Food was excellent. However I felt it was overpriced for a very small portion.
Food and service inpeccable. French onion soup is the best ever
I highly recommend the bbq salmon dish, the ceaser salad and the filet entree. This is our go to special occasion restaurant. The food is always perfect.
Went there for Fathers Day. Service and ambiance were great. My boyfriend ordered the filet cooked medium rare, it was fully cooked. He still enjoyed it as the cut of meat was really tender. The rest of the food was cooked perfect and tasted delicious.
Enjoyed it all, from welcome to wine to main course to dessert!
We love this place but they did not have their act together for Father’s Day we were not offered Popovers when we asked there weren’t anymore; food came extremely slow and I ordered rare tuna it was very over cooked. I did not send it back I’m reluctant to do that. We do like a server we’ve had her before. We’ll come again one of our favorite spots.
The meal was perfect from the signature James Street Cosmos to the yummy ultimate Sundae for dessert. Checkers is our favorite local restaurant for special occasions.
Last year's visit was great. This year's was awful. My filet was average but my wife's halibut was inedible. If I remember correctly, halibut is supposed to be somewhat flaky. This one had the consistency of mashed potatoes! While they took the haddock off the check, we were made to feel as if we should be grateful for their generosity. We won't return.
I had given up on having an excellent or even very good meal in Lancaster until I ate here (granted I have not eaten at every restaurant but those that had high reviews fell very short in my expectations)! We shared the lobster mac as an appy intending to leave some to have with our entrees but wolfed it down. I had the duck tacos - Chinese BBQ Duck, Wonton Taco and they were excellent. Light and so tasteful. My entree of pork belly and octopus was amazing - both cooked perfectly. My companion had the fish special and oohed and ahhed through every bite. I will definitely be going back on my next visit to Lancaster! My only comment was our seating. Had a 6:00 reservation and when we got there it was fairly empty. We were seated and we then discovered that everyone who came in after us was seated practically in a row in our section rather than scattering people around. But that wouldnt stop me from returning.
Interesting Evening - Nothing exceptional, nothing really wrong.
Steak ordered mid rare was well done sent back without incident - new one was cooked right.
Service was attentive - could work on clearing more glassware as drinks were replenished
Duck tacos lacked real flavor
Other people entrees and salads were cooked fine
Excellent gin cocktail
Unfortunately the service was very lacking for not being busy. The server was pleasant but absent.
I had eggplant rollatine and it was not good too dry and too much breading. And I have had this dish before.
My guest did enjoy her tuna.
Will I come back? Let’s say I am not running back anytime soon.
The meal was delicious as always and they were very acknowledging to the nature of our special occasion. The sorbet is amazing and much larger scoops than I had anticipated.
Noisy but food was outstanding. Had the calamari, lobster bisque, bbq salmon and the roasted chicken. Cheesecake and coffee for dessert. Everything was outstanding. Service great as well. Will be back.
Our waitress, Jennifer, was very professional and friendly. The restaurant was beautiful.
Dinner and atmosphere was great. A bit noisy, but it was a Friday night. Dessert was amazing! I had the creme brûlée and I can’t wait to go back and have it again!
Our meal was delicious, and the server was fantastic. She recommended a glass of wine for with my meal, and it was perfect. We were celebrating our anniversary, and felt like we had lots of time to enjoy each other's company uninterrupted. As we wrapped our evening, they brought us a treat to finish our celebration. Wonderful!
Another wonderful dining experience. Food and service were great as always. The pork belly and octopus appetizer is not to be missed.
The duck tacos were amazing as was the gnocchi. The arancini was ok (the risotto a little too cooked). The striped bass special was good.
Enjoyed the smoked salmon with poached egg was a delicious Sunday brunch item!
Wonderful food. Wonderful service. Celebrated our anniversary there in a Tuesday evening and had a great experience
Very nice great service ate at the bar
My husband and I were delighted with the service and the delicious food. Our waitress, Sonia, went above and beyond to make sure our experience was perfect. Highly reommend!
We’ve been enjoying Checkers for years! Always a great meal with a casual flair. We took my 80 year- young parents out for a combined Mother’s and Father’s Day dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great. This is one of our favorite spots in Lancaster County!
Took my mom out for Mother’s Day, she had a great time! Food and service was excellent, definitely worth the money!
MOTHER'S DAY WAS THE SPECIAL OCCASSION AND WE HAD A DELIGHTFUL SUNDAY BRUNCH -- THE STAFF ALL WORKED TOGETHER WHICH MADE FOR A VERY EASY ATMOSPHERE, EVERY QUESTION AND REQUEST WAS PROMPTLY ATTENDED TO, AND EVEN THOUGH ONE ITEM WAS COOKED MORE THAN WE LIKED, THEY WERE GLAD TO REMEDY THE SITUATION FOR US. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS AND WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. THANKS!!
Went for mothers day and had a wonderful time. Place was clean and well decorated. Had a wonderful server and great food. I would recommend getting the fried calamari, and The Burger!
Excellent place to eat and I highly recommend!
We went for a Mother’s Day brunch and the food was delicious as always. Our server was very sweet and attentive. It’s always a great dining experience at Checkers.
We were seated promptly and our drink order taken. I ordered the roast chicken which was creative and delicious. The waiter let us know that the chicken dish is prepared to order and would take a while to cook, which was thoughtful.
Delicious birthday dinner and good drinks. Service was a little slow on the drinks.
We have been here before but it was absolutely fantastic this time. Food was really good and the atmosphere equally nice. I couldn’t stop complimenting my food. We’ll be back.
Wonderful food! Best french onion soup ever!
Prompt, courteous service. Delicious food presented attractively.
Sunday night was the perfect time for our small dinner get together at Checkers. The service was outstanding, the food delicious, and we nearly had our section to ourselves. I highly recommend Checkers for any occasion.
Checkers never disappoints. From the wait staff to the food and drinks, it is always on point.
They treated us very well on our anniversary, and the food was delicious!
We had a wonderful experience at Checkers Bistro. Not only did we get to dine outside (lunch) but we had delicious food and a superb server!
We love Checkers, we go there for lunch/brunch on Saturdays almost every time we stay at my moms over the weekend. The service is usually quite good. They have a nice wine selection and a pleasant menu. We were there this past Saturday 4/28/18. Things started out well enough, but by the end of lunch our experience wasn't the best one we have had there. I always have a bit of an issue with how the front of the house deal with the customer when they walk in the door. We have been to Checkers dozens of time, with and without reservations. The restaurant can be empty, and still you need to wait in the lobby from 5 to 15 minutes. Our perception is if you want to eat at Checkers you have to earn your seat by waiting. Its really very annoying.
Certainly we don't mind waiting our turn. But to wait 10 min to be seated in an empty restaurant is very silly and kind of condescending. Our experiences are usually good so we keep going. On sat once we were seated, our server was prompt with drinks and order taking. They bring these yummy pop-overs to the table and we order apps and entrees. our apps came out. and we enjoyed the pop overs the the apps we chatted and we chatted some more, we had more wine... eat everything on the table and no entrees. We waited more than 30 min between apps and entree.. NOT Ok! How long does it take to make a bowl of soup, F Fries, a small ceaser, and one omelet split with a little salad on the side??? We even asked the server if there was a problem in the kitchen.. She said no... I write this review not so much for other diners but in the hope that the owner sees it. Had this been our first experience... it would have been our last. Luckily we have many great meals there and we hope this experience was a singular one.
Excellent food and service! The server brought our little girl out a small Shirley Temple to “cheers” with us, it was super nice and cute. The Arancini appetizer was delicious, and we loved the entrees. Great upscale dining in Lancaster City!
Always good and consistent! Love the atmosphere and duck tacos!
