Ruben was the best server we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. He was amazing with suggestions for food and wine. Thank you for one of the best dining experiences. Food was great. Portions were very plentiful. The menu was slightly complex which is why we put our choices in our servers hands and we were not disappointed.
Had dinner at Che Figata Last night. The food was creative, unique and delicious. Everyone at our table got something different and we could not stop talking about how good the food was. Really enjoyed my experience, can't wait to go back and try even more items on the menu.
A private party had taken over the restaurant. We were accommodated in the lounge and never missed a beat. I had wanted to see the new restaurant as it’s unique from the pictures. We just never got to experience.
We had great service and food was flavorful with unique ingredients and nice presentation
For a new restaurant they were doing well.
We tried this restaurant based on the review in the Tribune. Maybe they're working out the kinks of a new restaurant, but I still do not recommend Che Figata. Our server didn't know anything about the wine list and had to ask someone else for suggestions. It took 20 minutes to receive our complete drink order and when it came, it was incorrect. It took another 15 minutes for the correct drink. We didn't order a second round because of the long wait time for the drinks. The menu is pretentious and the food is average and overpriced. There were a few good things, such as the Il Misto small plate and the Ossobuco. On the not-so-good side, the meatball in the Ragu della Domineca was hard and dry. The Budino al Rabarbaro had good flavors but was more like a soup than a pudding/custard. The pizza had no flavor.
This place just opened a few weeks ago. It is going thru the normal start up issues, however the food was outstanding. Our server was very nice and the general manager stopped by to chat with us for a little, which we appreciated. The overall service was a little slow but not unreasonable. I am sure they will get that improved as the personnel and management work out the growing pains. And I hope they can retain the nice and friendly disposition of the wait staff and management. Sometimes that doesn't happen as a restaurant gains recognition and becomes more popular.
Mark/Grant have built a great new option in the western suburbs. The food is some of the best in the area. The open kitchen concept allows for a unique and creative dining experience. The Arugula Limoncello salad is unbelievable. Don't skip Friday and Saturday when they offer delicious Dover sole and Porterhouse entree specials. Love the staff. Dave knows his wines. Jeff, Sue, Melissa and LeeAnn create a service vibe that second to none.
Finally, upscale Italian has come to the Western Suburbs! Innovative and delicious food in a contemporary setting. Try the arugula salad and the roasted cauliflower salad. You won't be disappointed. Puffy crust Roma pizzas are a perfect sharing appetizer. Loved my pasta with bolognese sauce. Too full to try the desserts, but will save room the next time!
A great new concept for the Naperville area. Food and service were dialed in very well for a new restaurant.
Everything was amazing. The service was spectacular, very attentive, and very nice. There was little wait for our food to come out, and all three courses were delicious. We made reservations and were seated immediately. We are picky eaters and have not one complaint. We will definitely be back again and again.
Great food and ambiance. Excellent options for wine. Very comfortable setting and relaxed atomoshere. I will definitely be back soon!
Che Figata was amazing in every way. The service was attentive and helpful. Every bite of food was delicious. The music selection and volume allowed us to carry on a conversation. We will be returning. There were so many more things on the menu that we want to try.
Had a late dinner after business meeting. Initial service was slow but improved. Food was very good and serving portions were generous.
Creative menu. On par with some of the best Chicago restAurants.
We had read several of the reviews about Che and although many of them were unfavorable we decided to try the restaurant anyway. They recently opened and maybe after some starts and stops, based on the reviews, they seemed to have it all together tonight.
The food was wonderful and the overall service was excellent. Our server, Danielle, was gracious and accommodating. We also met Melissa and the manager, Dave, and we were very impressed with their level of concern, knowledge and service. The prosciutto and fig platter as well as the burata and their pizza were all excellent! Everything tasted very fresh, delicious and was visually lovely. It was a wonderful evening and we will most definitely return!
New restaurant I will be back for the food, the space is lovely too as is the bar next door Zorbas. The service execution is where the attention needs to be. And I’m sure they are working on that it was only opened about a week.
After reading reviews on Naperville’s newest restaurant made reservation and arrived to energetic restaurant, upbeat music, and a good vibe. Was quickly seated (although we had a reservation for two, we we had to wait while they separated a table for four = unprepared but no biggie). Ordered wine = very good. Informed server (Jenny) of my allergy to nuts and shellfish which she noted. Ordered buffata & tomato appetizer without pesto (due to fore stated allergy). After 20 min appetizer arrived WITH PESTO. Had to send back - 15 minutes later appetizer arrived correctly prepared and was delicious.
Twice the wrong meals were brought to our table either meant for other tables or the wrong order for our table. After repeated inquiries with Jenny and her assurances our food was on its way - one hour later the manager brought out our food (and forgot the pasta side). The server (Jenny) was clueless and the manager had no good explanation for what went wrong. Also the side pasta was supposed to be spaghetti but came out even later after I reminded them, as linguini. Big breakdown in communication (order/kitchen/delivery) and no one took responsibility.
Overall the food was ok, certainly not worth the wait or the cost. After a ruined evening with my wife we passed on desert or coffee (we had been there long enough). Jenny comped the appetizer (big deal). As a frequent diner in Naperville, Chicago and around the world (including Italy), I must say Che FiGATA is not yet ready for prime time. Wont’ be back as there are too many other great choices to eat - like Santo Cielo in downtown Naperville.
7:15 reservation. Water served. Asked for specials. Never provided. Asked for wine list. Never provided. Found a waiter with a wine list and found waiter and ordered wine. Wine arrived at 8:15. Complained, and hostess dropped by because we complained. Ordered and she brought bread at 8:45 (first sign of food). On three separate occasions, they brought another table's food. Finally, salads arrived at about 9:00. Food started trickling in by 9:15. Everyone served by 9:30. It was a nightmare. 2:45 minutes for dinner. Staff kept coming by and apologizing, but nothing was ever fixed. My plate was the last to arrive, after I tracked down the waiter, who had never placed my order. Spaghetti! A dish that probably took 5 minutes to prepare.
Background music was too loud
Let me preface this by stating that I've started writing this review while still in the restaurant. I'm still here because I was just notified that our order was lost. Let me give you a quick rundown of the evening:
7pm - arrive per our reservation
7:10 - order appetizer
7:15 - receive appetizer (fig with cheese and honeycomb...delicious)
7:30 - order 2 drinks and 2 entrees
7:40ish - last we see of our waiter for a while
8pm - waiter reappears to let us know that our ticket (order) was "lost"
8:10 - wife receives her food and soda (I guess they wanted her to eat alone)
8:15 - bartender finally delivers my drink...waiter arrives 5 minutes later with another drink (I didn't order a second)
8:30 - my food finally arrives...stone cold.
At that point, I'd had enough. This was my wife's birthday dinner and it was nothing less than a complete disaster. The waiter comped our drinks and app, but still charged for the entrees. I thought it was BS, but at that point, I just wanted to leave.
The waiter apologized many times, but I think what really told a story is that we never once heard from a manager. The bread lady even came by and apologized after noticing our increasingly angered expressions, but no sign of a manager.
We really wanted to like this restaurant and even discussed a return visit after the appetizers, but that is not in the cards at this point. I absolutely cannot recommend this "restaurant" after this experience.
Service was friendly but awful 3 try’s to get a classic martini , food was served before wine we had to wait 10 minutes before the wine came to accompany our food ,major training needed. However the food was fabulous hopefully they will work out the kinks
The food was good but the service was terrible. It took forever to get waited on, the food was not paced correctly, when entrees FINALLY arrived one was cold, one as good and one did not arrive until we had finished our meals.
Nice ambiance but music was too loud to converse at the table. Worst service experience of recent memory.
just opened so had a few glitches on service. will try again in a month. hopefully they get their timing on the meals down and the front of the house is less complicated and over staffed.
The food and service were excellent. Joe was very knowledgeable about the food items and very attentive to all of our needs, excellent service.
My only suggestion is that a diaper changing station needs to be installed at least in the women’s bathroom, I had to change my baby’s diaper on the bathroom floor. I know it’s not really a family restaurant but if you have high chairs available why not have changing stations? Hopefully you can make this change for all the moms with little ones eating at your restaurant. Other than that I’ll eat here again.
We came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Started with a martini and coffee, both were great . My partner had the Ragu short rib/meatball/sausage pasta, fresh and homemade, loved it, and I had the Zuppa Verde (ok) to start followed by the Prosciuttino y Fichi (prosciutto, figs and Gorgonzola) pizza - yum! Took the Olive cake home for later - delicious! Really enjoyed the food and the inventive combinations. Hoping to come back soon.
We sat at the bar and really enjoyed watching the chefs prepare the various dishes. Fun vibe!! Food was fantastic!! The white Bolognese sauce was amazing as was the burrata and tomato salad!! Dover sole well worth the price!!! Everything we tasted was fresh and creative. Service was a little lacking, as is expected with a brand new restaurant, but the staff bent over backwards to make the night a pleasurable one. We will be back!!
Still refining service. Otherwise amazing.
Osso Buco was not very good. Aside from it being very different, it lacked tenderness and flavor.
Pappardelle Alla Bolognese was very good.
The staff was very nice, but the service needs improvement.
Very disappointing! After reading all the hype about the restaurant and food we were disappointed by the service and food. We sat for long periods of time with no one attending us. Asked for beer and they said you didn’t have any. When we finally got our food it was dry and seemed that it was sitting for awhile before coming to us. It seems that all the waiters were confused by which tables the food was going to since we almost got other people’s food and ours’ was almost delivered to another table. We know that it is your first week open but things have to get much better if we ever come back again.
This was our 2nd time there in a week. Food was phenomenal
The pizza and pasta dishes are delicious
Even my husband who has a very restricted diet was so impressed with the wonderful chicken and fries. So much wine to choose from...
Staff is very well informed and gave great recommendations for food and wine.
We will visit often
Love the decor and vibe of the restaurant. Very modern decor with great finishes and view of kitchen. Large bar that invites you to want to grab a stool and sit.
Menu was varied with a very good selection, overall prices seemed reasonable. Food was very good, nice presentation.
This was week one for restaurant, so service varied from a little overwhelming to not getting a lot of attention. They were still training staff so the restaurant at times seemed almost too busy with staff running about. Assume this will slow down in coming weeks. Will certainly return.
Very noisy and irritating music
Gloppy food preparation
Overly ambitious menu
So many interesting and enticing menu choices. We had the marrow appetizer, short rib ravioli and osso bucco, all amazing! Can't wait to go back and try something else!
My boyfriend and I came here for lunch after we saw it was finally open. He met Chef Grant at his work and we've been waiting for the opening ever since. Our first experience was great! We got the charcuterie board that featured freshly sliced charcuterie and plenty of acoutrements to go with. We also split the scallop, lobster and polenta appetizer. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the polenta was great — neither of us are polenta fans and we agreed that we could eat that polenta all the time. For our meals, we each got a salad. I got the cauliflower option which was so fresh and came with a side of honeycomb (my favorite part) and my boyfriend got the ceaser trio which was amazing as well. Just a note: says GF on the menu but comes with a slice of grilled bread. We took it off but my boyfriend's stomach was a little upset after since he has a gluten allergy. I got the oil cake for a dessert and it was amazing as well. Very moist and had great flavor, especially with the addition of the honey mascapone that came with it. Overall, we loved our experience there and will be trying it again for dinner as I'm a pasta lover and they have some great GF options as well.
Wow! Awesome food and dining experience. Not cheap but not outrageous prices for quality food made right. Desserts are yummy and in generous portions.
Che FiGata has filled a very needed niche in Naperville. Although we have several nice Italian restaurants, Che Figata is the real deal. We have been to Italy a couple of times and always lament that we can’t get a true Italian flavor, especially when it comes to pizzas. The texture of Che FiGata’s crust was perfect, nicely charred from their ovens, and chewy without being mushy! the fresh ingredients, were just that, very fresh. My husband and I shared the Salamino Piccante, sans the Calabrian pepper, since I’m allergic. it was an elegant mix of spicy charred pepperoni, carmalized cipollini, buffalo mozzarella, and Parmigiano Reggiano. We wanted to try both the red and the white bolognese so I ordered the Lasagna Di 16 Piani with the red bolognese and he ordered the Pappardelle Alla Bolognese with white bolognese sauce. Let me just say the lasagna, presented in a cute square pottery dish, literally melted in my mouth. The Pappardelle was incredible! Both sauces were amazing and you can purchase both of them in their little market. Moving on to dessert we did run into a little snafu. I ordered the Tiramisu that came presented on a decorated plate was as bite sized petit fours. They had been, unfortunately, put in the freezer instead of the cooler so I couldn’t even cut into them. They immediately looked into the problem and offered us a different dessert. We took the Cannoli Della Casa home with us. Instead of the traditional pistachio on the ends, theirs had what seemed to me to be crushed Fruity Pepples. Not sure about that and although they were delicious, I think they need to stay with their theme of being traditional Italian food and put the pistachios on! Overall the dining experience was very pleasant and entertaining. We were close enough to see the chefs hard at work preparing our delicious food. I like the idea of them being in the open so we can watch. I definitely recommend Che Figata’s and we will be going back very soon with friend!
Great service! Didn't love my pasta - I ordered the BUCATINI CON GUANCIALE PICCANTE and there were two clumps of pasta in the middle so it was definitely overcooked. My daughter had pizza and loved it. Our appetizer IL MISTO DELLA DOMENICA was outstanding! I will go back but will probably skip the pasta and order pizza instead.
Great atmosphere, fun concept. Once they get the dinner service up to speed it will be awesome!
Date night with the wife. I believe the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks tops. The wait staff seemed unorganized and confused. It took a while just to get water when first seated. We ordered an appetizer and when the food runner brought it he was unsure of which table it belong to so was asking us, "is this yours?". Very unprofessional. They need additional training to improve the service. Wife order a prawn dish and said it was very good. I ordered a meatball, sausage and short rib pasta dish which I thought was too rustic flavored for my taste. We both had tomato basil soup which was very good. We will try this restaurant one more time but not for a while, hopefully they can get the staff up to speed.
Server seemed to have a lot of tables and did not spend time with us or give us much information. Music too loud and not good. Food seemed like good value. Wine a bit expensive. Overall ok will give it another try.
I’ll chalk this experience up to ‘opening week’ issues. First off, the food was great. I won’t deny that. My issue lies with the food delivery and knowledge of the menu. The staff is clearly not up to speed with the menu items and is still learning (looking at notes often in order to explain dishes). The menu is quite extensive. As far as food delivery goes, the fifth person in our party of five didn’t get his dish until 15-20 minutes after the rest of our party received their meals. Upon receiving the dish, there wasn’t really any apology for it taking so long. As a matter of fact, a manager delivered the dish and didn’t acknowledge the fact that it was extremely late. We also didn’t receive a salad that we ordered and they delivered an incorrect side dish.
As with most restaurants, I assumed someone would come to our table and apologize. Perhaps they would provide the extremely late meal free of charge or bring out a dessert on the house, but to my disappointment none of the above happened. We got the full check, paid it, and left. Unfortunate...
We’ll be back, but will definitely wait until all of the kinks are worked out.
