The sophisticated and timeless Dining Room offers diners a warm and intimate space to enjoy Chef Carmelo's inventive seasonal menus. The dining room is divided in to 3 areas, the Wine Salon, the Stage and the Champions Room.

The Wine Salon is an elegantly appointed dining area that faces the glass-enclosed wine cellar.

The Stage is a raised area, longer than it is wide, facing a full-length wall of beautiful old casement windows.

The Champions Room is a private area that can be part of the restaurant flow or cordoned off for privacy.

First time here and I would definitely return. Very cool ambiance. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were spot on. I wish I had the appetite for the duck tacos, but instead went with the apple salad which didn't disappoint. Followed by the sea bass over risotto which was one of the best pieces of fish I ever had. Scallops were also delicious, no room for dessert but enjoyed a delicious bottle of Brown family wine, Heritage. The food, drink and ambiance were worth waiting for the 8:30 reservation.

I love the atmosphere here, and was looking forward to dinner early on a Saturday. However, our service this time was poor. I felt as if we were inconveniencing the server. It didn’t appear really crowded so I’m not sure what the problem was.

This was a GREAT dining experience in Lancaster, PA and a must-visit for locals and a really good find for us visitors to the area. We were in town from NJ to see the Celtic Woman concert and found this selection on Open Table. The menu was varied with both fish and meat options, also a nice wine list and some really good dessert choices. Our waiter, Colin was both informative and invisible when needed, so overall this was a delightful find for us!!!!

Good food. Service between appetizer and dinner was unusually long. We had a concert to attend and had to ask waitress where order was. Dinner came but we rushed thru meal. Quality and quantity were good and would definitely try restaurant again.

Another wonderful experience at one of our favorite restaurants. The chef surprised us with a special treat of lobster Mac and cheese, which was fantastic. The service by Sonja was impeccable as always.

Checker's Bistro is always a 'must do' dinner destination when we visit PA. The food, drinks and service are always good but this visit was especially memorable. Our server was Jonathan and he was outstanding. He was very attentive and he took very good care of us. We didn't feel rushed and every course was timed perfectly. We can honestly say that between the meal and the service this was easily the best dining experience we've had at Checker's Bistro. There is no question that we will definitely be back when we visit PA. Thank you.

We went here for what was called “Easter brunch” at lunch time on Sunday, expecting the weekend brunch menu, but they only offered the dinner menu. Despite being surprised and somewhat disappointed, our experience as usual was very good. The wait staff is professional and nice, and the food is amazing.

We are from Virginia so went on line to find a good restaurant. We totally lucked out! Enjoyed our evening in Lancaster. When we visit again, we would definitely return. Waitress was exceptional and we appreciated the ice sherbert.

Do not let the location fool you - this place is elegant and very classy! We were greeted from the moment we entered the front area by two very pleasant hostesses. We only waited at the bar with our friends for a few minutes and were seated in a private back dining room with only a few other tables - it was absolutely perfect! We started with the delicious beet salad and calamari and most tried the coffee steak (excellent of course). I enjoyed my scallops and my friend loved her pasta - we didn't have room for dessert but enjoyed dinner thoroughly. (Did I mention the not to be missed sweet potato fries? ) I am sorry I don't remember our server's name but he was excellent and we thank you for such great service. We will definitely recommend this place and be back soon. Keep up the great work!

The service was pleasant, attentive but not overbearing. The food is consistently excellent and this experience was no different. The duck tacos are a unique appetizer and so damn good. The swordfish special that evening was excellent.

Arrived 20 mins. early for reservation with hopes to grab drink at the bar. Upon arrival we were told by two hostesses bar was full and that we couldn’t grab a drink there before meal. While waiting, Husband went to restroom and on way back saw open high top table and at least two open seats at bar. This first impression turned us off. We proceeded to bar anyway despite the feeling we weren’t allowed to be there.

Service was average, wait staff didnt support local wineries. Even went as far to say they were not good at all. Food was quite salty and salmon was over cooked. Cost far too much for a less than average meal.

Food is amazing but the service was absolutely dreadful! Out wine glasses were empty for over 15 minutes and my husband had to literally track down the waitress the ask for more. I would only go again if we sat at the bar as our friends had a similar experience!

Checkers used to one of our favorites. It has really gone down hill. Service was incredibly slow. the waiter never came to check on us even when our food was taking so long to come out. I saw the waiter pass by our table several times never asking if we needed another drink, which we did. It was hard to get our water refilled. Once we did stop the waiter to order a beer it took forever, I finally asked about the beer and he said he apologized but they were out and he forgot to tell us. At the prices you pay for Checkers this is unforgivable. I ordered the Shrimp and grits, which I have had before at Checkers. It was OK but not great as in the past. Later that night I payed the price for a bad shrimp. Lets just say it was not a good night! There are too many good places to eat in Lancaster, don't waste your time at Checkers. Very disappointing.

Unfortunately the bar was running low on supplies Friday night. The usual good wine selection by the glass was limited as was their beer selection. Bar was also slow with our cocktails. Overall, we had a great dinner with friends. Food and ambiance were great, BUT it was pushing a 3-hour dinner because of bar delays
