!!
Upon arrival, there was no hostess to seat us for our reservations. We waited 10 minutes before we went and found someone to help us. Once seated, however, the food and service was fantastic. Would definitely go again!
Food was excellent. However I felt it was overpriced for a very small portion.
Food and service inpeccable. French onion soup is the best ever
I highly recommend the bbq salmon dish, the ceaser salad and the filet entree. This is our go to special occasion restaurant. The food is always perfect.
